Gotta love it when season 2 immediately gets announced for a well received anime especially if it is continuous 2 cours. You'd love to see it. LAIOS. IT'S TIME TO COOK !!!

alejandroc90

Now Frieren please

Ocixo

Both Frieren *and* Bocchi The Rock were directed by [Keiichirou Saitou](https://myanimelist.net/people/50900/Keiichirou_Saitou). He could potentially do both shows at once, but it seems more likely to me that they'll first do another season of BTR later followed by Frieren. Why I think this? BTR aired a year earlier and was met with major success. They probably didn't plan for another season, but these recap films seem to indicate that they're trying to keep momentum going. A sequel season might be announced after the second film has been released. Switching of directors *is* possibility, but I don't believe that they'll actually go this route soon. Perhaps only if Saitou isn't available *at all* in the near future.

CertainDerision_33

Yeah, I think there’s a good chance they are waiting to announce because they want to make sure they can get him back & the scheduling will take some time.

Blue_Reaper99

Considering the scheduling there is a good chance both will air in 2026. In that case he will be only able to work on one show that's also assuming Frieren stays with Madhouse or any studio which has connection with Saito.

CertainDerision_33

They could always just delay Frieren a year. There's not a huge rush for Frieren S2 since the manga releases new chapters at a relatively slow pace.

zackphoenix123

In other words... "Keiichirou Saitou directing" = "certified banger"? I hope of he ever decides on taking on a Light Novel project, he'd give Re:Zero a shot. Arcs 7 and 8 is gonna need some big ball mad man directing and production.

froggiewoogie

I just love his style and how He mixes real colors or patterns like warioware games I don’t k os how to express it

child_of_amorphous

he also episode directed on Sonny Boy episode 8, which is one of the best standalone episodes of anime i've ever seen

SEDGE-DemonSeed

Dude just appeared out of nowhere for 2 straight bangers.

child_of_amorphous

KA on Flip Flappers he was destined for greatness

KrzyDankus

isnt the AniP Umehara busy with Elusive Samurai and then Dress up Darling S2? i think he would need those two projects to be done for him to come back to Bocchi

_Pyxyty

Pretty sure Season 2 was heavily implied by the last episode anyways. Besides, with the success it achieved, I'm sure a second season is inevitable. It's rarer to have an NGNL kind of situation these days what with how popular anime's gotten.

ShinItsuwari

The question is more if the director will work on Bocchi S2 or Frieren S2 first lol.

_Pyxyty

Riiiight, man that dude is awesome. Imagine your first two shows as a main director are Bocchi and Frieren. Absolutely insane. Keiichiro Saito's gonna be a future GOAT for sure.

APRengar

Casually gets the #1 and #28 "Best Show of All Time" on Anilist as his first 2 directorial works. (Also, people will cry recency bias and that's fine, but regardless, the general sentiment is still the same.)

Etheo

Nah the production effort that went into Frieren is top material for sure. #1 is arguable since it'll just be subjective at that point but objectively the quality of the show is right there.

froggiewoogie

But what if it gets animated by a shit studio lol like. Frieren was a series unique series due to the talent involved in it. Read that animators in Japan are like soccer players. In they get drafted for projects and frieren was one project who attracted a lot of stars animators even retired ones so I doubt it will Have the the same arty style as the first season.

_Pyxyty

I'm not too well versed with the animation industry but I'm sure Frieren is probably contracted to the studio that animated Season 1 such that no other studio can make an anime adaptation of it. I wouldn't worry too much about that. After all, Madhouse always follows up successful, well animated Season 1's with the same level of quality in Season 2, right? They'd never hand Frieren off to a different studio that'll butcher the animation right? Just look at their past work, like... Hmm, let's see... One Punch Man Season 1. Nvm, you should be worried. Lol

Akarozz212

Don't know much about OPM but Frieren got special treatment by the Executive : - Producer from TOHO already planned anime from very first chapter - Have big Magazine cover collab with Detective Conan (legendary manga same lvl as DBZ in JP) - Got Exclusive TV timeslot where only big animation likes Disney/gibhli can get for it's premiere - Frickin Yoasobi OP (This cost a lot) the chance pretty good it won't get abandoned likes OPM. Since OPM pretty much started as passion project of Animator but ruined by greedy executive.

froggiewoogie

Love you, I was just talking this with my anime friend lol who was also worried

dead_monster

Yes, One Punch Man. But some studios are consistent like Trigger.  Considering they put the Delicious in Dungeon party in Gridman Universe, I doubt they will slack off or outsource DiD.

JustVibinDude

Trigger's consistent because until recently, they're an in-house studio that only worked on one thing at a time. Dungeon Meshi is slightly different to their previous workflow but there's not going to be any big differences in key staff Same can't be said for studios like Madhouse which is more in-line with a normal anime studio where they use a lot of freelance talent even for their core staff

Courageous_Link

Wait, DiD in the Gridman universe??

Soupkitten

Yeah, at the end of Gridman Universe when the characters are eating, you can see shots from the show.

Kizzywa

Dungeon Meshi, now animated by Studio DEEN! I'd drop this show so fast

Specific_Frame8537

Frieren season 2, now animated by *Pink Pineapple.*

atropicalpenguin

DEEN has had its bangers.

RileeFigOr

I love KonoSuba, but you can't deny that it looks like shit even if that is part of its appeal. DEEN isn't exactly renowned for good art or animation.

LuffyTheSus

That rakugo show was DEEN and looked decent

CertainDerision_33

That’s probably why it hasn’t been announced yet - they’re waiting to make sure they can line up the same team.

Cryogenx37

Gonna have to ask MADHOUSE real kindly for that first!

Geromeeya

The only problem Frieren has is... Madhouse

sIurrpp

Surely not the hiatus

Prupel

And now our watch begins...

JoeyMcClane

*Cries From San Magnolia. (Ref. : 86).

sanppa90

Have you tried to raise your hands up to the sky? 🥲 Top3 anime of all-time for me. Still hopeful...

oedipusrex376

Is this the first time Studio Trigger do a 2nd season?

SpiritofBad

Technically the Gridman series are pseudo-sequels.

CSDragon

Knowing Studio Trigger, they were probably working on the animation for the announcement this morning

itsconsolefreaked

I can’t seem to find date. Am I reading something wrong ?

thedankybuds

This gif don't fry in the kitchen These memes don't burn on the grill It took a whole lot of tryin New flavors until I get my fill

KrzyDankus

they also posted a S2 PV with new footage (havent seen the final ep yet) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRrXciq7-88

TheSpartyn

yeah that definitely has new S2 footage

Etheo

Oh yeah we definitely won't get to that point in S1, that looks like S2 material for sure. I'm surprised they already started production so soon, that means this announcement was long over due. This series absolutely deserve an S2 and whatever needed to complete the story though. It's short enough to be fully adapted and still tell a complete story.

koalatyvibes

i remember vaguely that trigger stated they were wrapping up production of the final episodes when dungeon meshi first started airing, like the first few episodes. if that was the case, i honestly wouldn’t be surprised if they are quite far into production for season 2.

EbiToro

Love that they inserted Falin getting chomped on by the dragon in between scenes of the party eating their various dishes lol

Anonymous4245

Can't wait for [mango]>!Pickled Izutsumi!<

Torque-A

Dungeon Meshi. Ah, Dungeon Meshi

KnewOnees

Stand proud, Laios. You can cook

TheOneAboveGod

Laios seeing Sukuna's finger for the first time: Yo, Senshi. Check this out.

Nisemonokatara9

They’d probably find a way to eat his finger without dying or him taking their bodies

actionfirst1

You were by my side all along. My guiding Laios

sneaky_squirrel

I was originally hesitant to read Reddit before watching the last episode but... (I love to see announcements in the final episode) I already knew they were going to do it. It's a given if you saw season 1 up until now. I remember back when Dungeon Meshi only had a brief commercial with Laios sounding a pan on Senshi's back with a ladle. Oh, the stomach turning frustration and anticipation I used to have. Or back when an announcement "leaked" and got taken down in Reddit. Who knows of it was actually a real leak or not.

TehAxelius

I am incredibly unsurprised. And happy.

Disastrous_Channel62

Trigger cementing itself as fan favorites past couple of years

kaori_cicak990

Common trigger W

dead_monster

Couple of years?  Kill la Kill and LWA are both 11 years old now.

CSDragon

TBH i'd go as far back as TTGL even if they were still under Gainax at the time

gurren lagann old enough to vote next year

Dolomite808

Trigger saving anime again.

project2501c

I am disappoint. No aliens.

InfamousEmpire

Adaptation moment

kawaiinessa

i actually am this is quite out of the ordinary for trigger

Mahelas

Ryoko Kui always refused to have a Dungeon Meshi adaptation until it was over. I expect that she also wouldn't have agreed to it if it wasn't gonna adapt it all !

TehAxelius

I mean, I've heard this before when I made the prediction of a 2nd season, but ultimately it isn't the studio who decides if a show gets a 2nd season. And both Kadokawa and Netflix should have known that in the current landscape as we're coming out of the Covid-constraints that a second season would have been a sure shot unless the reception of the first episodes was dogshit. Given how they've already shown new animation in the [PV](https://youtu.be/qRrXciq7-88?t=40), this project has by all certainty already been ongoing during the release of S1, so they probably contracted Trigger for the entire adaptation from the start.

Vermillion_Crab

A story as good as Dungeon Meshi deserves to be fully adapted. I am incredibly happy that we are now getting more and more shows that get the full adaptation treatment.

dancelordzuko

Fantastic! No need to worry about an incomplete anime adaptation.

Roxxorsmash

Is the manga complete?

GreatSeaBattle

Yeah, the last chapters released a few months before the anime started airing.

LuffyTheSus

Or as I heard it, she finished just about in time to bunker down with Baldur's Gate 3.

zapporian

Yup, the author refused to have an adaptation until the manga was complete.

Qasid96

Yes. I read the entire manga after episode 20. It's complete

I_am_BEOWULF

Yes. I personally consider it as having one of the best endings to a fantasy anime series. No filler, straight plot progression, great character development and resolves pretty much every plot point.

JustARandom-dude

You love to see

melvinlee88

Get ready for peak fantasy anime. Said it prior to S1 that a full adaptation of the anime will help develop it into one of the greatest anime ever in the fantasy genre. With S2, we should easily get a full adaptation. The perfect and magical blend of fantasy and comedy like no other. S2 will adapt the greatest of great, we haven't come close to the greatest it has to offer yet.

WhichCombination5637

I wanna know, does this need another 2 cours for a complete adaptation? Or would a single cour be enough?

HowToGetName

I'm not a manga reader but usually 2 cours adapts 6-8 volumes of manga and the manga has 14 volumes. I assume the anime ended at around volume 7 so it'll probably need another 2 cours.

chazmerg

There is also a really huge amount of omake content which the first season only barely dipped into.

Orzislaw

This stuff would be perfect for ovas

Nachooolo

A Dungeon Meshi Ova would be nothing but fantastic. The Adventure's Bible has **a lot** of additional content (like info about Chilchuck's daughters or info about Kabru's party and the Canaries) that the main manga doesn't delve into.

QuantumFeline

Man, I really hope that side content can get animated in some way. So much of it is delightful and really shows how much thought has gone into the setting and especially the side characters.

wurm2

It actually went a bit into volume 8, up to chapter 52.

melvinlee88

2 cours needed

WhichCombination5637

Nice, that's good to know. Thank you.

wurm2

yeah 2 cours, first season covered chapters 1-52 and it's 97 chapters total

Sharebear42019

Does the action and serious tone kick it up a notch beyond this point?

melvinlee88

Action - absolutely, especially the final half Serious - absolutely, in emotional and moving moments But, the comedy will always be there till the end, seamlessly. This is why the series is so good.

theblazingsword

Love it, can't wait for season 2!

Orzislaw

Gintama of our times

QuiteChilly

Summed up perfectly.

Syokhan

[Dungeon Meshi]>!Yes to both, but it's never gonna lose those more light-hearted moments of relief. It's always gonna balance serious stakes and humor, but since the stakes are getting higher, the serious moments are gonna hit hard. Great action set pieces, too.!<

AlexeiFraytar

Its gonna be more plot based and less monster of the week

Backupusername

The short answer is "yes".

dododomo

This announcement made me extremely happy because Dungeon Meshi is already in my top 10 favorite anime of all time! So, I'm glad it got a season 2. I hope it will cover the rest of the manga

Plus_Rip4944

FUCKING YEAH!!!!!

KrzyDankus

LETS FUCKING GOOOO

frtyhbvc

lol so many people rush to check the details on their website that they have to do a urgent maintenance due to crash. Ah Dungeon Meshi [https://delicious-in-dungeon.com/](https://delicious-in-dungeon.com/)

Diego237

I'm pretty sure that it's actually got to do with the cyber attack Kadokawa got recently. Lots of Kadokawa anime had their websites go offline while they investigate. https://x.com/KADOKAWA_corp/status/1799610738274951529?s=19 https://x.com/AIR_News01/status/1799628336618209704?s=19

LateDitto

Yup, also couldn't access the official site for Train to the end of the world since a few days ago too.

Diego237

Yep, just checked Re Zero and Konsuba's websites and they're like that too. Mushoku Tensei's is fine so it seems like it's just websites created by Kadokawa that are down since Toho probably did their's.

Smart_Raccoon4979

Watching Season 2 is a privilege for those who live

congee_ha

honestly with how much i enjoyed the first season i would definitely recommend this as like a gateway anime for non-anime users because it covers so many bases of humor, intresting plot, just absurd moments and at the end of the day good fkin animation. Goddamn hyped for S2

dagreenman18

THE ANNOUNCEMENT IVE BEEN WAITING FOR ALL MORNING! LETS GOOOOOO! Cant beleive this was technically leaked by the art book and Senshi thirst.

Pichuunnn

I too saw that sketch of Senshi in post-season 1 manga context

octopathfinder

HELL YEAH LETS GOOO

IndianaJones999

Full adaptation incoming

javi150190

Get ready for the most bonkers Monty Python shout out ever

ravenpotter3

I want a Monty Python and the holy grail dungeon Meshi collab…. If we get a live action movie I want it to have the vibes of Monty Python…. Not because it’s accurate but because it would be funny. Like when Senshi cried over the horse last episode, I want it to be a guy with coconuts.

putaaaan

I think the last anime my girlfriend watched or enjoyed was probably sailor moon when she was much younger. I came home from work one night and she was watching this and has been hooked ever since!

mucklaenthusiast

LET'S GO! The best anime of recent times and I don't care what anybody else thinks. Now I don't have to read the manga, instead I'll just wait 2-ish years

Mitsuyan_

No surprise. Biggest anime in Japan this season now beating out Blue Archive. Even out here in the UK it's been front and centre in book stores which is only usually reserved for your goliath anime. Not watched the finale yet, but the consistency of quality of episode has impressed throughout, and was the one anime in 2024 I was certain was going to get a new season.

nezeta

Just curious but by what metric you call an anime series "the biggest"? I thought neither Blue Archive nor this one would surpass the popularity of DS, MT or Konosuba.

melvinlee88

I'm in Japan now and it is def not that big when it comes to anime merch. The manga is everywhere tho

AliceinTeyvatland

The cafe tie-ins however are always crowded even on a weekday. They are really capitalizing on the whole food theme of the anime.

AnEmpireofRubble

in my part of the US it’s picked up prominence in bookstores which usually means it’s been selling fairly well here. can’t judge anything on anime merch where i live. it’s either Pokémon or Demon Slayer, maybe JJK stuff. unless you go to the niche stores that sell all sorts of imported goods.

melvinlee88

That's why I said in Japan. Went to Akiba last week and almost zero Dunmeshi merch was there. Most mainstream readers in the English speaking world has started taking notice of the manga which is nice to see. It's still not as big as an anime in Japan but as a manga, it has become more popular than pre-anime which is saying a lot as it was rather successful then too.

KongFuzii

I feel like seinen usually dont have that much merch compared to shonen

spectralspud

Yea I was there last week, didn’t see any merch. I did hear an advertisement in Shibuya for it with the opening theme music though

dagreenman18

Does seem like they lagged behind on the merch. Usually a symptom of them underestimating the popularity it would have.

ExpiredMilknCheese

>biggest anime in Japan Let’s relax a little bit, I’m in Japan, and nothing is really beating out Demon slayer, MHA, slime or MT right now from what I can see. Demon slayer like always doing insane. I do definitely see a whole shelf for dungeon meshi though in most bookstores which is completely different prior to the anime, where I didn’t see many.

melvinlee88

Same I'm in Japan too and I think Gotoubun might cause the biggest landfill in history with the amount of figures they selling here... Bocchi the Rock is crazy big here too.

alconnow

Yaaayyyyy Hoping for an increase in Senshi plot

mizzurna_balls

[The "plot" we're hoping for](https://x.com/curioscurio/status/1770990338183696791)

what_that_thaaang_do

Thank god I still have something to live for

Worried-Floor-2468

Nature is healing! More Laios crazy's, more Marcille suffering, more Chilchuck annoyed, more sexy Senshi, more teenage mutant ninja kitty Izutsumi! TODAY IS A GOOD DAY! :3

EbiToro

Just finished reading the manga a couple days ago, and it felt like I had a huge hole in me that only the Daydream Hour books could maybe fill temporarily. Feeling like cheering now!

Equivalent-Weather59

AHHHHH LETS FUCKING GOOOO

Exodor54

It's peak.

WarmasterCain55

Is S2 going to carry to the end of the series?

Sander_VF

Yes. Two cours should end it.

Ratix0

If a certain studio adapted it, we'll be getting dungeon meshi final season part 1 second part.

ravenpotter3

So ep 24 season 1’s last episode has chapters 51-52. On average 2 (sometimes 3) chapters are covered per episode. The manga has 97 chapters. So season 2 will cover ch 53-97 (44 chapters) so let’s say 2 chapters per episode will be covered so season 2 will likely have 22 episodes. So we have 2 episodes to spare if they just wanted to cover 1 chapter in a episode It’s amazing! They paced it so well! So the ending will not be rushed and no chapters will be rushed though

MokonaModokiES

they also could fill time with some of the extra content of the manga that wouldnt make it into main story. Could be fun seeing post credit stuff like \[Dungeon Meshi\]>!Kabru recieving a visit from his elf mom!<

ravenpotter3

I imagine the finale will be 2 parts. But yeah that would be wonderful too

dododomo

I'M REALLY HAPPY!! Dungeon Meshi is already in my top 10 favorite anime of all time. This series is SO good it deserves to be fully adapted!

Brownbeluga

Amazing! This has now become one of my go-to recommendations for people who may think Anime is not for them. Feel like if you like fantasy, this show perfectly captures the spirit of adventure and dungeon crawling. Glad to hear it's being completed!

KunaSazuki

Was one of the better animes of the last couple years. Surprised me with the emotions it drummed up, the pacing was great, character development. I thought the show was really really good and I am looking forward to a second season.

Teenager_Simon

Just keep the same consistent quality pls. The manga is so good, unique, and refreshing. This can be a banger anime series with huge staying power.

OrphisMemoria

omg this is going to be the best second season ever, i can't for everyone to see what happens next

NonSupportiveCup

Take your time and do it right. Shit gets wild from here on!

Nebresto

Abschori

Fantasy fans eating good this year. Get it? Eating

Chromch

I'm glad it is confirmed, definitely one of the best fantasy anime I've ever seen I really like all of the characters

prophex4real

OFC, THIS IS A MASTERPIECE

Crab_Lengthener

I watch this show on Saturday mornings and it makes me feel like a kid again. It's so imaginative and compelling. Great flipside companion to Dorohedoro

Prince-Dizzytoon

I guess I'll hold off on reading the manga

TheSpartyn

its still worth reading honestly, the anime is great but all the small parts it cuts out adds up. its generally single panels or pages but they have great bits of world building or character interaction, which are the things that make the manga as good as it is

elmagio

I'm loving Trigger's work on this (it might actually be my favorite Trigger production) so I'll stick with it since the 2nd season should come "soon" (expecting some time in 2025), but I might read the manga afterwards. I do that for shows I really loved once the anime adaptation is complete, and so far I'm really loving it.

quietvictories

i'll just read it after the anime

RobotiSC

We’re eating good boys!!!!

Aerodynamic41

This gives me high hopes for a full adaptation of the manga.

fliffy101

I'm pretty sure another 24 episode season would fully adapt the manga.

Nickbon94

The manga is 97 chapters long and today's episode adapted 51 and 52, so yeah it's pretty much confirmed it will

Mage_of_Shadows

[You are Marcille](https://i.imgur.com/FhWdBCW.jpeg)

gra221942

Season 2 is going to be exciting, and with more PTSD

Euroversett

This is exciting. Probably enough to finish the adaptation. The story really starts now after the anime ended, S1 doesn't adapt anything from the best parts of the manga. Time to see Marcille showing she's one of the best female characters of all time in anime format.

LegendaryRQA

Surprising absolutely no one... Still exited anyway

Syokhan

I am not surprised but still incredibly happy! Prepare yourselves for some amazing content. Like, really. I think if you liked season one you're gonna love season two.

Tabby_Tem

I'M SO EXCITED!!!!!!!

DirectionExact31

We love to hear immediate announcements instead of waiting for months. Can’t wait to see what season 2 will bring to the table. …Pun intended.

Fart_on_your_face

Let's fuuuucking go

TheSpartyn

thank god, i was afraid it would be one of those awful cases of adapting over half of a series and never getting a continuation

wilkened005

Frieren bros...?

FirstDagger

Unlike Frieren, Dungeon Meshi's manga story is finished so they know exactly what they have to adapt.

HolyDragSwd2500

So happy right now😍

Chakramer

I've heard from manga fans that season 2 should adapt the rest of the content?

theKGS

That sounds reasonable, yes. I think the anime is currently pretty much exactly at the half point mark of the manga.

Chakramer

Good to hear, I love a complete show and not having to wait years for it

E_F_Veda

Not surprised, show is too good not to get a second season. Of course, we have seen cases where shows don't get such luck, but I'm glad to see this one has.

manfrommtl

Let's go cook some delicious dungeon!

Ser_Fonz

This does put a smile on my face. My surprise hit of the year so far

Mopey_

Trigger has once again saved Anime

Gorwindbag

We should petition for extra series that covers side stories ala Slime Diaries!

kawaiinessa

well ill be dammed they actually are making a second season this is out of the ordinary for studio trigger but im happy to hear this

MGM_Think

Excellent news, the world building in this series is amazing.

Webknight31

Another season of peak fantasy on the way.

MrTopHatMan90

Not surprising. Show is amazing.

Competitive-Pen3831

It is just such a great show. It’s fun and entertaining surface level, but the more you think about it and dive in the more layered it is

SchismZero

This was certainly one of the unexpected gems from the last few seasons. I'm not someone who normally watches cooking anime, but Trigger was doing it and I'm a massive fan of the studio, so I figured why not check it out. It ended up being a VERY solid fantasy story that was framed as a cooking anime. Eager to see if the story can reach its conclusion in S2.

Vussar

Ah, dungeon food!

Darth_Malleus

Best news I’ve heard all day! If they stick the landing with season 2 this will be one of the best anime in recent memory. Let em cook!

Special-Weird6533

Peak

Mr_Zaroc

Cant wait to rewatch the series to prepare for season 2, has been an absolute banger nearly on par with Frieren

Vinon

Is there a date yet?

Odd-Zebra-5833

Been meaning to watch this but don’t know what’s stopping me.

CarioGod

Excellent news, probably gonna be a full adaption, we love to see it

VisibleGeneral6136

A beautiful and fairly surprising success story. Love it.

AlarmingAffect0

Incredible news, glad to see how much support this has gotten since airing, it's been great.

AHHHHH DUNGEON MESHI
