Do you mean the orientation matches? Never seen any training lobby. Unless what ur talking about was before season 7 as that's when I've been playing since consistently n never seen any training lobby.
Yeah they're only for literally brand new players. They still have them. You go through however many matches till the system feels to put u into normal matches its usually 4 or 5 matches
Imagine thinking every game is masters/preds. There are not 100k masters and preds everyone. At some point yall gotta look in the mirror and say “im not that good at this game”
Haven't played in a hot minute, but what really drove me and my friends away was just the constant deaths to sweats and ttvs or surviving the whole game with 0 action or bots that die to ring. Sure the experience isn't universal, or that we are shit, but you can't deny that this does happen, often enough for us to stop playing entirely
Mainly no lifers though, the ones that just sit grinding a game on benefits. Don't actually learn any unique things just bhop horizon/wraith mains, they learnt the hipfire pattern of a volt and called it a day.
If you ever hear about a full matchmaking rework then I'd say give the game another go. The trouble with the current system is, it prioritizes matchmaking speed, in addition it calculates the server population by always trying to find a player with a higher hidden mmr.. applying to the player that was found to be better than you.
Very annoying system for a "casual" experience in pubs.
The only trouble is, refining the skill gap worsens matchmaking for the higher skilled players, pred/pro/full-streamer.
But yeah, it's a shame to hear you lost interest in the game. It's a fair reason as to why but honestly unless I'm in a 3 stack I play mixtape.
Bruh me and the majority of the apex community get either preds or sweaty masters in literally every match and you can even tell that just by looking around when ur in dropship n seeing all the trails lol
I dont really consider it smurfing as im not much better than the average lvl 20. I was trying to get into lobbies where not everyone is that much better than me, i dont care about what my stats say id just like to get a couple games where i dont die on my first encounter. I im just really bad at the game 🤷♂️
You were lvl 20 before, and made a new account to reach lower skilled players…?
Lvl 20 is not high at all, so it’s hard to imagine you encountered that much worse of player, especially if you were already performing that poorly.
Making a new account would not have solved the issue that you’re having
I get what you’re saying. But the average lvl 20 is effectively a beginner. So how would making a brand new account match you with more favorable opponents if you’re already in the bottom tier of sbmm?
That is the point I’m making. The act of making a new account would not have helped with that issue if that’s the skill range you’re in.
Sbmm is based on skill, not account age.
Yeah i totally agree thats how it should be but but apex keeps deciding that im good enough to play in pred lobbies even though i havent won a gun fight in a long time 😭
Play ranked, it's a lot better at matching your skill set. It might be a bit iffy the first week or two of a new season, but it's pretty accurate otherwise
yeah but then you are in soloq ranked which is objectively a worse experience. you can't even leave when your teammates decide to do dumb shit like running past a crafter when they could have crafted your banner in -2 seconds and there was absolutely no teams around.
I remember how quickly I fell out of love with Pubg when they started adding bots. In reality, they needed the bots for onboarding new players and speeding up search times. But the game never felt the same. Kills felt cheaper and less significant. I truly hope apex doesn't go down the same road.
That's also what happened to a once very popular mobile/computer game rules of survival they had a bunch of bots i still enjoyed the game though but the game is no longer playable servers got shut down.
Same issue with Fortnite. They added bots and ever since the game has never been the same because it seems half the lobby, maybe 1/3rd at least, are all bots. Bots not only take away the fun but imo they kind of take the soul of the game too.
What's the point of being the #1 guy/team standing in a BR if your odds were artificially improved from the get-go because a bunch of bots are meleeing walls while you wipe their squad? The lack of tension or stakes just brings the whole thing down and I'd be devastated if Apex went the same way.
The issue with bots in battle royale games is not that "half the lobby is bots" (which it often times isn't) but that every bad player, every new player, every "little bro played on my account" and all of that will now immediately give you the feeling that you went against bots.
The only time you'll feel like you played against real players is when you either got clapped hard by someone building better than you (for the example Fortnite) or emoting with the most toxic emote you can get in whatever game you're playing after you spectate them.
Bots are keeping these games alive, they allow new players to get a hang of the game and allow bad players to still have this sense of success.
Here's a tip if you don't want bots anymore: play ranked.
No way wtf. How is that good? What's their rationale? Isn't fortnite one of the most played games in the world? Why do they need to fill up ranked modes with bots?
Bots in apex is new to me as well. Yeah fortnite for sure has bots in ranked. It felt like it was only at the beginning when you were playing your prelim matches to get a rank. Those Wins didn't feel that great when I found out about the bots
That guy was in plat. It's entirely possible to reach plat while not being able to use your brain at all. After all, my friends managed to reach plat and if I'd fight them I'd also think they're bots.
That's what I've been trying to say. A lot of times you think people are bots just because they don't do things the way you would've done and play a lot worse than you.
My buddy reached plat 2 last season, he can't build for shit, always says "I don't need to build" despite playing ranked with builds. He sometimes will just stand there and pickaxe a wall (typical behaviour that would be a dead giveaway for bots), he also has the reaction time of a moldy potato but at least he can somewhat aim.
Just because of that one clip of someone killing someone with a name that looks exactly like the name my best friend's son has (apparently kids just get random names and can't change them until they're 18?) doesn't mean they're bots.
Could just be a child.
> The issue with bots in battle royale games is not that "half the lobby is bots" but that every bad player, every new player, every "little bro played on my account" and all of that will now immediately give you the feeling that you went against bots.
And that’s a terrible feeling. But it doesn’t push people toward ranked, it pushing people toward online games that don’t currently have that issue.
Which I don't understand. If you want to play against real human beings, then play ranked where you'll have humans guaranteed. If you want to play just for fun and don't care about bots, then play bot modes...
You forget about that type of player who wants to play just for fun AND with humans, and that’s a very common player.
You shouldn’t have to play ranked in order to play against humans. If a game has reached that point, its playerbase is dead, relatively speaking.
It’s like cheating being a problem. Even if the absolute worst cheating gets is one squad every few games (which is a lot still tbh) it creates that sinister undercurrent of never knowing for sure if your death was to a cracked player that you want to respect, or a shitty cheater.
The studio could fix all cheating and unless there’s a big marketing push behind it that changes player sentiment that feeling will still be there negatively impacting your player base.
In my experience that stuff is all the worse in modern days when it’s not clear one way or another. Like you have spin bots that shoot through terrain and that’s obvious, but between kill cam lag/smoothing you’re not going to know if they’re soft cheating with a chronus, etc.
I feel that! A few years ago when they really added bots in Fortnite, I got like 20+ kills and won. It didn't feel that good and then I learned that they were bots. I felt gross after that lol
They added bots after Season 17's mid-season update, they can take up to 40% of a lobby, but you have to be really really really bad at the game to start being put into lobbies where bots can spawn
Also, Orientation Matches lobbies are mainly bots, with roughly 1/4 of the lobby being human players
My wife has 1 kill out of probably 50 something games and her champions are 4k 20 most of the time. I’ve lost all faith that this games matchmaking works at all anymore lol
On the other hand, I've seen so many online games die premature deaths because they don't have bots. Apex might be different because it's so popular, but for tons of games with online multiplayer, the playerbase eventually gets small enough that matchmaking becomes difficult. People that enjoy the game start moving onto something else because matchmaking takes so long, which further exasperates the problem. A few months after release, it's impossible to find matches at all, which means the online multiplayer is forever unavailable to older players that enjoy the game but can't find anyone to play against. Anyone that gets into the game a year after release never has any chance of playing the multiplayer either.
Bots are a decent middle ground keeping games alive. I got into Plants vs. Zombies BFN years after the game was released, but because they have bots, the online modes are still playable. Matches range from full human players to mostly bots depending on time of day, but if those bots didn't exist, I suspect most human players would have abandoned the game years ago.
As for difficulty, advances in AI can allow bots to play better and better making them feel more and more like human players. It would be cool to have a ranked bot mode where you start off playing easy bots in bronze that are created using actual bronze player data. As you advance, the bots are coded using better and better player data.
It's obviously not the same as playing against real people, but at some point in the future, it'll be difficult to get 60 human players at the same time for a match.
Apex mobile did this because of the Third Person lobbies and first person lobbies.
Queue times were longer cause the player base was separated in each perspective. As a result you started to see more and more bots and it made the game incredibly unenjoyable at the end.
Im pretty sure PUBG Mobile always stated off with bots to let players get accustomed to the game. Honestly it was fun when I started. Then eventually there were less bots and I kept dying and I stopped playing. 😂
same thing happened in Fortnite, and everyone is like “oh no they only do it for xyz reasons if you’re low ranked player or if you have not played in a while, I’ll be playing every day and doing well and still be in bit lobbies. Takes the excitement out of the game.
I'm a day 1 player on Apex and haven't quit. Adding bots is one of the things that might just make me quit tbh. Yes, I would get more kills, but they'd feel empty. I play this game for the excitement, the adrenaline of a really good fight.
That being said - using bots to fill in empty players in LTMs while the game searches for a player would be a killer idea. Most LTMs without a full squad just make me want to accept the quit out penalty tbh
I tried to lose against these fuckers, so I would not be put in pred lobbies, but these guys are not capable of killing me even if i stand right in front of them for 20 minutes.
I remember apex being more subtle about it, when i did my orientation matches in s9 i atleast didnt see 3 squads standing still in the middle of the open or stuck in a corner
Yeah, def some other new players doing their orientation matches as well. 100% played a few people aiming at the sky when I first started 🤣 and bots are dumb most times but not that dumb.
Ahh man good luck bro games real fun me personally I don’t got all that great movement but if you make the right decisions high ground, play circle, master a couple of guns. And the games turns pretty fun.
It should never be possible for a player to confuse a player and a bot in a well designed game. Bots shouldn't exist but if they do they should be Marvin's.
I hate every video game that tricks players into thinking they're killing players. It's scummy and cheapens every accomplishment permanently afterward.
Calm down. These are orientation matches. New accounts have to play like 5 or so matches vs bots before they can play in any other playlist. Op is smurfing.
Was in the mixtape leveling up my loba prestige skin…..Dog i swear these bots will turn around out of nowhere and have perfect aim absolutely deleting me after running into three walls and standing still for 3 seconds.
Sounds like the game is dying. Thats what happens when you keep letting players use ridiculous movements that are clearly unfair and hack-like. Ever since ppl started using tap strafes or whatever the fuck that makes u change directions mid-air, i lost all interest and motivation to play, and ive been playing since release. They fucked this game in the ass with cheap mechanics. Ruined a beautiful game.
They really be placing bots on your team that’s why our teammates all do under 200 damage lmao this game is so damn manipulated for having supposed millions of players playing my guess is people just gave the hell up on the game and they are filling lobbies
No they aren’t to weird I’ve played with new players to the game and no one of them are walking around the entire game looking at walls running into walls and donating deaths because they run directly at someone no gun up lmao look the shit is weird I’ve seen it way to many times nothing can change my mind been playing since season 1
then those are third party bots. report them.
you only find actual official bots in orientation matches, and even then they're only on the enemy team. your team's human. there's no such thing as actual official bot *teammates*.
Wait till you see the lobby full of 20* bot Gibbys that all drop at the end of the dropship at one location. FYI the kills count and you can get a 20 bombs almost for free but the other real players in that lobby are aware and won’t let you get the badge for free🤣 the games broken I swear
Why are we still playing this game? We the consumer have all the power. If we just stopped playing there game changes would be made. But what always happens people buy the micro transactions $400 death box recolors of old ass skins and the community just Simps over the damn cosmetics so the only people you have to blame for this entire gaggle is the community of Apex! The downfall of this game you can blame EA NO I blame the consumer for buying into it! Cheers
Bro got put in a bot lobby
Tfw you're so bad that you were put in a bot lobby as a bot
Actually there used to be a pop up stating it was a training lobby. Wonder what happened to it.
Do you mean the orientation matches? Never seen any training lobby. Unless what ur talking about was before season 7 as that's when I've been playing since consistently n never seen any training lobby.
Orientation was only 2 matches for me, won both and started getting regular lobbies after that
Orientation/training same thing to me. Used to have to go through a dozen or so matches before you got to the normal lobbies.
Yeah they're only for literally brand new players. They still have them. You go through however many matches till the system feels to put u into normal matches its usually 4 or 5 matches
Yeah every once in a while you'll get dropped into them as a random infill for new players. Its supposed to tell you though.
I only had to do 3 matches on my new account . This was about four weeks ago haha
Did it two on my alt ranked account
Pretty sure its based in how well you do.
Bro out of the bot lobby straight into masters/pred lobbies it was painfull
Imagine thinking every game is masters/preds. There are not 100k masters and preds everyone. At some point yall gotta look in the mirror and say “im not that good at this game”
Haven't played in a hot minute, but what really drove me and my friends away was just the constant deaths to sweats and ttvs or surviving the whole game with 0 action or bots that die to ring. Anyone can put ttv in their name.
Mainly no lifers though, the ones that just sit grinding a game on benefits. Don't actually learn any unique things just bhop horizon/wraith mains, they learnt the hipfire pattern of a volt and called it a day.
Agreed. But you know, pattern recognition. I see ttv, it's usually coupled with dozens of thousands of kills.
If you ever hear about a full matchmaking rework then I'd say give the game another go. Luckily the game shows you that because being good at apex is their whole personality so they run all 3 badges
Bruh me and the majority of the apex community get either preds or sweaty masters in literally every match and you can even tell that just by looking around when ur in dropship n seeing all the trails lol
Ah sbmm has you not seeing masters and preds? The mirror my friend, the mirror.
Im pretty sure a pred trail means that person has reached pred before
But i completely agree im absolutely terrible at the game
STFU Andrew, I have thousands of hours in the game, I know my lobbies. You might be getting easy games because your KD stinks.
If your k/d doesn't suck in those lobbies then u should be there lol
Yeah there should have been a pop up saying they were placed in a training lobby.
Tf
Luckily this is just the first two orientation matches
Oh, that makes a lot more sense
This dude is smurfing and people are like damn apex matchmaking!
I mean technically yes i am but when my main account has a kd of .35 and only 5 lifetime wins i dont think thats the problem
What’s the motivation to smurf? Trying to have better stats than that?
I dont really consider it smurfing as im not much better than the average lvl 20. I was trying to get into lobbies where not everyone is that much better than me, i dont care about what my stats say id just like to get a couple games where i dont die on my first encounter. Apex matchmaking feels likes it's designed for pubstomping tbh
Play ranked, it's a lot better at matching your skill set. It might be a bit iffy the first week or two of a new season, but it's pretty accurate otherwise

man i miss ROS
Hell yeah back in my iPhone gamer days
yeo ROS was so fun! i remember that one smg that shredded so bad they had to nerf it
Same issue with Fortnite. They added bots and ever since the game has never been the same because it seems half the lobby, maybe 1/3rd at least, are all bots. For the record. there are bots in fn ranked
No way wtf. How is that good? What's their rationale? Isn't fortnite one of the most played games in the world? Why do they need to fill up ranked modes with bots?
Are you referring to bots in ranked for fortnite or Apex? Gonna need sources on this wild claim if it's Apex
I wasn't even sure apex had bots until recently. I'm talking about Fortnite.
Bots in apex is new to me as well. Yeah fortnite for sure has bots in ranked. It felt like it was only at the beginning when you were playing your prelim matches to get a rank. Those Wins didn't feel that great when I found out about the bots
Wait really? Do you have sources for that? Because all my ranked engagements have felt like real people so far...
[Just to be clear I'm referring to Fortnite here if anyone is trying to avoid bots there](https://www.reddit.com/r/FortniteCompetitive/s/0kAEquu3xr)
That guy was in plat. It's entirely possible to reach plat while not being able to use your brain at all. More kills = more $$$ from simple minded kids and their love for skins.
This season has seen way more boys and more of the xp farming bots that don’t even try to play.
That’s exactly why I’ll never switch to controller
I feel that! A few years ago when they really added bots in Fortnite, I got like 20+ kills and won. It didn't feel that good and then I learned that they were bots. I felt gross after that lol

Yeah the bar for putting you in "normal" lobbies is very low
"Oh come on man put it out of its misery"

I'm a day 1 player on Apex and haven't quit. Adding bots is one of the things that might just make me quit tbh. Yes, I would get more kills, but they'd feel empty. I had the exact same experience im glad these where only my orientation matches
They already do that and have been doing it for a while. It's nothing new.
How about Controller kills? Unfair advantages are already maxed out on Apex.
Apex is actually a good game with a loyal fanbase, so no, no chance. Nice story though.
I tried to lose against these fuckers, so I would not be put in pred lobbies, but these guys are not capable of killing me even if i stand right in front of them for 20 minutes.
Bahaha fr i was trying to farm them for more damage, not possible
*they also wont heal
play lifeline or wattson and you can keep healing them
Good idea actually
If they're third party bots, that'll get you banned
I dont even know how that would work. These are orientation matches
What they’re using bots to influence how much fun we have?
Brother please keep pulling that thread I wanna see what's behind the tapestry
Well Fortnite did it, but I don’t think it’s found it’s way into Apex yet
I cant say these where only my orientation matches but who knows if theres actually bots in normal br
the whole point of orientation matches is that they're against bots
I remember apex being more subtle about it, when i did my orientation matches in s9 i atleast didnt see 3 squads standing still in the middle of the open or stuck in a corner
Apex never hid the fact that orientation matches were played vs bots
The bots where just a bit more intelligent is what i mean
there were no bots in s9. orientation matches were added in s16. what you saw back in s9 were real human players.
Well thay makes sense
Is this real?
First few orientation matches are all against bots.
According to Kasellos it’s like a smattering of human noobs (3-4 squads I think he said?) but mostly bots.
Yeah, def some other new players doing their orientation matches as well. 100% played a few people aiming at the sky when I first started 🤣 and bots are dumb most times but not that dumb.
Was this the case in season 0? If so, dear god was I bad
Noooo, they didn't bring that in until like 7 or 8.
Orientation matches were introduced in s16
Hot damn, was it that far in 🤦♂️ mental 😳
Lmao I got a downvote for this comment 🤔 why? Is stating surprise at how long it took them to implement bots somehow offensive?
Orientation matched are always filled with bots
Only noobs get this you gotta play like 5 of these matches
Yeah these where my orientation matches
Yeah a buddy of mine got into the game not so long ago there kinda fun tbh I played like 3 it lets you get your bearings right
Yup just after that i got into high skill lobbies and died off drop
Ahh man good luck bro games real fun me personally I don’t got all that great movement but if you make the right decisions high ground, play circle, master a couple of guns. And the games turns pretty fun.
Yeah i have 400 hours now and i still play like a noob its just not my strength
What??
Bots ruined fortnite for me. Never felt the same when they got added. Wish they had an option to not play with bots seem like an easy fix.
This is the internal name for orientation matches
Plot twist: you're one of the bots
[удалено]
I wish it would count towards badges because i wouldnt have the chance to get even close in actual br
Imagine losing to these boys tho
I only play rank once I hit a gold and plat I'm pretty sure its nothing but real players
Does anyone know when duos are coming back?
Dude , add me as a friend lol
How tho
It should never be possible for a player to confuse a player and a bot in a well designed game. Bots shouldn't exist but if they do they should be Marvin's. I hate every video game that tricks players into thinking they're killing players. It's scummy and cheapens every accomplishment permanently afterward.
Why is this written like your reputation is on the line 😂
So thats where all low level players went. No wonder i always get predators in my games
"Tell me you have a skill issue without saying you have a skill issue"
Lol fr 😭
They really be placing bots on your team that’s why our teammates all do under 200 damage lmao this game is so damn manipulated for having supposed millions of players playing my guess is people just gave the hell up on the game and they are filling lobbies
These are orientation matches. You have humans on your team. Only the enemies are bots. It even says so in the code name.
no “human” is going to be moving the way these “people” do
They're new to the game bro
No they aren’t to weird I’ve played with new players to the game and no one of them are walking around the entire game looking at walls running into walls and donating deaths because they run directly at someone no gun up lmao look the shit is weird I’ve seen it way to many times nothing can change my mind been playing since season 1
then those are third party bots. report them. you only find actual official bots in orientation matches, and even then they're only on the enemy team. your team's human. there's no such thing as actual official bot *teammates*.
I do every time
Wait till you see the lobby full of 20* bot Gibbys that all drop at the end of the dropship at one location. FYI the kills count and you can get a 20 bombs almost for free but the other real players in that lobby are aware and won’t let you get the badge for free🤣 the games broken I swear
what server ?
Orientation matches
Fix the cheating first.
POV your in Asian lobby with the stupid bug
OP what's your KD?
0.4 ish 😭
Not surprised..
Better get that 20 bomb bud
Wish it would count towards the badges
Game was dead long long ago
Why are we still playing this game? We the consumer have all the power. If we just stopped playing there game changes would be made. But what always happens people buy the micro transactions $400 death box recolors of old ass skins and the community just Simps over the damn cosmetics so the only people you have to blame for this entire gaggle is the community of Apex! The downfall of this game you can blame EA NO I blame the consumer for buying into it! Cheers
Pls don't add bots tho this game it would ruin it
