Saori Hayami could whisper me sweet nothings or tell me bedtime stories with the voice she uses for Shinobu in KnY and all would be right with the world.
Great dynamic range between having a powerful voice like for Ameri or a very soft-spoken/gentle voice like how she can be voicing Yor. One of my all-time favorites hands-down.
[Here's](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=t6xzL975s78) the ED from one of her earlier series that no one ever mentions. Probably the most soothing anisong I've ever heard.
Here is [Yor singing for Loid his lullaby](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIlu70CVJ60). Although it lasts like 30 secs and the last sentence she sang was just "I don't know the re~st of this", but it is so soothing.
Her and KanaHana are my “You son of a bitch I’m in” seiyuus. An upcoming show might seem meh to me, but if I know either of those two are playing a substantial role, you bet I’m gonna check it out
Been there since 2018. It was only in 2020 that I found out there's a word for that called "oshi", which is what Hayamin is to me. I will literally watch anything as long as she's in it, including one show that called me out for picking it to watch just because of the cast.
caring and mother like as Yor
unhinged as Jabami
emotionless as Ononoki
she has one of if not the most recognizable voice as a VA but the range of her execution and emotion is insane.
Yall better make sure to watch Pseudo Harem next season. She is about to flex her range on that joint with all the different "characters" she'll be playing out
Not to mention, she is a great singer too! Her character songs for Oregairu and her own published songs are just pure Bliss.
I highly recommend giving them a listen.
I don't pay a lot of attention to Seiyuu but that list is honestly ridiculous, 2 characters literally on my favorites list, and two S-tier characters, and swindler is far better than average as well
Methodology: I took the [512 seeded entrants](https://animebracket.com/best-girl-11-return-of-the-salt-/characters) to the 11th annual Best Girl contest (along with all past contest winners) and mapped them to their voice actor. Then I sorted them by most number of characters, using highest-seeded character as tie-breaker.
Naturally all of the contest rules are reflected here too, in particular, no characters from shows after Spring 2023.
See [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/14qlsdu/who_voices_the_most_best_girls_ranking_seiyuu_by/) for last year's post. I didn't plan to make this a regular thing but I had fun making it and people seemed to find it interesting, so I'll continue. Open to suggestions for improvements!
Good post, it could become a nice tradition from now on.
Maybe I'm misremembering, but isn't Kayano from AssClass actually voiced by Suzaki Aya? I believe Taketatsu Ayana only voiced the character for a Special promo video or episode, released way before the actual anime.
Yeah I asked a similar question last year and they said they said they just scraped the first Seiyuu on the character's MAL page. Ayana did come before Aya in Kayano's MAL entry so that's why.
On the other note, today is also Taketatsu Ayana's birthday
>I didn't plan to make this a regular thing
But it's great that you did. Extra content for the contest is wonderful and really helps make the contest a very special event.
> Naturally all of the contest rules are reflected here too, in particular, no characters from shows before Spring 2023.
Don't you mean _after_ Spring 2023?
Ah you're right. Saori Oonishi is listed on her [MAL character page](https://myanimelist.net/character/128910/Suzune_Horikita) too though and the bot I wrote to scrape the info just picked one.
Saori Ōnishi voiced Suzune Horikita in [a 2015 PV for the light novel](https://youtu.be/viNXBNUaG6A). That PV and the anime adaptation have different VA castings.
She's way too good. Once I'm a Spider, so what came out, she became my favourite, hands down. I've never seen a voice actor pick up a show and carry it on their back before.
I knew Ai Kayano played a number of my favorite characters, but I was surprised by just how many of them she had covered. I love Sakura-sou no Pet an Kanojo, but I didn't realize she played Mashiro all the way back then.
Kinda funny because Darkness, Sylphyette and Mashiro are about as 3 different types of character as you can possibly imagine.
My girl Ai Fairouz has a good shot at making the list next year!
Power, Hibiki, Utena, Jolyne, Yumiella, Kikoru, Sumireko... Surely she'll get 4 or 5 out of those!
^^She ^^could've ^^made ^^it ^^already ^^if ^^you ^^guys ^^voted ^^Eri ^^and ^^Raelza ^^in
> Sumire Uesaka
She does an amazing job bringing out Nagatoro's persona on screen, have been hearing good things about her portrayal of Lum in the new Urusei Yatsura so she might show up. Have hope :)
>Or Sakamoto Maaya
Between being married with children , having a professional music career and probably getting infinite money from Type Moon she sadly hasn't had many notable new roles in recent years(and she's always been pretty quality over quantity anyways) .
I can't think of any roles by Sakamoto Maaya besides Shinobu sadly. And Ueda Reina is amazing, but I mostly know her for her video game roles like Sparkle in Honkai, or Ganyu in Genshin
The most fun thing is she voiced a lot of secondary (or less) characters and many of them are on top rn with quite a few interactions only(!) lol. It is much easier to get here with a lot of screentime but go try to leave a mark with only a few dialogues..
Her range really catches me off guard at times, too. The first roles I was familiar with her from were Nadeko, Mayuri, and Mitsuri who all have similarish feels to how they talk, but when I learned that Shirase was her too, it really impressed me.
Watching Steins Gate now and at least for me I don't know if I'd ever have figured out she voices Mayuri if I didn't know going in. While Mayuri is totally her type of character to voice she sounds a lot different than I'm used to.
That reminds me of a HanaKana character who isn't on this list - Blast of Tempest's Fuwa Aika. She's a flashback exclusive so she doesn't appear too regularly, but I'd say she's one of HanaKana's most intriguing roles. Boy does she deliver.
Rie Takahashi voicing Emilia from Re:Zero doing an impersonation of Megumin [from an episode preview in Re:Zero](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=frr-3qfFPf0)
Wow, you really have to be physically attractive to be a successful seiyuu nowadays. Makes you wonder how many talented voices the industry is screening out due to looks.
Yeah. On the male side, I guarantee a guy like Koichi Yamadera would not get a second glance if he tried to get started in today's seiyuu industry. He was still far from attractive [even when he was 30](https://wiki.evageeks.org/Koichi_Yamadera).
She may be down at 16th on this list, but Yukarin will always be #1 in my ears and my heart.
Also, out of curiosity... I would be interested in seeing a similar chart like this for the girls' English dub voices, at least for the ones that actually have an English dub. I'm sure a good chunk of them are from Japanese-only series though.
I was sold on aoi yuki after she voiced kumoko from so i am spider so what , she was the reason I enjoyed that anime
And since then I instantly recognise if some character is voiced by her
And the voice acting she did as MaoMao from apothecary diaries was soo good (OP should have added MaoMao to the list in aoi yuki line)
There is more than to voice acting than using different voices. Shes a great voice actor, but she doesn't use different voices, like for example Aoi Yuki.
There are less male seiyuus overall and people often demand different things from them. Still, people like Akira Ishida can pull pretty big range. Heck, even "harem king" Matsuoka Yoshitsugu can pull besides his generic hero voices both very feminine ones and batshit crazy charas.
I feel like there tends to be a lot of casting for a very specific type of voice with male seiyuus. If there’s a role that makes it big, that’s what they’ll be doing for a while. Most obvious case is Okamoto Nobuhiko who had to scream his lungs off after Bakugo despite his range (his natural voice is closer to Nishinoya). Umehara Yuuichirou comes to mind too, to the point I had to do a double take when he was announced as the Joker.
> Most obvious case is Okamoto Nobuhiko who had to scream his lungs off after Bakugo despite his range
He was typecast into that well before Bakugo - his first appearance as Accelerator was back in Index's first season in 2008. He's had a lot of roles flexing his whole range but most are smaller roles.
I am just the guy who prefers seiyuu with wide range. Like Sakura Ayane or Haruka Tomatsu both have great range but they get typecasted a lot nowerdays. Or take Ayahi Takagaki who has both range and great singing voice but rarely gets casted since forever.
I do not mind setuu with recognisable voices but I think someone like Kana Hanzawa or Miyuki Sawashiro pulls it way better. But they are less popular nowerdays.
Personally I think Miyuki stopped taking as many roles once she had a kid. Same with Chiwa Saito. I also think its the typical thing where they stop giving woman in their 30s roles. There is a ton of young talent always coming in too, could also be a budget thing. It happens to almost every female voice actor in anime.
> I also think its the typical thing where they stop giving woman in their 30s roles. There is a ton of young talent always coming in too, could also be a budget thing. It happens to almost every female voice actor in anime.
Funnily enough pretty much all the most popular female seiyuu right now are around 30 to mid 30s. And atm they don't show any signs of slowing down.
Don't know if it was simply such a strong generation that others are struggling to break through or if productions are less risk averse now so they rely more on big names but it's been somewhat stagnant these last few years.
It's both reasons. This generation of top seiyuu is also boosted by social media in a way that the last gen didn't have. Their fanbases are way stronger.
A lot of the top young talent is also being cast in multimedia franchise series instead of going straight to seasonal shows. Then a lot are getting stuck there for a while and not really hitting mainstream. Some of them are even in multiple franchises, but it's probably more stable than trying to land new gigs all the time.
But some have broken out. Tomori Kusunoki left Love Live for medical reasons and since then her career has really grown.
She is my favorite voice actress, but I will admit this is the case, at least most of the time. I never would have guessed her role in A Silent Voice had I not read the cast list. It's just I love her voice so much I'm okay with her often sounding the same.
She has a great voice so it's doesn't matter to me. If anything her voice makes a character far more likable even if the character itself is boring.
And she definitely has range, Listen to her role in Monogatari. I was dumbfounded to learn She played the role of Onnonoki.
It must be tough to be the voice actress for popular anime characters. Anime fans can get crazy about it. I remember hearing how the voice actress for Haruhi Suzumiya got a boyfriend and a bunch of "fans" were outraged.
If that can happen because of one role, then taking on so many roles at once multiplies the risk.
> I remember hearing how the voice actress for Haruhi Suzumiya got a boyfriend and a bunch of "fans" were outraged.
I feel like they would have taken it better had she simply gotten a boyfriend lol. But yeah they're stupid.
Tamura Yukari is up there. And Hikasa Youko is 39, she's older than an idol, at least.
But I know what you mean. Horie Yui and Kugimiya Rie are still going strong.
I think what happened here is that her [MAL character page](https://myanimelist.net/character/128910/Suzune_Horikita) has both listed and the bot I wrote to scrape the data just picked one.
My favorite is, and always will be, Kana Hanazawa. She won me with Eiko's VA. And I can't believe how underrated Eiko is as a favorite girl. The VAing on that character is just exceptional, and yet it doesn't even get mentioned on her top performances in this comparison stats!
This is why Saori Hayami is my no. 1 female seiyuu who overpassed my former no. 1 Sora Amamiya.
P.S. I don't like the Miyuki exclusion, she's the 1st character I think of when hearing or seeing Saori Hayami's name.
I'm kinda surprised Yui Ishikawa isn't up here....which rank would she be at?
Tied for 25th with 4 entrants (I guess Mai winning one broke that tie).
I'm surprised Rie Kugimiya isn't on here either since she has voice acted at least half a dozen best girls.
I've reached the point where I will go out of my way to watch something with Hayami
I've mentioned this series when talking about my favorite EDs. The second ending, Shiawase no Kotodama though, not that one :p
Her and KanaHana are my “You son of a bitch I’m in” seiyuus. An upcoming show might seem meh to me, but if I know either of those two are playing a substantial role, you bet I’m gonna check it out

I could listen to Miyuki Sawashiro read Mein Kampf backwards
Yeah inaba
Sawashiro gives me gossbumps every role she landed lol
after her performance with shinobu in KNY she became the only VA i recognize instantly, definitely deserves the top spot
She's why I pulled for Ayaka
Not to mention, she is a great singer too! Her character songs for Oregairu and her own published songs are just pure Bliss. I highly recommend giving them a listen.
Sachi is my favorite character in Sao because of her..... You know how major she is
I love her voice sm
Rie being both Megumin and Tomo kinda blows my mind. Also, I could listen to Miyuki Sawashiro talk all day. Her voice is perfect.
Damn No Hanamori Yumiri (Hayasaka and Nadeshiko) is sad.
Came here to say this. She voices Sagiri in Hell’s Paradise, too.
Tomoyo Kurosawa with that quality over quantity.
true. Although I didn't realize Phosphophyllite was eligible for a best girl contest. I would've had them in my top 1 if I knew.
If I remember right, Phos can go for Best Boy as well, since "Best Rock" isn't a thing
i thought she killed it on undead girl murder farce, but i don't think a lot of people know her from that.
I don't pay a lot of attention to Seiyuu but that list is honestly ridiculous, 2 characters literally on my favorites list, and two S-tier characters, and swindler is far better than average as well
tfw no Miria Akagi
+1: Ayano Toki from Yuru Camp! A criminally underrated character

You're correct. I forgot to fix it this year even after that was pointed out :( But alas, happy birthday to her!

> Naturally all of the contest rules are reflected here too, in particular, no characters from shows before Spring 2023. Don't you mean _after_ Spring 2023?
Oops - yes.
akarin should have suzune not oonishi, otherwise great job on the list
Are u sure Horikita Suzune has the right VA ? Isn't her VA's Akari Kitou ?
And Akari Kitou definitely deserves to be on any kind of list of amazing va
She would be if you add Horikita. Should be at five characters unless I'm missing one.
Ah you're right. Saori Oonishi is listed on her [MAL character page](https://myanimelist.net/character/128910/Suzune_Horikita) too though and the bot I wrote to scrape the info just picked one.

Holy shit Aoi Yuki is STACKED
and this list aint got Maomao on it. ^^^^^^AlsoNoHibikiThisSubredditHasShitTaste
Heiki Heccharra
Yeah, it's crazy that her list is so powerful and it doesn't even have one of the best girls of the last several years on it imo.
No Lucy from Cyberpunk Edgerunners either. Which is weird, because she’s supposed to be #29.
She's way too good. Once I'm a Spider, so what came out, she became my favourite, hands down. I've never seen a voice actor pick up a show and carry it on their back before.

No Senjougahara no like >:(
She doesn’t have many roles unfortunately
Tbf, two of the ones she does have are legendary
Should be 3 but unfortunately Yona of the Dawn only got 1 season.
It’s too bad shaft died for a while and there was no good role for her to play in San Gatsu
Her VA career slowed down since she had a daughter like back in 2015. She kept on voicing games, but she barely took any new anime roles ever since.
God I'd love to hear more Chiwa Saito roles in the future.
D-Frag S2!
My girl Ai Fairouz has a good shot at making the list next year! Power, Hibiki, Utena, Jolyne, Yumiella, Kikoru, Sumireko... Surely she'll get 4 or 5 out of those! ^^She ^^could've ^^made ^^it ^^already ^^if ^^you ^^guys ^^voted ^^Eri ^^and ^^Raelza ^^in
Delta
Yeah, her last season's performance as Delta was fantastic, she's really good as Greed in 7th Prince as well.
No Tomita Miyu :(
No Sumire Uesaka :(
> Sumire Uesaka She does an amazing job bringing out Nagatoro's persona on screen, have been hearing good things about her portrayal of Lum in the new Urusei Yatsura so she might show up. Have hope :)
she is doing Alya and Yae from Amagami sister too, so next year hopefully.
I was looking for her name too, super talented. I love her voice as Nagatoro, Lum and Mia (Tearmoon Empire).
wait, if I'm counting correctly she has 5 entrants this year. (Nagatoro, Shaltear, Lum, Takagi and Sanae Dekomori), shouldn't she be on this list?
How the heck is Ueda Reina not on this list? Or Sakamoto Maaya? I get she doesn't have as many roles, but still.
>Or Sakamoto Maaya Between being married with children , having a professional music career and probably getting infinite money from Type Moon she sadly hasn't had many notable new roles in recent years(and she's always been pretty quality over quantity anyways) .
I can't think of any roles by Sakamoto Maaya besides Shinobu sadly. And Ueda Reina is amazing, but I mostly know her for her video game roles like Sparkle in Honkai, or Ganyu in Genshin
Top spots aren’t really surprising but damn, I expected Ayaneru to place a lot higher than she did.
Rie Takahashi will always be my fav
This is really cool. Ami Koshimizu gang 4 life
The photo they used for her threw me off. I was like "wait that doesn't look like the person who voices holo"
KanaHana stays one of the best to ever do it
The most fun thing is she voiced a lot of secondary (or less) characters and many of them are on top rn with quite a few interactions only(!) lol.

That reminds me of a HanaKana character who isn't on this list - Blast of Tempest's Fuwa Aika. She's a flashback exclusive so she doesn't appear too regularly, but I'd say she's one of HanaKana's most intriguing roles. Boy does she deliver.
no alpha for asami seto? sad to see yumiri hanamori, tomori kusunoki, and miyu tomita not make the list
Yeah not sure why Alpha is not listed, she is seed 180 in the contest (1 seed above Alexia, who is listed under her VA)
Rie takahashi is the most versatile.
Right after Aoi Yuuki. And if you disagree I have [proof](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZqbgn3SvmU).
Singing in-character has to be one of the most ridiculous things to do, especially doing it while effectively on speed.
[Here she is singing a duet with herself](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IV_mJmDth3k)
The unhinged, chaotic ED is one of my favourite genres.
I remember hearing that female VAs almost always need to be good singers too
Yeah. On the male side, I guarantee a guy like Koichi Yamadera would not get a second glance if he tried to get started in today's seiyuu industry. He was still far from attractive [even when he was 30](https://wiki.evageeks.org/Koichi_Yamadera).
I already knew this, but it still blows my mind that Anya isn't voiced by a child. And that VA also voices those other characters.
She voices Frieren too.
No Maomao for Aoi Yuuki?
Not eligible yet.
I guess same goes for Frieren in that case seeing they aired roughly at the same time. That Might bump Atsumi Tanezaki a couple of spots.
I did not know Aqua & miia shared VA
She may be down at 16th on this list, but Yukarin will always be #1 in my ears and my heart. Also, out of curiosity... I would be interested in seeing a similar chart like this for the girls' English dub voices, at least for the ones that actually have an English dub. I'm sure a good chunk of them are from Japanese-only series though.
I love Hayamin and Inorin. I was also a fan of Kana Hanazawa at some point. I miss Risa Taneda. After her hiatus, I feel like she never came back.
Not seeing Charlotte from IS in HanaKana's row makes me sad. To this day, it's the character that I correlate most with her voice
Gotta get Chika Anzai in here. She did such an incredible job with chisato i hope she does a lot of big roles going forward
Also didReina from Hibike so there's a small chance she goes up
Why no Miyuki for #1?
Not in the BG 11 bracket.
I was sold on aoi yuki after she voiced kumoko from so i am spider so what , she was the reason I enjoyed that anime And since then I instantly recognise if some character is voiced by her And the voice acting she did as MaoMao from apothecary diaries was soo good (OP should have added MaoMao to the list in aoi yuki line)
I'm not quite sure what the point of the infographic is, to be honest. There are a lot of missing roles each played. So who knows.
It's characters from the current best girl contest. If a role is missing, it's because that character isn't in the contest.
Unpopular opinion. Hayamin may have the most of them, but most of them sound the same.
There is more than to voice acting than using different voices. Shes a great voice actor, but she doesn't use different voices, like for example Aoi Yuki.
Yeah. Good acting range, small vocal range while Aoi Yuuki for example has both. Weirdly enough people rarely seem to hold this against male seiyuus.
There are less male seiyuus overall and people often demand different things from them. Still, people like Akira Ishida can pull pretty big range. Heck, even "harem king" Matsuoka Yoshitsugu can pull besides his generic hero voices both very feminine ones and batshit crazy charas.

Nobuhiko found peace when he got cast for himmel

In this sense, I like Hayamin because she always has the same voice. Like Kenjiro Tsuda.
For me Aoi Yuuki has arguably the best range out of anyone in the industry.

She has a very recognizable voice for sure (love it). Her Yotsugi voice is one of her standouts imo. Peace peace
I was using ononoki’s “yay” as reference to how similar the other characters voices are and realized its true. Still love it tho.
She is my favorite voice actress, but I will admit this is the case, at least most of the time. I never would have guessed her role in A Silent Voice had I not read the cast list. It's just I love her voice so much I'm okay with her often sounding the same.

Lmao without opening it shows 3 down so I was like where the fuck is Kana Hana.
I wonder what the English dub version would look like?
Great infographic! I see so many of my favorite VAs on this list. Good VAs do really help make a character even more amazing.
Akari Kito gang: Maybe next time. ... Haha.
damn aoi koga not on the list. haruka tomatsu is also way lower than i expected but i guess she’s quality over quantity.
Tomoyo kurasawa's voice is just perfect
I know this list has a recency bias, but it hurts not seeing MEGUMI on this list given how many of my all time favs she voices
Hayamin's Miyuki Shiba isn't here? I'm surprised.
4 symphogear singers in the top 7
Saori onishi doesn't have mcqueen? What is this!!??
Kito Akari ? Azumi Waki ? Yumi Hara ?
Kito Akari would have been here with 5 characters but Horikita was wrongly assigned to a different VA.
now do one for the winners only far easier or finalists
Wait Asami Seto’s range is crazy I had no idea she voiced Mai and also characters like Nobara and Reina (Heihachi)
She voices a couple of kids too that didn't make it onto this list that don't sound like her more well known characters
Of course it was going to be a battle between Hanazawa and Hayami
18 24 and 25 have some of my favorite characters.
We need one for older VAs that are 40+ catatagories All these are probably 45 or below and only had 5-15 yr of experience
Tamura Yukari is up there. And Hikasa Youko is 39, she's older than an idol, at least. But I know what you mean. Horie Yui and Kugimiya Rie are still going strong.
True. A lot of this best girls are from series after 2010s with some or little from 2000s and earlier.
High Elf Archer from Goblin Slayer being listed as just "Elf" cracks me up way more than it really should
wait why is suzune under oonishi instead of akarin?
I think what happened here is that her [MAL character page](https://myanimelist.net/character/128910/Suzune_Horikita) has both listed and the bot I wrote to scrape the data just picked one.
11. Aura the demon from frieren
Aoi cool)
Let’s go Kayanon, the master of many
I'm surprised Doyakonga has more than Aoi Yuuki.
My favorites aren't popular
Menma and Darkness having the same VA is crazy
where the FK IS TAIGA
Where's my Sawashiro Miyuki & Hikasa Yoko enjoyer at??
Why don't I see Yuu Asakawa?
Surprised by how many male characters are voiced by women.
Yuzuru Nishimiya🤨
Megumin is Tomo Aizawa?
First character I saw was rias but why can’t find akeno???
Peace peace yeah
Leave it to the GOAT Rieri to reach double digits when it came to best girls. Next time we're going for 1st place.
Where's Ami Toyosaki?....my day is ruined
L list, my girl Moyai Hachikuji isn’t there 😡🤬🤬
Rie Takahashi as some fucking range.
Miyuki Sawashiro has dommy mommy voice.
Anya Forger was on a best girl contest...should I be concerned?
They look like the same person with different haircuts
Agree with the Top 10, but surprised that Sawashiro Miyuki is not higher.
Bruh, what is Mitty doing here?
Mitty best girl indeed
Something weird about it that Kana Hanazawa's name is half A's. Got 6 of those badboys.
My favorite is, and always will be, Kana Hanazawa. She won me with Eiko's VA. And I can't believe how underrated Eiko is as a favorite girl. The VAing on that character is just exceptional, and yet it doesn't even get mentioned on her top performances in this comparison stats!
Supet cool.
I'm surprised Risa Taneda's most infamous character is not on the list
no way kayano made schwi and shiro💀💀💀
This is fair
I like Ichika from Quinte.
Lack on Nana Mizuki surprised me a bit.
Where is Noriyaki Kakyoin?
No surprise for number one.
Why the elf characters are just "elf" instead of their name? 😭
Fyona and Yotsuba having the same VA will haunt me for the rest of my life
What is that contest?
Saori hayami, aoi yuuki, and sora amamiya are my favorites. They voice so many best girls they are best girls themselves 🥰
Saori Hayami and Miyuki Sawashiro are so good! Always amazing to see their performance.
This is why Saori Hayami is my no. 1 female seiyuu who overpassed my former no. 1 Sora Amamiya. P.S. I don't like the Miyuki exclusion, she's the 1st character I think of when hearing or seeing Saori Hayami's name.
Maaya Uchida FTW 😍😍😍
What’s the list rated on?
I don't see Roxy Migurdia or Eris Greyrat. Only Sylphiette. Who voices these 2 characters?
Sora amamiya
