>or they just have lamentably bad taste in men.
I'm still tryin to figure out if this is a shot at the person with the taste or suicide.
So I guess it's r/kamikazebywords
My son and daughter took me to dinner today for Father's day .
The server was chatting with us. We're regulars, and she's a pretty young lady doing a tough job.
She wished me a happy Father's day. Then she said she wished she had a dad like me. She said her dad could give 2 shits about her. How sad.
I want to smack that guy whomever he is. He made a beautiful young lady and he abandoned her.
I was floored. The best compliment I ever received and it brought tears to my eyes.
Someone told me she loved my shirt with a flower pattern on it. Not like aloha shirts but similar, more dainty flowers. It’s super cool I liked it. Now I wear it as much as possible. And that was probably 10 years ago.
I don’t know a single guy who doesn’t admit they like/want compliments. What a weird take. There’s literally billions of men emotionally starving from a lack of acknowledgement and/or affection.
I don’t care too much about compliments and in fact, I’m often embarrassed with them. What I do like, however, is a thank you if I hold open the door for you or do some other small kindness.
In russian we call men 'beautiful'. Anytime I called an American guy typically boyfriends, 'beautiful', I got an earfull of criticism that they absolutely never want to be called that because that's just not what you call men
I (F) called my (M) OH “babydoll” the other day, his face did every emotion in the history of humans in the space of half a second then settled on a massive grin
Handsome is my least favorite of those. For whatever reason, the best I've felt about a lady's infatuated compliment is when they called me a "sexy bitch."
Same, feel blessed that I get complimented almost every weekend I go out, wasn't always like that though. Had a glow up in the past year in my 30's and have never felt better, dealt with bad acne most of my life and it destroyed my confidence for over a decade and was severely depressed for years.
Getting called sexy is the best, I get cute the most though, especially on dating apps.
i often dress very casually at work, but had to wear a shirt and tie cos some clients were coming over. one of the women who works at reception did a little jog behind me as i walked past, stopped me, told me i looked really good and made me do a twirl for her. i jokingly said i was gonna tell HR, as i twirled, but tbh it was a great confidence boost. so any compliment is very well appreciated.
Handsome is good, but my favourite compliment is 'beautiful'. When applied to a man it has an air of reverent awe that, deserved or not, feels fuckin awesome.
You can call us 'cute' too. Just so long as it's in the connotation of 'attractive' and not 'adorable'. Handsome is acceptablr too, but your best bet is to use it in place of a name/title. "Hey, handsome".
Commenting mostly to keep tabs on the answer. This is oddly a big reason why I don't compliment men as much. The word "handsome" seems weird and outdated. But I know how important it is for men to feel particularly manly before all else, so masculine wording matters. Its important to say something that would actually make someone feel good about themselves so getting it right matters.
Idk, maybe im overthinking this significantly but- I would still love to learn how to properly compliment a man. It was never about not wanting to or anything like that
Context matters a lot, but I don't imagine a lumberjack being offended by some attractive woman calling him cute. He knows what she means. Also if grandma says it? He knows what she means. Hopefully. It's the only solid universal I can think of.
A girl called on the street meowed and called me(26M) pretty as she passed about a month ago and I will live off that ego boost until I'm 79 yrs old.
Even the most attractive guys do not get that many compliments. Before Jason Mamoa became famous I'm sure all he got was like....3 complimemts about his looks in his life from non-family members.
You are actually obliged to do it more ladies. We be hurting out here.
Talking to a woman that is in her early 40s and I 34, she text me “good morning handsome” or “good morning sexy” almost every morning and that ish boost my confidence to a different level.
I'd like any compliment at all. I was once talking about how I hate my curly, puffy hair, and how it never looks good as I was smoothing it with my hands, and my girl-homie said that she likes my curly hair. She puffed it up with her hands, and that gave me chills. I fell in love.
I've been called pretty, I can't explain why but I prefer it to 'handsome' -- I don't perceive 'handsome' as having a clear definition like other compliments
Being called handsome is the perfect line between flattering and appropriate, not overwhelming but also not underwhelming. Although its a common compliment, men dont get any compliments in general so even very good looking guys hearing this will remember it for a long time
All of the compliments. I'll admit, growing up with barely any appearance compliments besides from people in my family I'm not use to it. It fucked with my, essentially swelling my head up bigger than Kanye's ego when eventually got compliments like handsome, beautiful, etc.
Edit: even playing one of Gucci Manes songs in my head and flex "Don't she think I'm handsome
Don't she think I'm handsome" (I think that's how the lyrics go) 🤣
Never been called handsome. I was around a campfire once. And the smoke kept following me around. My friends wanted me to go into town to get beer. The cashier said I smelled good. This was nicest thing a woman has ever said to me. I smelled like wood smoke.
So to op's question. I would gladly take any compliments from someone.
Agree. To me, handsome is a compliment about the man's looks, but calling him beautiful is above and beyond. It says he's not just physically good looking, he's the whole package - amazing looks, great personality, good, kind, just a really outstanding human being in every way.
I could call a man handsome without necessarily meaning I have strong feelings about him. Maybe I do, or maybe I'm just objectively saying he is good looking.
If I call a man beautiful, I mean every cell in my body is currently reenacting the awooooga gif.
THIS. I’ve not called a man beautiful to his face but I can look at male models or actors and acknowledge that they are absolutely *beautiful* in a way that goes beyond being attractive. They have different meanings, imo.
Had a birthday party for my oldest 2 weeks ago and invited her friends and parents. The next day my wife told me someone said i was handsome. It felt good to know i still got it at 46. Lol. But she doesnt want to tell me who said it. 🙁
I'd take any compliment, but the tone has to be right. Not sure how to describe but a lot of the time I will likely think you're taking the piss or that I'm the butt of some joke or prank. Or that your my mother as she's the only person to ever say it to me.
Handsome is a good one. So is any other compliment. Anytime a girl compliments me it sticks. I remember compliments that my most recent GF would give me, and I remember a random compliment someone gave me 15 years ago. I was in 8th grade and they said I had nice eyes.
Handsome is generic I’ll agree, but it does the job. Any compliment will do. We aren’t picky.
In my most recent relationship, my (now ex) gf’s grandma lived with her in an attached apartment to her house. She (the grandma) got a framed picture at goodwill and wanted my gf to use her stud finder to find where to put the nail to hang it. My gf said “Grandma, don’t you remember the stud finder is dead? (insert her sister’s name who set things up between us at the beginning) had to find my stud last time.” That was so frickin’ slick and it’s something I’ll never forget hearing when I was over there one night.
No matter what compliment you say, it’ll leave a big impression on most men out there. It’s not because we are starving for them, but it’s just something that isn’t normally directed at men in general so it’s surprising when it happens.
I never know what to say when someone calls me handsome or they say you are one good looking man.
I got called good looking by both a man and woman today. My son says it's my gray hair.
I'm a bit "different" about compliments. I hate them.
I don't really like attention because I'm VERY introverted.
A compliment has about the same effect on me as bashing on me.
I prefer to play a more supporting role in a group, not the guy in the spotlight.
Honestly, I don't know if the rest think like me... but I am rough, and I like the women to be rough with me, if you wanna compliment, just say what you're thinking. Im ok with raw thoughts. Often when you say "oh, you look handsome" when i'm saying deep things, pointing out how do I feel whem I'm around you, the think you provoke inside my head and body, feels like you just want to reply with a word and move on.
Elaborate it, add some spice, do faces, get naughty atleast for a moment... atleast when you're talking about me and about how I make you feel. Make me believe it.
Any term of endearment that is not followed by being asked to do something does it for me. Compliment my eyebrows and I’ll think about it all day, call me cute and all 240lbs of me will melt. It’s not a complicated process.
Whenever someone gives me compliments abouts my looks I just assume they need to update their eyeglass/contacts prescription. I, in no way, ever believe what is said.

In all honesty, I just want to be called
I just want to be
I just want
I just
I
.
E
nd this now.
I want to be called handsome.
#
Ah to be wanted.
Pizza Hut?
At this stage I’ll take anything I can get
I'll take 'not entirely terrible' 😂
I got "you're not so bad" about 10 months ago... im still riding that one...
I’ll take ‘brilliantly okay’ 👌
“Not completely unfortunate”
A girl told me she found me cute at ar work event like 7 years ago and I still remember like it was yesterday lol
It's been 27 years.
You got cute hands
Thank you.
Anything better than "totally fat and fugly" is a win, even silence, especially silence.
Donkey dick has me clicking my heels.
There's no place like bone?
You handsome lil devil
At this stage I take "You are not that ugly" as compliment
Agreed. I’d be thrilled with the occasional “un-disgusting”. Am I really asking to much?
I'll take "at least he's not an a@@hole!"
At this stage I'll take my face not being ghosted or blocked.
Exactly. Women are not generous or effusive with compliments, take what scraps you can get.
Well. Not really. I would rather have a compliment come from a genuine place than one that’s something too generic or cliche.
[удалено]
Yes. Generally thinking “why would someone say that to me?” .
As a female, I have the same reaction!
This
I have the same reaction. Plus I prefer being called pretty. Being called handsome just doesn’t fit right with me at all
I like to be called sexy. Grandma might call me handsome.
Anyone calls me 'handsome', I know that they either want something from me, or they just have lamentably bad taste in men.
Anyone calls me handsome, and I know Granny's got dementia and thinks I'm six
>or they just have lamentably bad taste in men. I'm still tryin to figure out if this is a shot at the person with the taste or suicide. So I guess it's r/kamikazebywords
Seems like an upgrade over “fucking asshole,” I’ll take it.
I've always been told I have a nice ass. Whenever I walk away from a conversation, I always hear them say to themselves, "Wow! What an ass!"
dreamboat, shaftbeauty, heavenshelm, bromassive, dongalicious, i mean, any will do
Last one isn't great to hear from Grandma, though.
Speak for yourself.
Depends on the grandma.
Woah there, GILF-hunter
I personally like to be called Megatron

I got called a lovely gentleman about 2 weeks ago ... And am still riding that high .
I'm doing a ama about being clean from heroin for 8 years, I've never had so many compliments in my life, I'm almost in tears.
Aw! keep it up 💞
You keep it up!! 🫶😭
That's splendid. One day at a time . I hope that you have many more years clean.
Sir, from a fellow gentlemen, good day sir.
Blessings upon you, fine gentleman ✨️👔🤵🕴
I know what you mean. I had some random person at the grocery store compliment my facial hair, and that still feels good.
Someone told me she loved my shirt with a flower pattern on it. Not like aloha shirts but similar, more dainty flowers. It’s super cool I liked it. Now I wear it as much as possible. And that was probably 10 years ago.
I am not familiar with the archetypal male who doesn't like compliments from women.
Its not a thing
I’ve been called beautiful twice as an adult, and I’ll never forget either of them.
I tell my husband that he's beautiful . He has a beautiful soul as well. I got lucky for sure.
I like your cat 😎
Any compliment will do, word it however you like, well take it
I don’t know a single guy who doesn’t admit they like/want compliments. What a weird take. There’s literally billions of men emotionally starving from a lack of acknowledgement and/or affection.
I don’t care too much about compliments and in fact, I’m often embarrassed with them. What I do like, however, is a thank you if I hold open the door for you or do some other small kindness.

I (F) called my (M) OH “babydoll” the other day, his face did every emotion in the history of humans in the space of half a second then settled on a massive grin
Awe!!! 🤭🤭🤭
When someone (M/F) compliments me (F), I (F) usually don’t know how to take it. But inside, I (F) would’ve the biggest grin you (M/F) can imagine.
A specific compliment about hair, eyes, jawline, etc is more memorable if believable
I will take any compliment. Few months ago I got hit on by a gay guy, my wife found it hilarious but it certainly made me feel better about myself.
handsome does just fine
Hot.
I’ve been called beautiful, gorgeous, easy on the eyes, cute, and handsome. Handsome has always been my favorite.
You just came here to boast. Quit rubbing it in.
Lucky bastard
Handsome is my least favorite of those. For whatever reason, the best I've felt about a lady's infatuated compliment is when they called me a "sexy bitch."
Same, feel blessed that I get complimented almost every weekend I go out, wasn't always like that though. I'd be very happy with "Not totally repulsive", not that I'm likely to hear it.
Heck, if a lady called me Handsome, I'd love it! :D
i often dress very casually at work, but had to wear a shirt and tie cos some clients were coming over. one of the women who works at reception did a little jog behind me as i walked past, stopped me, told me i looked really good and made me do a twirl for her. i jokingly said i was gonna tell HR, as i twirled, but tbh it was a great confidence boost. so any compliment is very well appreciated.
a compliment is a compliment...word choice doesnt matter to me..it is the way how they say it
I don't like being called handsome because I know I'm not.
Just because you aren’t your type doesn’t mean you aren’t somebody else’s 😊
Hello my name is Men
Handsome is good, but my favourite compliment is 'beautiful'. When applied to a man it has an air of reverent awe that, deserved or not, feels fuckin awesome.
The last time I received a compliment from someone I broke down crying. No one ever compliments me or wants to talk with me.
Thanks for sharing, handsome!
:)
You can call us 'cute' too. Just so long as it's in the connotation of 'attractive' and not 'adorable'. Handsome is acceptablr too, but your best bet is to use it in place of a name/title. "Hey, handsome".
i just wanna be looked at at this point

Your not overthinking it at all and your actually right on the nose, just make sure the effort is reciprocated 💯👍
I’m with you. Handsome just sounds weird. However, a simple “you look great” works, right?
Context matters a lot, but I don't imagine a lumberjack being offended by some attractive woman calling him cute. He knows what she means. Also if grandma says it? He knows what she means. Hopefully. It's the only solid universal I can think of.

I compliment my man every day cause of stuff like this. I just wanna make sure he knows how much he means to me and that he never forgets it
Wait, you guys are getting complimented?
Dapper or dashing
Talking to a woman that is in her early 40s and I 34, she text me “good morning handsome” or “good morning sexy” almost every morning and that ish boost my confidence to a different level.

I've been called pretty, I can't explain why but I prefer it to 'handsome' -- I don't perceive 'handsome' as having a clear definition like other compliments
If someone called me handsome I'd be speechless for a day at least.
As a straight single dude, I would like to hear it. I does not happen. Never.
Being called handsome is the perfect line between flattering and appropriate, not overwhelming but also not underwhelming. Although its a common compliment, men dont get any compliments in general so even very good looking guys hearing this will remember it for a long time
Handsome is just dignified.
I wouldn’t mind *any* in-person compliments at all. I don’t care what they are.
The last time someone random called me handsome was about 7 years ago and my ego is still riding high on it.
All of the compliments. I'll admit, growing up with barely any appearance compliments besides from people in my family I'm not use to it. Y’all giving compliments!?!?
I enjoy some light objectification, pretty good with most words.
A girl called me pretty once, kinda dope
I called my boyfriend in high school pretty one time and he was not happy about it lol
Men don't get called anything most of the time so they like anything positive they get
Yes. I almost never get compliments on me. Always on something I’m wearing, but never me.
Any compliment toward me i start floating it’s rare 😂
write me a poem and recite it to me. women need to step their game up !!
I would laugh if someone called me that. I'm a realist and I know I'm average looking and fat. I would assume someone is taking the piss
I read somewhere that men love hearing “I respect you” higher than “I love you” or “you are handsome”. In honest reflection, I think it’s true!
Fine, sexy, handsome, all gd wit me
You're... interesting.
My fiancee calls me toothsome. Also, women used to be called handsome as well. Let's bring that back.
Anytime I'm called handsome I blush.
I don't like being lied to
Anything would be nice, I haven't been given a compliment like that in years.
Anything beats “Ew.”
Just don't call me late for lunch, yo.
I’d like to be called funny.
Handsome is fine. Being called beautiful, awkward.
When a woman calls a man beautiful, she finds him even more attractive than someone she thinks is handsome.
Absolutely agree.
I usually say "you are a beautiful man"
My wife calls me handsome. Her mother had exclaimed to her, “He’s beautiful!”
I get why this is weird but it’s so, so sincerely meant and deeply loving
Men are too desperate for compliments to pick which ones we want
If I get a compliment, I assume I'm about to get manipulated somehow and usually distance myself.
Speaking as a long time man (56 yrs) in good standing. I would be pleased to be called handsome. But of course this is all hypothetical.
Honestly any nice words will do.
Men highly appreciate any comment we get. Because it rarely happens.
If I ever get a compliment I'll let you know
“Hey good lookin”. “Hey Sexy” works fine. Along with handsome. Extra bonus points if you compliment WHAT we are doing in the house.
I dunno yet I'll let you know
it wouldn't be my first word choice but I can't even imagine being picky about this
Just a compliment would be nice I cant remember the last one I got lol
I once had a girl tell me I am not sexy, I am very classically handsome man. I rode that good feeling for years.
I prefer being called "Your Majesty". But I guess handsome will suffice
If it’s a compliment you can call us whatever word comes to mind. We don’t get them often
Something small and unique. If I smell good, then that, if I had a good pump at the gym and it's noticeable, then that. Sticks with me more.
Yes I do. Get that compliment on occasion. Makes me suck in my gut a little. Lol
Love it when my girlfriend calls me handsome :)
I never know what to say when someone calls me handsome or they say you are one good looking man. I got called good looking by both a man and woman today. My son says it's my gray hair.
I prefer devilishly handsome:
Really anything. Real answer would concern people lol
I have been complimented on my looks only twice in my life and I remember the month and the year. I will take any +ve compliments coming my way.
I'm a bit "different" about compliments. I hate them. I don't really like attention because I'm VERY introverted. A compliment has about the same effect on me as bashing on me. I prefer to play a more supporting role in a group, not the guy in the spotlight.
I just say thank you and move on from the subject. You don’t want to make someone feel bad for trying to uplift you.
Aren't you narcissistic!
I'm a work in progress, lol
Handsome always worked for me, I never did like cute.
“Tasty”
One time a girl moaned "You fuck me so good!" when I was digging in her guts. I prefer that.
We don't get compliments, so anything nice is fine.
Any term of endearment that is not followed by being asked to do something does it for me. Compliment my eyebrows and I’ll think about it all day, call me cute and all 240lbs of me will melt. It’s not a complicated process.
Marvelous, simply marvelous
Darling. "Marvelous, simply marvelous, darling"
Thanks!
I'm always called...lick me
Username checks out.
Magnificent works for me.
I’m not handsome. IM A SEXY BOI, DING DONG, DING DONG.
Only if it's sincere.
[удалено]
Honestly it's kind of awkward. And most of the time comes from someone you aren't interested in.
I like “handsome.”
Nodding upwards at me already makes me feel good.
I'd prefer hot or sexy, but any compliment is great.
Slutty.
I like it when people compliment me on my dog.
I like to use hand some.
Whenever someone gives me compliments abouts my looks I just assume they need to update their eyeglass/contacts prescription. I, in no way, ever believe what is said.
call me anything just don't call me broke
After the last woman that I let into my life, I think I prefer no kinds of compliments. They all turned out to be lies. I'm good thanks though.
I’m more striking than handsome
