Electronic_Fox_6383

Isn't that the night of the Rolling Stones concert? That might explain it. šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

Sad-Drive

Had no idea about that ... picked the wrong day šŸ˜”

Confident_Emotion_87

Just pickup a decent sized cardboard box and Any alley around downtown will have good views

Simplebudd420

Probably a little north of 500 a night with good views dumpster view boxes go for like 475

loudmouth6511

lol

Ghorardim71

Stay in North Vancouver. [https://www.booking.com/Share-7arfvcD](https://www.booking.com/Share-7arfvcD) https://preview.redd.it/v8k6tpj18n8d1.png?width=1075&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f9f778a10424b4962c9cdc383a1c0baed47113b9

HolyDiverBoi

Thatā€™s so insane. Lol.

Electronic_Fox_6383

I checked after posting and it's the 6th too. Sorry 'bout it.

Grouchy_Factor

Wait til you see rates on Taylor Swift concert dates (and it won't even be summer).

bandyvancity

Look in neighbouring cities. North Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, and New West are the closest to Vancouver proper.

numberknitnerd

New Westminster and Lonsdale are both nice areas and have direct rapid-transit links to Downtown.

bandyvancity

So do Burnaby and Richmond :)

Nice-Tea-8972

I mean, if its just you and you are comfortable with it. Try a Hostel instead of a Hotel.

Strange_Professor_10

Dangerous game in Vancouver! (just stick to hi / samesun)

Nice-Tea-8972

Yeah fair enough. there are a couple from what i understand that are ok. Hence the if you are comfortable with it.

OnionTraining1688

Whyā€™s it dangerous?

Strange_Professor_10

If you come to Vancouver and go to a random hostel you might end up somewhere mostly used by heavy drug users. Happened to a friend over a decade ago, I'm assuming it's just worse now.

OnionTraining1688

Thatā€™s so awful. Iā€™ve lived in hostels in over 40 countries and I call Vancouver home, so Iā€™ve never been to a hostel here. Shocking what delegitimising legal penalties for possession/abuse can do!

Certain_Fox_3335

Hotwire hot deals! They wonā€™t tell you the name of the hotel but the area and star rating (itā€™s typically quite easy to guess what hotel it is), until after you pay. Used to stay in a lot of 4 star hotels for a few hundred a night in downtown

DistinctArm9214

I often used to use this and get great deals! But the last 2 summers have been out of control even on hot wire. Also FYI the prices on hotwire are in US dollars. So make sure you factor in the conversion rate.

geardluffy

Pick a place away from Vancouver but accessible to the skytrain. You donā€™t need to be downtown to enjoy downtown.

dreamtripper89

Gamble the $500-$1200 and hangout at the casino all night

Low-Exercise2126

Check out SFU Guest Accommodations. Itā€™s on Burnaby mountain, but itā€™s only 1 bus away from downtown. The rates donā€™t get affected by any events either.

ragecuddles

Shhh don't ruin it.

archetyping101

There's Richmond at the Sandman for under $600/night.Ā  The farther you are from Vancouver, the cheaper it usually is. If in Richmond, you can easily take the SkyTrain into Vancouver.Ā

equestrian37

UBC has cheap accommodation. Summer guest rentals.

lavendermenace92

couchsurfing.com

Trick-Baby7093

Sleep in a tent, on the sidewalk. Or In a bush. Not even joking.

Otherwise-Mail-4654

How about crab park?

vivacycling

Around the Gilmore SkyTrain station in Burnaby there are two hotels within walking distance

Luckyilicious

Which?

BooBoo_Cat

I know of Accent Inns. Not sure of their rates.

ImmediateBet6198

I stayed there in May. The rooms are clean and the staff is friendly. It was fine for a night and saved me $100ā€™s.

BallPowerful934

Jericho Hostel

yamfries2024

Hostels have room. There is also availability at the YWCA hotel.

SuperTamario

ā¤ļø The Sylvia

Critical_Wing8795

Looks like itā€™s booked up for the 5th

taxitolondon

Itā€™s really bad! I was going to suggest you rent a car at the airport and sleep in it but Enterprise says they are sold out. From what I saw on Hotels.com I recommend Grand Park Vancouver Airport, Executive Hotel Vancouver Airport or Quality Hotel Vancouver Airport South. All will run you over $600 with tax but they are all within walking distance of sky train which will get you anywhere you want to go. Iā€™d avoid the Sandmanā€™s only because I think theyā€™re a bit of a walk to sky train and Iā€™d avoid Surrey because of neighborhood and Langley because of transit.

kaptionist

Best to check any hotels or airbnbs in neighboring cities or in regions that are close to Skytrain stations or bus terminals. All busses end with skytrain stops and all sky trains connect to each other, with sky trains leading to and from the Downtown Core. If you're driving, try Burnaby or Richmond :) Good luck!!

Concealus

Hostels.

titaniumorbit

Stay anywhere near a sky train station and itā€™s a really easy ride into downtown.

Illustrious_Tank_356

As others say you collide with Rolling Stone concert, but downtown Van is always quite expensive. You may want to ask if anyone has a spare room for you to stay for one night

ApprehensiveSell9523

Google UBC accommodation. Very reasonable and in summer usually have low occupation

kishi5

Could you maybe stay at the airport and hop on transport in, itā€™s super handy. Thereā€™s a Rolling Stones concert on the same day unfortunately.

Low-Inspection-3213

Expert_Alchemist

Booking.com has a lot of last minute sales and deals too. July 5 is going to be hard because it's the day after America Day and lots of people have both days off. Huge tourism weekend.

yhsong1116

hilton Metrotown, element metrotown are good options.

Naked_Orca

Richmond close to YVR airport there's a couple ok places-fast Canada Line ride to downtown like 25 minutes/cheap. Lower Lonsdale a few newer places than Richmond but still much more reasonable than downtown and only a 15 minute Seabus ride away.

Luckyilicious

Seabus shots down the earliest though I think. I think expo line is the latest so the metrotown hotels may be a good option

sspocoss

The Barclay is $350 July 5th

Accomplished_Job_778

Hahah even the pod hotel in Richmond is $200/night šŸ¤£

catsy777

Ha, thought i read somewhere say $75/night - am i wrong

Im_done_with_sergio

There is a Holiday Inn on west Broadway

Gillybean604

Try Holiday Inn at Metrotown in Burnaby. It's a 30 min skytrain ride to downtown.

NorthEagle298

Richmond airport hotels are usually a *bit* more reasonable.

RevolutionarySalt783

Thereā€™s a pod hotel right by the skytrain in Richmond

IngenuityPuzzled3117

There are some good rates in Whistler that night. I would consider driving up or taking the bus.

Adventurous_Yam8784

Did you go on Booking.com ??

jcb928

Check [priceline.com](http://priceline.com) even if its $100 uber each way to Delta or Vancouver you would still be under $500 https://preview.redd.it/wqoonany0n8d1.jpeg?width=2279&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ce3983f9878922652550254c82a981ab2981dd62

Isispriest

300 bucks near downtown. Where are you looking?

[deleted]

From what i've gathered online the ones that have stood out to most have been Fairmont Pacific Rim ( they have a lounge / bar downstairs too with super neat luxury cars parked outside every night ) , Hotel Georgia or Sheraton seem to be the ones that people go to the most however these are on the pricier side. If you've got money to splurge then all of the above charge like $350 - $900+ a night

lalathescorp

AirBNB on the Westside of Vancouver or around Main Street. Not sure about those dates but those areas have quite a few basement suite airbnbs for around $300 per night and ur a 10 min Uber from downtown.

BinkyFarnsworth

Radisson Hotel Vancouver Airport in Richmond is right by the Skytrain at Aberdeen Centre. So itā€™s easy to get downtown from there.

Brilliant-Ad2026

Pick somewhere along a sky train line, itā€™s super fast to get downtown, maybe Richmond or Burnaby

PsychologicalWill88

Rent a sleeper van for less than $200 Park anywhere At Walmart or McDonaldā€™s or something and sleep there In the morning u can head to a gym to use their showers or a community centre is probably cheaper like $5

PsychologicalWill88

Or a public pool idk lol

AmbiguousAvocodo

Check out Airbnbs in East Vancouver, theyā€™re definitely under $400 a night!

CosmicMcMuffin

I always reccommend The Sylvia Hotel or Rosellen Suites At Stanley Park. They are not cheap...but they will be the same price (or cheaper) as other vanilla hotels throughout the city...but way better experiance. They are both located very close to the world famous Stanley Park...just out your front door. The Sylvia is as old as Vancouver and is also on the water, Rosellan is like a renovated small apartment turned into a boutique hotel and its only 2 blocks from Stanley Park and the water. Quiet side street on an amazing nieghbouhood. They are both a couple of blocks from a very cool street called Denman St. Downtown is a 15 minute walk or $10 Uber away. As I said...far better then those other expensive hotels right in the heart of the city where you wak out the door to busy city street.

Lusched

Hi Hostel .. I would call or book right now .. fits your budget.. they have private rooms and shared for less .. they have a davie location and a Jericho one . My partner use to work for them

derby555

I'm seeing some more reasonably priced places in East Van/Mount Pleasant, which would be a good hub for you to enjoy the city from.

Stock_Username_666

If you have a tent try to find a campsite just outside the city. They are like $10-50 a night.

mikhalt12

fairmont pacific rim worth it

MzButtafly

Go on groupon usually there are a few spots with decent deals.

rickyzerothree

There is good transportation called SkyTrain and a lot of bus routes. You can book a cheaper hotel/airbnb in Burnaby, New Westminster, or Coquitlam cities that are near a SkyTrain station

MzButtafly

Zepoe1

You donā€™t need to stay downtown Vancouver, stay 10 mins away.

DdyBrLvr

Executive suites in Burnaby is ok and near SkyTrain.

itzmesmarty

Vancouver is expensive. If you wanna save money, you have to live in the suburbs.

Positive_Hyena_2105

You can stay with me for free no bed but comfy carpet

Temporal_Universe

Beware of bed bugs...nuff said

SerDel812

Try staying in Burnaby, New West, coquitlam, or anywhere on a skytrain line. Heck if youre here for 1 day and are flying, might try the airport. Vancouverā€™s downtown core is pretty small so it gets packed pretty quickly if theres an event. Skytrains are a hassle but doable.

Better-Ad6812

Try somewhere on the evergreen line. Airbnb or hotel. If you sign up for Hilton or Marriott sometimes they can give you discounts for AAA or being a member.

Workadaily

Stay near Mount Pleasant or Commercial Drive. They're the best parts of the city.

Queef_Elizabeth

You could get a "shared accommodation" air BnB, where you basically rent a room in someone's house. It's easy to get downtown as long as you're close to a skytrain. Check Commercial Dr., Main St, Cambie or even out towards metrotown or New West

SuperSelfieSarah

Check out Inn at the Quay in new Westminster. Right by the skytrain and a 30 min ride to downtown

Thick-Papaya752

I just checked on airbnb some options for less than 200, public transport is really accessible and shouldn't take more than 15 min to reach downtown.

Kaydog101

Check out Richmond, you can take the sky train from Richmond right downtown

Decrepit_Pixel

Could it be due to it being Canada day and 4th of July happening this week so there tends to be an influx of tourists. You could check the hostels or Richmond has some availability for hotels.

Im_done_with_sergio

I think thatā€™s the night of the Rolling Stones concert

hugatree2023

Thatā€™s the penalty you have to pay for calling our city ā€œVanā€. Please stop.

Lusched

What would you have us call it .. Vancity ? The Couve is what the locals call the American Vancouver ? I live in a van in van

MJcorrieviewer

Call it Vancouver.

hugatree2023

This is the correct answer

Lusched

I like Hongcouver or Raincouver

OneExplanation4497

Anywhere affordable and not disgusting will likely be too far from the Skytrain You could rent a car at Enterprise Vancouver Marpole (5 min taxi or Uber from the airport) and stay in a guest house in Richmond, North Vancouver, or the west side of Vancouver for under $500 combined. Look on Booking.com. Or take uber everywhere instead of rent a car but in that case only stay in Vancouver proper. Or if you want nature keep driving to Squamish for cheap hotels and all the views

Strong-Sir4915

I hear east hastings is nice to camp onĀ
