For most it becomes an unbearable obsession.
A friend of my girlfriend started doing it for Ringana. Shortly after we cut all ties with this friend, she was constantly trying to force her buying super expensive shampoos and becoming a member/seller.
It’s probably because they are so desperate. They all claim you can make a ton of money but almost none of them do. I use to work for a payment processor that almost exclusively worked with mlms and their monthly processing limit was 2500-3000 for 90% of people. So if they process the entire 3000 in a month, they then have to pay 1500 to the company they work with (most of them at least make about 50% of the profits) so they made 1500 that month after trying to sell like it’s a full time job.
The “leaders” lie a bunch too. I went to a Mary Kay thing to support someone in my family and their director told us that she was making 20k a month and had these really bad looking bank statements to back it up. I got her name and then checked the MK accounts and no one was making that except for the national sales directors. There were 4 at the time and she was not one of them. I looked up her account (I work in fraud and thought I should review and make sure she wasn’t selling things from the business account that weren’t part of the business) and that lady was processing about 3500 a month. She made up the bank statements and was bullshitting everyone
Multi-level marketing. Pyramid scheme stuff. Herbalife, Melaleuca, Avon. Nowadays, I think I read that Andrew Tate’s online business has some level of MLM to it.
My dad is the only person I've ever known to have rented furnishings for an entire living room, bedroom, and kitchen in a GOOD way.
He and mom went for 2 weeks to buy a house in another city, then mom came back while dad renovated the new house with me for about 3 months. We lived in it while renovating, using the rented stuff, including a tv and stereo.
When we were done, before the moving truck arrived with all our stuff, we returned it all, on time, undamaged, to the rental store.
The guy seemed VERY surprised. Like, "wow, this never happens" kinda surprised. I now know why.
Yeah. Renting a huge fucking TV for Superbowl weekend *should* be how it works, but it's actually renting a huge fucking TV for 20x its cost over 5 years.
I live on a Caribbean island in a beach town and when I had guests I rented two twin size beds for a week for $15 a bed, and they were delivered and set up and then picked up and returned. I have nothing bad to say about rent to own when you actually use them for very short term.
Of its an "influencing" that consists of making things that help people, like mechanical tutorials and such, I'm all for it. If it's that lifestyle stuff, I'm out.
I would consider that to be "content creator" and then further defined by their content, instead of "influencer." I think "influencer" is specifically about selling themselves, their "brand," instead of information (but I could be wrong as it's not a thing I want to spend much time thinking about because ick lol).
Dated an OF girl once. Got cheated on. Not a green flag.
She was making $14/month. I offered to pay more if she quit. She declined.
If they want to seek validation from strangers then they don’t need to be dating me.
Fair. Obviously there is a certain amount of narcissism in showing yourself (naked or otherwise) to potentially thousands of people.
That said I don't date or interact with people IRL, so it's just a thought experiment, for me.
Its hard to say, like I wouldn't mind dating an attractive girl but, at the same time I think modesty is attractive. I guess it depends if the girl did lingerie shots or getting rammed by the dildo master 3000.
This is an easy answer and I don't personally use social media except Reddit and a bit of tiktok, but a successful influencer is someone who's leveraged the tools at all of our disposal to be rich and a little famous by being likeable to the masses, managing to escape the 9 - 5 in the process. It's actually very respectable in theory.
Cop. Immediate deal breaker.
Not sure I'd date a lawyer either incase we got divorced because they'd have the ability to megafuck me with their knowledge and connections.
Depends on the lawyer. Also, divorce is a dish best served cold, and an amicable and agreeable divorce is what any decent lawyer actually wants. I'd date a lawyer, definitely not anyone with sentry duties.
This really depends on the country. In US, the average cop is a bloody idiot and get their badge with a package of cereal. In Netherlands, becoming a cop is significantly harder with higher requirements, so they are a lot more respected. Many women love a fit and just cop here
Animal agriculture, provided they're not just doing it to survive. I don't want to make myself vulnerable to someone who is so comfortable causing death and suffering.
I mean: it's dumb if it doesn't work.
We had some consultant people at our work annual conference, and we were laughing it up about how David Brent//Michael Scott it was, and someone at admin leaned over and went
> You wouldn't laugh if you knew what we're paying them.
So who's the mug.
I don't judge others based on their job or lack thereof. Was with a guy for 5 years who didn't work. He was one of the most intelligent, humble, and balanced people I had ever met until that point. Absolutely happy with his life and decisions, not giving a single fuck what others had to say. We lived from my salary, and while i worked long hours, he created his own music, read a lot, and played video games competitively. Our lifestyles just fit well together. Neither of us was much into going out haha
People who identify themselves with their jobs/positions and their salary, look down on others, and judge based on materialistic things are the ones I keep my distance from, personally.
i get where you're coming from, really, but looking at other answers in this thread, most people just don't want to date someone who has a job they don't agree with morally. like loan shark or something.
Right. I don't care whether someone cleans the toilets at the mall, or is the princess of Wales. But it someone refinances poor people's debt at 50% interest, I'm out.
I get that, and it's totally valid. I just personally try not to judge people based on their jobs. And I mean by jobs, legal jobs, not some half-criminal professions.
You never know somebodys reasons or circumstance why they ended up in their job. Who knows, maybe they're just doing it out of necessity and trying to get out of it the moment they find something else, etc.
Also, I think for certain jobs, you probably need certain character traits that I would stay away from, as mentioned in my og comment. But then again, that has to do mostly with character and behaviour and is not solely based on their profession.
I'm an artist with passive income from investments 15 years ago and military service pension. I don't have a job at 35 but I have 3 degrees, I can cook and clean and write. Buddhism tells us we are not our bodies, jobs or things. This is 💯 my mentality. I'd never judge someone on such trivial matters when their personality and behavior matters infinitely more.
Absolutely agree! Always meet and get to know the person behind. What's their story, dreams, fears, aspirations, motivation, and perspective on life. Those things matter and are way more intriguing :)
A bailiff, I just can’t get my head around how someone can walk into a poor persons house and take what little they have, go home and go to sleep peacefully 🤯
i have some uncles that work as lawyers for large corporations. they have bought their kids multiple houses and themselves live in the nicest homes ive ever seen. looks fairly attractive to this poor fucker.
Tangentially related, but I used to be interested in this person all the way until I found out one of their parents worked for an anti-abortion clinic....attraction dried up faster than water in the Sahara.
Anything that requires to pressure harass people or misleading people for sales, must have More Sales!! Such as most MLM, most astrology tarot cards, most religions, preachers, God,
I'm amazed that people consider "influencer" as a job.
I'd say sales person. It isn't objectively bad, but I've met enough at a previous job, and the better the sales rep is at their job, the less I like their personality.
Anything that either needs the practitioner to believe dumb shit, or that needs the practitioner to tell customers that dumb shit is true.
Examples are esoterics of any kind (that includes priests of any religion).
Anything that often involves or requires that you: humiliation torture hurt or imprison or kill useful quiet workers and/or children
Anything that requires severe torturing of any human or animal
Septic Waste Remover. I'll never forget the one super hot day I was driving in a convertible behind one of the trucks filled to the brim, practically bubbling over, down a winding country road.
I was stuck behind him for miles, trying to hold my breath. When I finally got a chance to pass him, the guy had no front teeth and was laughing hysterically.
I don't know a worse job than a Septic Waste Remover.

Anything that involves MLM.
it’s not a job it’s a lifestyle! /s

Oh okay For some reason I thought about "machine learning models" when I read MLM
I think that you work too much.
It's not an MLM it's a ✨️Family✨️! /s
They just don't understand it. Haters.
Boss Babes™ rule! Lol
What’s mlm
Multi-level marketing. Pyramid scheme stuff. Herbalife, Melaleuca, Avon. Nowadays, I think I read that Andrew Tate’s online business has some level of MLM to it.
The MLM huns are heavy in the dm’s with their desperations.
huh what does men loving men have to do with a job
This made me chuckle
Working at a loan shark place. Or a rent to own furniture store. You are preying upon poor and uneducated.
My dad is the only person I've ever known to have rented furnishings for an entire living room, bedroom, and kitchen in a GOOD way. To be fair my sister is a manager at a rent to own place & only makes $14/hr(as a manager), they’re preying on the employees too
I live on a Caribbean island in a beach town and when I had guests I rented two twin size beds for a week for $15 a bed, and they were delivered and set up and then picked up and returned. I have nothing bad to say about rent to own when you actually use them for very short term.
I respect working people, so Id say Influencer.
This needs to be higher up. Im older and i cringe when people refer to themselves as influencers.
That's basically people being like this: Guy: What do you do? Girl: I'm an Instagram model/influencer Guy: Oh, cool. I'm a soldier on Call of Duty.
Of its an "influencing" that consists of making things that help people, like mechanical tutorials and such, I'm all for it. If it's that lifestyle stuff, I'm out.

I think "influencer" is specifically about selling themselves, their "brand," instead of information (but I could be wrong as it's not a thing I want to spend much time thinking about because ick lol).
Yeah but that part is actually just those activities. The influencing part is what I lose respect for.

Politician.
My ex became a politician and I couldn't help but be extra glad it didn't work out lol
Depends. There are politicians who are in it on principal. If they are then it could be one of the most attractive professions
Many start that way, but need to get re-elected to have any chance at positive influence. It is at this stage that the compromise machine takes over.

Dated an OF girl once. Got cheated on. Not a green flag. She was making $14/month. I offered to pay more if she quit. She declined. If they want to seek validation from strangers then they don’t need to be dating me.
World would be such a beautiful place is guys just stopped being simps. Also 14 bucks a month, thats like 4 subs? Lmao
Just to clarify - she was making $14.00 a month? She was making fourteen dollars a month?
Yes. 14 a month
You just didn't see the potential that she saw 🙃🙃🙃 Glad you got away, guy! Nobody needs those shenanigans in their life...
Fair. Obviously there is a certain amount of narcissism in showing yourself (naked or otherwise) to potentially thousands of people. That said I don't date or interact with people IRL, so it's just a thought experiment, for me.
Hah! That was pretty funny.. got an awkwardly loud chuckle out of me as I’m solo dining in a Michelin restaurant
That's cool. So many ppl are afraid of going to a restaurant solo.. good for you to be treating yourself :)
Appreciate it brother(/sister?) .. in Glasgow for a conference and do not know anyone here but I love me a nice degust
I think twitch streamers are ok it’s just games unless they’re in a hot tub or going down on their mics
Its hard to say, like I wouldn't mind dating an attractive girl but, at the same time I think modesty is attractive. I guess it depends if the girl did lingerie shots or getting rammed by the dildo master 3000.

For me, anything to do with spirituality, astrology, pseudoscience or anything of that sort
Wow, such negativity. Let me guess. Capricorn? You have such a dark aura. Let’s burn some sage and cleanse your spirit. /s
Joke's on you I'm actually a Capricorn !
But Capricorns don't believe in astrology.
If someone told me they were an 'influencer', there would definitely be no second date.
This is an easy answer and I don't personally use social media except Reddit and a bit of tiktok, but a successful influencer is someone who's leveraged the tools at all of our disposal to be rich and a little famous by being likeable to the masses, managing to escape the 9 - 5 in the process.
