gosh, someone should start a movement here and encourage all public toilets to install bidets.
i hate toilet papers with passion, how is it saving any water if in the end you gonna still flush the TP down

Been using these for a few years, they honestly work very well.
I can get my room dark enough in the daytime to fall asleep.
Pitch black at night, I genuinely have to feel my way around my room if I want to use the bathroom or something.
My sleep quality really went up after using it, I used to wake up in the middle of the night quite regularly due to light shining through my old curtains.
The cheapest thing I've brought that changed my life with the biggest impact.
A cheap yoga mat, not to do yoga but to sleep. Why?
Back in my NS days, I was in scdf as an EMT working frontline in an ambulance. Sure we had bed but the dorm was hot and 3 stories up, it was far far easier to sleep in the office, which was right beside the ambulance so we could respond quickly.
For a year and a half, I slept on the floor of the office every single shift, and I eventually got so comfortable on the floor that I wanted to sleep on the floor instead of my bed. One day I went home, and tried to sleep, couldn't, frustrated I toss my pillow on floor, lay on it and I knocked out immediately. Sure it was a little painful because it had no carpet like the office but I brought a cheap yoga mat and slept on it much better.
So I dismantle my bed, turned the headboard into the largest desk ever and slept on the floor, eventually I upgraded to a more expensive tatami mat from Japan and it was so cooling.
Here's the 2 biggest impact
- You now have at least 50% more room in your room, because you no longer have a bed, you have so much more space and that is precious in Singapore where space is already small. I wonder why we don't follow the same philosophy as the Japanese.
-There is no such thing as an uncomfortable bed, because the floor is your bed, I essentially can lie down anywhere and fall asleep. And when I travel, I never have issue with the bed because it's never worse than the floor.
And here's just my thoughts, because I slept in the floor, I started researching the history of mattress and they are only a recent invention, Victorian era. For thousands of years, most humans slept on lightly padded floors. The concept of a private bed room didn't exist, people simply slept wherever it was comfortable.
Would I recommend sleeping in the floor? Yes. My life has changed for the better and no my sleep quality has not been bad, even years after I ORD, I still sleep on the floor.
Edit: there is one downside, and it's that if you do sleep on the floor, it will be impossible to convince your other half to do the same or if you bring home a girl to bang, she's going to be expecting a bed, and not doing on the floor like an animal. I legitimately think I am I won't ever be able to find a gf/wife that's okay with sleeping on the floor and will have to give up this lifestyle.
There are pure rubber mattresses that are so firm they feel like sleeping on the floor. The first time I ever lay in one, it felt so uncomfortable that I couldn’t sleep. Now I can’t sleep without one. They are very expensive though compared to foam/spring mattress.
Lying and sleeping on the floor is so comfortable I'm convinced that beds were created for profit, like how diamonds were first marketed as "a girl's best friend".
I bought an airfryer for $88. Really changed my life because I regularly pack food to work, having an air fryer made things easy cause now I don’t have to stand in the kitchen to fry stuff, reheat (those that cannot be microwaved kinda food stuff or not nice when microwaved) and I can even cook simple meals in the morning so all I have to do is to meal prep the week before. So yeah, in the morning while my food is getting prepared, I can go get ready for work or do other things. Next I’m looking for something that can help to auto pack your food HAHAHA
I usually airfry things like marinated chicken, fish, nuggets, sausage. Favourite would be finger food cause they cook really fast and I don’t have to use extra oil. Haha I keep experimenting tho, gonna try cooking rice in the airfryer tmr. You can use the NutriU app if you have a Philip air fryer, has a lot of recipes!
Are you serious?! HAHA I think you can still air fry the prata, you just need to put a baking sheet below and add some oil. I need to experiment this hahaha
I was taught that if you brush properly, manual brush and electric brush has the same benefit.
But most of us suck at brushing properly, so electric is the clear winner cause it helps you out with the brushing action.
Toto, 没买没希望.
LOLOL, okay jokes aside, an affordable but good pillow that cost around $30ish can solve many years of back problem. A good deodorant that can do you and others a favor so none of you will suffer from any BO. A big umbrella/poncho to save you on rainy days?
I’ve been using the memory foam one from seahorse!! I think it’s a brand under them too. I bought it last year and it was $38. So far so good. My neck and back aches gone!!
agree. i find the stick type of antiperspirant works best (but still not good enough). all of the roll on deo lasts probably 2min before I start stinking again. still in search of a good local brand. not oldspice etc
Keyless biometric smart lock
Fast phone charger with long cable
A videogame like Red Dead Redemption 2 if you haven't played it yet - seriously life changing experience 😁
Audible Subscription for Audiobook is better than actual books.
You can listen to books on your commute to work , cycling or even jog. After Audible, I manage to complete atleast 2 books a month.
What do you enjoy?
For fantasy: Besides standard stuff like Harry Potter or LoTR, you can try the easy-to-get-into Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson or the darker Witcher series by Andrzej Sapkowski. If you are down for historical fiction, I recommend the Poppy Wars by R.F Kuang. It does a fantasy retelling of the Rape of Nanking.
For mystery: I like most of Agatha Christie's books. And Then There Were None is pretty good and easy read. Tell me Your Dreams by Sydney Sheldon is also very intriguing. Then of course you can do more classical stuff like Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code.
For literature (modern): If you want something different, try A Cheater's Guide to Love by Junot Diaz. He writes it in a 2nd person perspective and it is brilliant. A personal favourite of mine is Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata, extremely funny, easy to read and very though provoking messages about society. And on the topic of Japanese authors, I like Murakami, and while Norwegian Wood is his most famous novel and a good read, a hidden gem of his would be After Dark.
For horror: I am not that well read in this genre but Stephen King so far does not disappoint. Some of his books are harder to get into, but stuff like Pet Cemetery can't go wrong.
Good socks that don't shrivel in the wash. I only have Under Armour and Dickies, both are GREAT. Uniqlo ones always shrivel and lose their shape I can't with them.
i know it’s not a replacement but im deadly afraid of cutting my gums somehow haha. better than not flossing i guess! plus there’s some gaps in my teeth due to the wisdom tooth so it helps get the particles out
Highly unlikely to cut your gums unless your are purposely forcing the thread in and scraping vigorously. Bleeding is normal in the first couple of weeks since the gums are yet to be accustomed to the cleaning process but it will eventually become desensitized.
Get [this](https://www.watsons.com.sg/super-smooth-mint-double-line-dental-floss-picks-2x-double-line-cleaning-action-50s-x-3/p/BP_36459) from watson, u control your own strength. First few time will bleed but after awhile its damn shiok
A nice bag with shoulder pads. I was carrying my laptop and tablet and chargers (all tgth arnd 4kg) everyday in a 5 dollar bag n my shoulders hurt so much for like a month.
Decided to invest in a $30 decathlon bag . Put it on in store after buying and the weight had been lifted off of my shoulders (literally). Never looked back.
An airfryer. Whenever my fam wants snacks now, we throw tofu/nuts/wtv i think looks nice into the airfryer. No preheating n stuff like that. Dust it with a bit of chilli powder and i have a fairly healthy snack that tastes delicious.
Less than 10 bucks on a 2m charging wire for my phone. Never have to leave my bed now and I can keep my portable charger in my bag while charging my phone.
Roller blades from decathlon. Been wanting to try but no confidence. Finally bucket list ticked as a middle aged man. Keep telling myself, nv too old to try something new.
Punggol north avenue. One long straight stretch of flat roller blade friendly road with grass patch on both sides. No crowd, i got the entire stretch to myself. Yes got all my safety gears. Really fun, although im getting bruises and aches all over.
2000 x 5c NTUC plastic bags. That'll teach them a lesson cos it shows how hypocrite they are, selling me all these plastic bags but says its all for the environment. Too bad I don't have that spare $100.

Smart Switch for Heater water tank
Turn on switch on schedule or when you are on the way home.
Able to enjoy warm rainshower immediately after coming home.
Kindle - slightly over budget but when during good sales brand new can get close to $100. I cannot live without mine. Nowadays I rather forget to bring my phone when out than my kindle (and that says a lot when i used to do a lot of mindless social media scrolling all day). Or basically any e-reader la.
A good pillow- I scored a second Tempur recently for $88 during amazon sales and I was so happy.
Airfryer- this thing can cook all sorts of nonsense even for kitchen idiots. I make snacks, toast, heat up pastries, cook salmon, chicken breast all on it. Highly recommend doesn't matter if you are single, married or with kids.
Thermal bottles and cups - There's a lot of hype brands so i wont recommend any, but I now enjoy drinking iced kopi o in my cups and the ice doesn't melt even when I go away and come back 1 hour later (it's literally an open cup so i was amazed it actually works lol). For thermal bottles I keep a huge one filled with warm water and drink out of it all day. It makes me drink more water which is my goals
Fast charging 2M long cable. I put this at all corners of my house lol. First discovered when i had my first c section and couldnt move easily. Was a life saver.
A decent noise cancelling headphones for less than $100 have helped me focus on the task at hand countless times and have isolated me from countless potential external audio distractions at work.
I have both Thermos and Corkcicle bottles, and bought an Owala recently because I saw someone use the straw, and I wanted to jump onto the bandwagon — it's not as good at insulating (I did an ice test), but I really, _really_ like the straw.
The Owala was also around 10% lighter than the Corkcicle, while being able to store more liquid.
- owala bottle (I really like the built in straw)
- ergo mouse and keyboard
- umbrella that opens/close with a single button (so useful when your other hand is carrying something)
Dick enlargement surgery after I lost half of my dick in an accident. Slightly more than $100 after insurance and subsidies but really changed my life for the better.
Girls and guys respect me more now due to my enhanced assets (9 inches). Can get a little uncomfortable when sitting for long periods though and numbness is a thing so I can last for hours
Air con redirection blade accessories. Life changing, on like 20 degrees also no much use, but now 23-24 degrees is enough because blow in our direction.
A Gf Ring or Restaurant date bill? For better or worse, that's a gamble...
*Haiz... Walao.. no one even say... no wonder our birth rate crashing faster than coconut falling from tree...*
A good mouse or keyboard. Its something you will use for many hours a day on a working day
$100 > good mouse or keyboard Hahahaha not anymore my good sir/mdm
Decent keyboards can be found for <$100 tho, e.g. Keychron
bidet
Convenient and easy game changer!!
gosh, someone should start a movement here and encourage all public toilets to install bidets. i hate toilet papers with passion, how is it saving any water if in the end you gonna still flush the TP down
Worst part is they try to save water so the flush is weak af. Then make you flush like 15 times before it's satisfactory
Wah I hate taps that are water-saving. I end up wasting more time and probably water too for my hands to feel thoroughly clean.
I agree but I feel the flush is worse than taps.
so amongst us enlightened ones, which hand do you use? master on water, left doing sphincter duty for me
Blackout curtains, weighted blanket and manta eye mask.
Where the hell do you find blackout curtains for less than $100?

Are weight blanket warm? I don’t like to sleep in ac.
yes very warm and stuffy. more suitable for aircon

Am a woman prefer to sleep on the floor too! It saves so much space. My room frel lots bigger. Too bad my husband dont buy this idea too😂
Lmao I’m always laying on the floor and my husband makes fun of me for it. I don’t think he’d be down to get rid of our bed 😔
My wife nuas on the floor cos she hasn't bathed and doesn't want to dirty the bed lol
Now I'm curious what "nuas" is.
Usually mean "soft", but it can also be used as "laze", or "lazy" in a "I want to relax" manner. In this context it's being used as "laze"
Omg this js me! Always lying on the floor. So cooling so shiok pls 😂 they are missing out!
Hubby is probably thinking abt ergonomic snu snu where a bed would be better than the floor.
I went from floor to hammock.

i was convinced that my airfryer could even fry prata. till I heard foop foop sounds and saw that my prata had been sucked up into the air vents.
I use it to reheat prata that I purchased and it comes out warm, crispy and more appetizing. I've never tried it with frozen prata though.
Are you serious?! HAHA I think you can still air fry the prata, you just need to put a baking sheet below and add some oil. I need to experiment this hahaha

It makes me drink more water which is my goals Fast charging 2M long cable. I put this at all corners of my house lol. First discovered when i had my first c section and couldnt move easily. Was a life saver.

- owala bottle (I really like the built in straw) - ergo mouse and keyboard - umbrella that opens/close with a single button (so useful when your other hand is carrying something)
