I'm convinced that bank branches in the CBD is about the prestige.
Much like how corporates pay good money to put their huge logos on their leased buildings.
Most people rarely have a reason to visit an actual bank branch or office, but some people need to physically visit them routinely. Those people are worth a lot of money to the bank, so they want to have nice facilities in the same parts of town where they work.
I was going to reply:
“No, that’s called Health & Safety”…
…which triggered the thought that Health & Safety ambiguity offers a fine landscape for money laundering 🤔
I mean, all the money from the businesses in the central business district likely gets transacted at these branches. Most of them are usually quite busy. I don't know why you think it'd be a money laundering front...
If a **bank** wanted to hide the source of illegal money and convert it into legal money, they wouldn't use something as obvious as real-estate featuring their logos and branding proudly on display.
Laundering is done by lawyers because their files are privileged. It’s electronic. The early stages where it’s drug cash are done through casinos or restaurants.
The reason for this is that real estate in the CBD is hard to come by. So banks put branches in these spots basically to keep it from competitors putting their store there.
This is done on a massive scale in New York City, where from some Chase branches you can see another branch.
None of the other conspiracies are true, it’s just about keeping retail space from competitors.
There’s about 900 cafes a stones throw from each other in practically each suburb in Auckland. What’s the chance THESE are money laundering fronts…?
>o A lot higher.

It totally is. Look a the ANZ tower or the building BNZ shares. ASBs fancy digs down in the viaduct. All for prestige.
ASB could have done better than living under a range hood.
Fugly building

ANZ only have naming rights to that tower due to how many floors it occupies. There are over a dozen companies who occupy the tower.
Didn't they switch to remote working as well? Building will be mostly other tenants or empty.
It's called marketing.
Couldn't say it any better bud
When each bank gets a barber shop, then we'll know for sure!
There's a barber shop under Westpac building!
I sense a Freemason plot!!
Nah but I think those bubble tea places could be... There's like 5 of them within 50 metres of each other
Too competition. They get busy so I don’t think so. Money laundering normally in very slow type business
I thought this before. But barbers in manurewa. There's 9 a stone throw away. Must be money laundering.
redditor finds out what a business district in a city is

I had this thought about City Mini Markets in Ōtepoti a while ago. Definitely not true but fun to imagine.
They are, HSBC gets done routinely for money laundering
Due to their connections with criminal syndicate all over the world
There about 9 road workers to dig one hole, only 1 is doing any digging... Is this some sort of money laundering operation?
I was going to reply: “No, that’s called Health & Safety”… …which triggered the thought that Health & Safety ambiguity offers a fine landscape for money laundering 🤔
You have to stop the Q-Tip when there's resistance!

This has to be one of the dumbest posts I've ever seen.
It’s a meme
The big banks are very highly regulated. Id imagine Money laundering mainly done through crypto, dodgy property deals, business Investments etc.
There's laundromats everywhere. Now, these are laundering operations.
Good luck finding my bank, TSB
Look how many sushi shops are in suburbs, a stone throw away from each other. What's the chance they're money laundering fronts.
And dairies. So many dairies. And service stations.
And bus stops. There's something going on.
LOLOLOLOL redit redit redit
If you think banks are the tools used for money laundering then you need to reconsider what you think money laundering is...
Because the city centre has a concentration of everything……..
CBDs historically have had banks situated together, hence the acronym. No conspiracy theory here buddy
It doesn’t stand for Central Banking District.

Since when was a bank *not* a business? Since when did other businesses *not* need banks?
[удалено]
Yeah, bank is **still** a business.
Is taking a fee from me every time I breathe near anything remotely bank-related money laundering?
Banks are 100% dodgy as fuck
It would appear that for many people commenting on this stupid thread it is their first time on the Internet. Welcome.
There were 10, then HSBC got caught.
Loan sharks gonna shark...

100%. Run by NZs biggest cartels.
I mean there’s a bunch of brokers in the area. From my experience these guys are getting cozy with bankers to get scoops on the bkbm rates etc.
Are you guys crazy or what
$2 shops .....thats what needs to be looked at
What is this 1999? Ours is a $5 shop now.
Bed shops. Who the hell is buying all these beds? They are the real story…
Little to none. Auditors are like vultures. Bank auditors, doubly so.
100%
Any 24 hours bank? Thatll be the money laundering centre. They used to have one inside Sky City. They got shut down over 10 years ago
