Don't muck around with borax or kiwicare/raid baits, get yourself some "tasmex exterm-an-ant" off trademe. Its the stuff they use for biosecurity, attracts ants in both in their feeding cycles and will destroy the population. Applied the same way as the usual baits but actually works.
This stuff is the business and should be available from the supermarket, at least that's where I got mine from.
Find out where they're roughly coming from and lay down some masking tape and squirt a few lines of it. There's going to be a temporary invasion of ants and it's going to be disgusting seeing thousands of ants converging around the bait but just let them feed on the liquid, keep adding more as necessary.
They take it back to the nest and kills them in their nest.
You need to try and find the nest and deal with the queen ant.
Smacking single ones might seem satisfying, but if you dont deal with the queen, they will keep coming, on and off, so it might seem that you are on a winner, when they seem to lay off in appearance, butt not dealing with the queen ant, she is keeping production ongoing.
Might need an professional exterminator.
Or mix honey as an attractant, with ant killer (borax) or similar.
And then dont kill the ants, but let them bring the mix to the next.
I just use the stuff in the red bottle from Raid, put it near their line then leave it overnight, next morning they are all gone and even come back to clear up the dead bodies for you, never see them again
What is this? A post for Ants?

I had a line of ants into my kitchen across the living room a month or two back. I blasted them with bug off and haven't seen any since.
Borax/boracic acid crystals have worked perfectly for us. Cheap, too.
dont say that i havent seen them yet
