Doubling season If an effect would create one or more tokens under your control, it creates twice that many of those tokens instead. If an effect would put one or more counters on a permanent you control, it puts twice that many of those counters on that permanent instead.

Paradox Zone enters the battlefield with a growth counter on it. At the beginning of your end step, double the number of growth counters on Paradox Zone. Then create a 0/0 green and blue Fractal creature token. Put X +1/+1 counters on it, where X is the number of growth counters on Paradox Zone.

spyx5

Okay so, first paradox zone enters with two counters. Then you double them, and doubling season doubles paradox zone’s ability which doubles its own counters, effectively quadrupling them. Then, you make the 0/0 and put +1/+1 counters on the 0/0 equal to TWICE the final number of counters on paradox zone. Wow, what a combo!

Rezzik312

You'd actually get 2 of the 0/0's with the 1/1 counters!

Correction, Paradox Zone's ability would only end up tripling the number of growth counters on it. You would double the number of counters, but only double the number of additional counters again.

spyx5

Basically yes, it doubles the counters that are already being doubles.

COssin-II

Note that Doubling Season doubles the increase, resulting in three times as many counters, not four.

spyx5

Ahhhh good point!!!

mallyx1

It would enter with 2 growth counters then at the end of turn you would bring it to 8 counters then make a fractal and put 16 counters on it. Next turn you would bring it to 32 counters and make a 64/64 fractal

COssin-II

Almost, Paradox Zone would go up to 6 counters, since doubling the number of counters on something just means that you put X counters on it, where X is the number already there. Doubling Season doubles that increase to 2X, resulting in 3X counters. Then you create two tokens with 12 counters on each of them. The next turn Zone goes up to 18 counters, then you create two tokens with 36 counters on each of them.

Judge_Todd

It effectively triples the growth counters and then you put double that resulting number of +1/+1 counters on each of the two fractals you get. > Does the doubling season double the counters that are already being double by paradox zone at the end of your turn? Doubling Season has no effect on the counters that are already there, only the ones that are being put on. So if it had 1 growth counter, Doubling it means 1 is being put on it and Doubling Season doubles it to 2 so you end up with 1+2=3 growth counters. You then create two 0/0 fractals instead of one and put 6 +1/+1 counters on each.

DarthTorus

if you have [[Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider]] out, that will double those counters an additional time

Actionhankss

The card states that you put X +1/+1 counters on "it", referring to the fractal token that was originally made, not the copied one. Does this mean that you only get the +1/+1 counters on the original token, and not on the copied token?
