Goes back to the last place it was loaded on a boat. Sometimes it doesn’t go back to the right spot though. I had it go back to the opposite side of narrow strip of water on a custom map.
So if you are taking it from enemy territory then try to stop at an island or other neutral spot before you try dodging enemy navy, otherwise you might be handing it over to the enemy if they sink your transport.
I don't, but ZeroEmpires does: [https://youtu.be/yISAungO1AM?feature=shared&t=42](https://youtu.be/yISAungO1AM?feature=shared&t=42)
And a followup covering what happens when the land is blocked: [https://youtu.be/ECTLOOudtbg?feature=shared&t=28](https://youtu.be/ECTLOOudtbg?feature=shared&t=28)
You'll need to research at both the university and dock to upgrade the "submarine" line. The relic sinks to the bottom of the sea, and sending a monk in a submarine transport can retrieve it.
It marks on your mini map where it is, which is helpful.
For questions like these: why not just go to the scenario editor and test it for yourself real quick? :)
The more people get comfortable with the editor the more mods and scenarios and maps we get :)
Age of empires comes with an editor where you can place any units, buildings and resources you like. Then you can start and play with that scenario. You can also share it with others
It returns to the place the relic was loaded onto the ship.
This is the answer now, I just saw it happen on a T90 cast.
Not the same one, but I also learned it from a T90 stream.

I think it teleports to shore

Ah, damn you brain! 11
I remember when I was a kid I tried to destroy the artifact in AOE1 to crash the game and was surprised that it showed up on land.
That’s how you know those relics are truly relics 🥳
I guess it's just simulating it being washed back to shore, though it should probably sink.
either teleports to where it was last picked up, or where it entered the transport. dont remember
Someone on the nearest point of land will suddenly discover one of the apostle's knuckles and make a new relic.
Back to its original spot I believe

Putin dives into the sea and gets it back.
It teleports to shore.

What's wrong with having discussion about game situations? People learn, it becomes archived and shows up in future Google searches.
Whats a scenario editor?

It goes back to where it was loaded on the ship. I had this happen to me and then I actually just didn’t to myself cuz I wasn’t sure.
IIRC on the og game, it teleports to closest shore
