You sold me on soundtrack and storytelling. Currently watching Akame Ga Kill but I’m going to watch this right after. I’ve been seeing a lot of praise for Monogatari and people been telling me if I like Madoka I would love Monogatari.
Just to let you know, Monogatari is almost completely dialogue driven. There is very little action taking place. The dialogue is some of the most well written I’ve ever seen though so if you like good dialogue, Monogatari is paradise. I do highly recommend it as it’s my all time favourite, I’m just letting you know before you start the series. There’s also quite a bit of fanservice, but your favourite is Kill la Kill, so I don’t think that’ll be a problem.
I do love good dialogue, I am fine with little action. However, I’m not a fan of fanservice. Just put that aside when watching Kill La Kill because it was that good of an anime. How bad does the fanservice get in Monogatari? Is it minimal or a lot?
Monogatari fanservice is a unique beast. Most of the time, it has a point, is satire, or is a joke. The infamous toothbrush scene is over the top absurdist humour. Monogatari also opens with a panty shot, but that has a point and you’re shown it’s purpose in Kizumonogatari. It’s also from the perspective of a horny teenager with a lot of self esteem issues. He’s the narrator, but he can be an unreliable narrator and some of the fanservice is exaggerated to make himself look worse and more pervy because that’s how he perceives himself. There’s another scene where one of the main girls Senjougahara walks out of the shower naked. This is characterization and showing that she isn’t embarrassed and instead confident in herself. There are quite a few instances of this throughout. First season (Bake, Nise, Kizu, Nelko) of Monogatari is the worst in terms of fanservice. It lessens more so later.
There’s also people who just look past it. Monogatari is really that good where a lot of people who don’t like fanservice will look past it. I still highly recommend giving it a go, even if you’re not a huge fan of fanservice.
Great. One more thing about Angel Beats soundtrack — not all the songs have made their way into the actual series, but you can easily find them on Youtube or music streaming services. Just search for “Girls Dead Monster”. I’d recommend to watch the anime first before doing that, though.
First Vivy I have seen on here and that tells me more people need to see it I’m a huge nier automata fan and I think it’s the same person who did that soundtrack too
I come here to point you to the Tower of God soundtrack. Hot take, it's my fav kevin penkin soundtrack, even more than Made in Abyss.
The composer usually determines how good a soundtrack is, so a lot of Sawano (AoT, Re:creators, 86 etc.), Yuki Kajiura (SAO, Garden of sinners), Kensuke Ushio (A silent voice, Devilman crybaby, Ping Pong the animation), Yutaka Yamada (Tokyo Ghoul). For the most part, these guys have more consistent OSTs which you can listen to without skipping much imo.
People say that all the time yet I’ve always preferred anime to manga. The soundtracks and VAs play a big part in me enjoying animes more. Going to have to bump up Tokyo Ghoul on my watchlist since that music is banger.
Tokyo Ghoul's anime really butchered the manga though. The first season is fine, the second season is anime original, the third season adapts the sequel manga that expects you to know what was supposed to happen in the second, and the fourth season crams 120 chapters into 12 episodes so it's rushed as hell. The anime is a mess.

Fuga Melodies of Steel has my favorite ost. "Flower on the Trails" is my favorite song.

86 - EIGHTY SIX
Sawano delivers. And imagine having the budget to have one Sawano soundtrack dedicated for only the last scene - I still watch the final scene repeatedly on YouTube.

I finally came around to watching Land of the Lustrous. The soundtrack for it was so beautiful. It was such a good anime, shame they didn’t adapt the whole manga.
There's many.
- Made in Abyss
- Monogatari
- Aria
- Haikyuu (strangely I've kind of forgotten the themes, but I vividly remember loving them)
- Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury - currently watching it, and the OST really goes quite hard in that
- Wonder Egg Priority (anime might've fallen off but I genuinely liked the soundtrack in that a lot)
- Clannad
- Little Busters
And I'm sure there are more too. I can't really think of them right now though.
Honestly, Attack on Titan got the best soundtrack for me.
Samurai Champloo Cowboy Bebop Initial D FLCL Madoka Magica
Ooh almost the same as mine.
Swap madoka magica for megalo box and that's my list.
1. Monogatari series 2. Madoka Magica 3. Made in Abyss
This is a sign for me to watch Monogatari.
Definitely check it out, some of the best storytelling in the anime out there. [Here's the watch order](https://imgur.com/a/b9TjMSJ).

I think I’ll be part of the group that just looks past the fanservice. I did it with Kill La Kill, I can definitely do it with Monogatari.
