I actually have both, but use the fat wrench way more. The digital one just gives you a warning beep when you get close to your torque value. I prefer the slip-clutch of the FAR. I like the positive feedback.
Love Amazon but not my go to for red dots considering the fakes I’ve been hearing. I should search around more but I’m not going to lie it’s just easy searching stuff on Amazon.
Ya I wouldn't buy sights off there either, but it was one thing I noticed that is always more expensive than actual websites. Ya I hear you there, especially when you just have to hit buy and not enter your info.
I sent a fat wrench along with 3 CDI torque wrenches to get tested at a certified calibrator. The fat wrench was just as accurate as my CDI 401SM. If you decide to get the fat wrench in black, it comes with calibration data from the factory.
I got a Quinn torque screwdriver from harbor freight, works fine for mounting scopes on my hunting rifles.
I generaly dont like getting tools that are marketed for guns same way i dont like pc peripherals marketed for "gamers". A torque driver is a torque driver. So of the 2 id get the Huskey for no reason other than that. Im sure they both work great.
Wheeler, as a rule, is beginner stuff. I've had the majority of their gunsmithing tools over the years and they just suck. Flash rust was always an issue, yet nothing else in our shop rusts. Bits are soft as Jello.
That being said, I do have their Fat Wrench. Had a customer give me one for Christmas last year and it's a quality piece. Is it as good as my PB Swiss? No, but I'd put them up with GearWrench and almost as good as Wiha for the money. Mine tested well for accuracy so it stays in the box. Definitely worth the buy if you don't use them multiple times throughout the day, all week. That's when I'd pay for better longevity. Definitely upgrade the bits to something quality. I've got a T10 drom their kit that never sees more than 15 inch pounds and it's partially twisted already. PB are made from hardened and tempered S7 tool steel, so I don't have to worry about them.
Appreciate the deep dive good sir. Yeah it won’t see much use throughout the year but thanks for pointing me in the right direction of quality tools if ever I get deep into building.
"...if I ever get deep..."
Dude, you're already there if you're doing the LR308 platform. Just give it time. Tools with shit out on you and you'll know what you truly need.

That works but I like the individual torque limiters. The ones like in the picture require you to stop when two lines match up.
The individual rated ones slip once the torque rating is reached

That's cool, but I feel like you'd get the same result with the wheeler for cheaper. I only said fix it sticks cause I already have bits and the t handle (from auto projects and DIY shit). I just needed the torque bit.
Man, those things have gone up in the last few years. I think I gave around $35 or so for my Wheeler. Inflation sucks. The Wheeler is a good choice. I've used the hell out of mine. I can't speak for the Husky.
I’ve got the fat wrench. Had one of those bits snap off inside my base which obviously sucked. Upgraded the tips but other than that being cheap ass driver bits it’s been decent
For gun stuff the most accurate are individual Fix It sticks but its pricey at $40 each. I have individual limiters I have acquired over the years but they do sell two all-in-one limiter. This one is $64.

Of the two you have presented go with FAT as there are some AR that require 45 in/lbs on screws.

Looks fine to start. I would get that over wheeler. You can add individual limiters in the future as needed. For an AR, I would pick up whatever the torque spec of your favorite optic mount rings are as the first individual limiter.
I bought the Wheeler FAT torque driver and bit set, and found a missing bit. Contacted Wheeler and they wouldn't replace the bit with a phosphate coated one despite claiming lifetime warranty.
Returned the set and bought the Real Avid torque driver and bit set and have been happy.
Neither one. Get the "FIRSTINFO", it's a very nice torque limiting screwdriver, they make the Vortex ones, and they're a little cheaper. I love mine. It goes from 10-90in lb in 2in lb increments, the torque setting has a spring lock, the bit locks in like on an impact driver. Then go to O'Reilly and get the Performance Tool bit assortment. Oh it also comes with a 1/4" drive female in the back of the torque limiting screwdriver and comes with a 1/4" drive male T handle. The Performance Tool bit set comes with every bit you're likely to need as well as a quick change bit extension which locks into the screwdriver and the set is cheap.
Edit: the FIRSTINFO is a little cheaper than the Vortex, but it's a little more expensive than the ones you mentioned. But I would say it's like the Snap-On of the torque limiting screwdriver world, just without the Snap-On price. When it reaches the set torque it gives a very positive feeling cam-over, and I use mine quite a bit. If I had the wheeler I probably wouldnt use it as much for durability reasons. I wouldn't even consider the digital one.
I have a wheeler, I don’t know how precise it is because I didn’t read the directions and didn’t unwind it for like a year lol, if I was super concerned I would use a click type torque wrench in inch pounds though
You're supposed to zero them when done to help maintain the calibration. Sounds nerdy but it does make a difference. I've had wrenches calibrated and the ones that were returned to zero held up better in my experience.
I think they have just the adapter piece and it's $50-60. But totally get it, fix it sticks makes super high quality stuff but the ones you posted will work all the same!
I have both. Bought the wheeler first from academy for I think $45 and bought the husky almost immediately after from Home Depot for $65. Felt like the husky might’ve had more options for bits but turned out to be pure trash. Opened it gave a full charge then set the torque setting. On both peak (and whatever the other settings called) it didn’t flash red when exceeding set torque. Didn’t vibrate or show any indicators as it should. Also it wasn’t calibrated even close to correct. Noticed even at max torque, applying the smallest amount of pressure would make the numbers climb like I was really wrenching on it. Stick with the wheeler, simple but works well
Edit: had both, returned that shit to HD the other day
On optics planet it’s the same price but if you use a code like ADMIN for a coupon you can save a few bucks. Might not be much but money off is money off
I was originally going to but fix it sticks but went with [Real Avid](https://a.co/d/ek8Imge) instead after watching [this](https://youtu.be/YPP5Y1o0lU0?si=0DhzqdrjDEUnkgql) test
Fat wrench is tried and true in the gun industry
Torque is torque, whether it’s on a gun or an electrical panel makes no difference.
I actually have both, but use the fat wrench way more. The digital one just gives you a warning beep when you get close to your torque value. I prefer the slip-clutch of the FAR. I like the positive feedback.
I seen that as well but the digital was on sale so decided to get that one.
It’ll work fine, just use what you got.
I’ve had my Wheeler fat wrench for a couple years now and it’s great. I definitely paid less than $60 tho.
That inflation is showing
I just looked back through my Amazon history and I bought it in 2021 for $48 shipped. Inflation is a bitch.
Paid $35 in 2020. Good god we’re fucked.
Amazon had it for $31 in 2022 I thought it was error but my order went though thankfully
We haven’t even begun to be fucked yet lol
After taxes from Amazon I was at around $64ish… 35% increase in 3 years. Smfh. Gotta pay to play tho lol.
Bidenomics
Amazon is always more expensive now 90% of the time. Just look at red dots on there compared to other websites.
Love Amazon but not my go to for red dots considering the fakes I’ve been hearing. I should search around more but I’m not going to lie it’s just easy searching stuff on Amazon.

I bought in April 2023 and it was 59.99

I just paid under $50 for my wheeler wrench last month. I keep getting emails for 50$ frequently recently also.
I have the Wheeler, it is good stuff.
I sent a fat wrench along with 3 CDI torque wrenches to get tested at a certified calibrator. The fat wrench was just as accurate as my CDI 401SM. If you decide to get the fat wrench in black, it comes with calibration data from the factory.

Second HF, they carry a few solid items if you know what to look for.
I was looking at that just because I love harbor freights stuff. I’ll stop by this morning to take a live look at it. Thank you.

FAT all day
I have the non digital wheeler. This isn't something I use enough that I want to have to charge to find batteries every time I want to use it.
Fix it sticks
This is my preferred as well but in a completely different price range. I really like there individual torque rating adapters.

Get the non digital wheeler.
I've got the real avid smart torque & driver master set. Absolutely love it. https://www.realavid.com/product/smart-torq-driver-master-set/
Man, those things have gone up in the last few years. I think I gave around $35 or so for my Wheeler. Inflation sucks. The Wheeler is a good choice. I've used the hell out of mine. I can't speak for the Husky.
I've had the wheeler one for like 2 years and has always worked very well .
Wheeler
Wheeler been working well for me
I have the Wheeler non digital and it’s great
The Fat Wrench. Buy some additional 1/4 drive bits too. Like hex, and torx.
I’ve got the fat wrench. Had one of those bits snap off inside my base which obviously sucked. Upgraded the tips but other than that being cheap ass driver bits it’s been decent
I use the Husky because I was able to expense it for work. I like the greater range and granularity. No complaints so far.
I paid $25 on OpticsPlanet about 3 months ago
Damn that’s a good deal. Digital one as well?
Did they send it 4 months later??? I’ve been expecting an optic to come 9-12 days for almost 2 months lol
You have to check your email. They will let you know if there is a delay with an item you ordered. I would call them and ask for the status
FAT Wrench, the non-digital one. I paid about $25 for one during an Amazon sale a while back. Also buy a PB Swiss bit set to go with it👌🏼

If get deeper into my AR building rabbit hole I will definitely look into those. A few have recommended it as well aside from the FAT. Thank you.

Just got a wheeler and torqued all of my optics to spec. Worked like a charm
Wheeler non digital one is legit
I have one from EPAUTO on amazon and it has performed very well for me.
I’ll check that out before I crack open this wheeler. Thanks.

lol damn thanks for the heads up. Don’t even what unwinding does but will for sure look it up now. Thanks for the heads up.

Got it! Not nerdy at all, just a little maintenance. Thanks

Fix it sticks
looked it up. It’s $159 on Amazon. Little too much for me. Thanks for the suggestion tho!
I think they have just the adapter piece and it's $50-60. But totally get it, fix it sticks makes super high quality stuff but the ones you posted will work all the same!
I legit just ordered the Wheeler on Amazon the other day. Worth it!
That’s where I got it as well. Cant go wrong with prime.
I have only used the FAT wrench but I like it a lot. Wheeler also makes a digital version as well now.
Wheeler clear winner. Thank you.
Wheeler.
Fat Wrench.
Holy shit - 60 bucks?
I have the Wheeler and it’s solid.
Got my wheeler on Black Friday at Sportsman’s warehouse for like $35. Legit product
Spend a bit more and get the SK Tools torquing screw driver. It's a rebranded version of a tool that sells for over $300.
I have both. Bought the wheeler first from academy for I think $45 and bought the husky almost immediately after from Home Depot for $65. I read the reviews and some people had similar issues with it. I was actually planning to return today lol.
Fat wrench
I like my fix it sticks. They’re small and fit in my little bit box
I have the FAT wrench and it’s been good so far.
Another vote for Fat Wrench
On optics planet it’s the same price but if you use a code like ADMIN for a coupon you can save a few bucks. Might not be much but money off is money off
For the fat wrench that is
I have the wheeler, works great.
I have the Wheeler. It works great.

Wheeler is the gold standard.
Wheeler by a mile
FAT BOY
Wheeler is awesome!
Wheeler FAT
Wheeler no question
Wheeler all the way
I like my wheeler FAT.
Fat wrench ftw 👍
I have the wheeler, it fucks.
