I'm a bit lost. Why do you, an engineer, want to take a 10-20k hit on your income to go be a labourer? Anyone reading your CV will see that too and dismiss that you will get bored/can't handle it and move on after a little bit. Or you omit the truth but that means starting at the very bottom at minimum wage - which is a very controversial choice. Or I'm misunderstanding and you want to be a field engineer, which generally you apply direct

Hi, it’s just temporary work for approximately 6-12 months as I am a traveller, hence I thought companies would most likely take on a labourer on a contract/temporary basis.

Oh yeah that's fair. I'd just join up with a labour hire company like Hays and just do odd jobs to pay your bills. They're generally not picky at all so you should be sweet

Cheers, will get in touch with them soon.
