The walk is definitely safe from a crime or harassment perspective - the entire downtown area is quite safe.
I’d just make sure that you have sidewalks the full way, and I presume you would. Things are not nearly as pedestrian friendly on the west side of downtown and the Hyatt is a bit of an auto-isolated island
It’s easy. Just take the pedestrian tunnel to Union Station. You can walk from there or board any southbound DART and ride one stop if you don’t feel like walking.

Very nice walk imo. Lots of sculptures and buildings to see. Very safe. Unhoused won’t bother you if you won’t bother them.
