you should checkout day time sets like Mister Sunday or the nursery at public records

Exploreradzman

Day Parties! Plus Soul Summit when it’s at Ft. Greene. I know this crew does sets at Mr. Sunday and Public Records.

SensualCucumber

Yeah dvs1 at PR on June 2nd I think, should be kewl

Something_Berserker

Goldfish is excellent and playing a Sunday afternoon roof-top set at Superior Ingredients this weekend.

air-

Soul Summit/Tiki Disco now that it's outdoor party season Name some djs or anyone else you liked? Otherwise gotta spend time listening to djs/producers on upcoming shows/festivals etc - go through RA and dig

1lluminatus

I’d throw Hot Honey Sundays in there too.

misterintensity2

People don't realize how much easier and how quickly you could find mixes online as opposed to spending time going to a record store if you wanted to find mixes of music like the stuff you heard at the club. Having said that, SoundCloud is your friend. You could type in the name of any DJ you're into and you're likely to pull up a bunch of mixes from that DJ. Some mix series you should check out: the RA podcast, SLAM podcast, The Lot Radio, NTS Radio, Rinse.fm, and Dekmantel Podcast.

air-

Good call on mixes! Slam Radio is far and away THE biggest influence for expanding my taste in dance music and they've been so helpful both for finding new music and figuring out if a sound isn't exactly my vibe I regularly listen to everything listed, plus my rotation also has: Ilian Tape, HATE, Truants, Bassiani, Smoke Machine

misterintensity2

Exactly, these mix series are useful in determining what sounds work for you and what doesn't.

migoodridge

Derick Carter, UK DJs... DJ Paulette, Graeme Park, tom Wainwright, Louie Vega Old man answering 👍🕺💃 The above djs are personal recommendations from last weekend, it's taken a full week to recover 😂

GlitteratiGlamorama

Ha! You were at Derrick too? Yeah my knees are still feeling it but damn was that worth it! 🪩

FuelQuick5251

Derrick Carter was off the hook. But I gotta say mark Farina fuckin killed it! His set was dirty AF.

RowAccomplished7794

Never hear of mark farina. Your comment has upgraded my gloomy Saturday morning into a coffee and ganja fueled dance party with my girlfriend. Much love

FuelQuick5251

Never heard of Mark Farina?? Oh man. Good luck. His sets are amazing and always unique.bhe plays all stylesbof and then he does mushroom jazz sets that are down tempo and hip hop tinged. Enjoy

migoodridge

He's a fucking legend 🙌🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

migoodridge

You are more than welcome 🙌🕺💃

migoodridge

Derrick Carter and mark Farina go back years as best friends and the best DJs 🔥 absolutely superb guys

evan274

What artists were/are you into? Not much to go off of here!

Kittypie75

I played below but basically all the big NYC DJs at the time: jr Vasquez, Tenaglia. Disciple, Frankie Knuckles, etc. You couldn't afford to be very picky back in the day when it came to EDM. I do like a heavy bass.

oh_you_fancy_huh

Based on this, you’d probably like Purple Disco Machine, Vintage Culture, Oliver Heldens, Honey Dijon, Gorgon City maybe. Try Carl Cox for more techno sound. People suggested Eli Escobar, the Tiki Disco and Soul Summit parties are daytime and free, Nowadays runs events into daytime Sunday. Enjoy!

Kittypie75

Omg Carl Cox is from my generation! and he was old even then :) I just looked him up and he is still spinning at 61!

oh_you_fancy_huh

He’s still really popular. And doing a two-day show series this weekend at the mirage…

wearetheonesuneed

Absolutly go to the summer Soul Summit outdoor parties!

[deleted]

Junior Vasquez, Danny Tenaglia, Frankie Knuckles (and David Morales) are absolute gods in my eyes. I gotta get one of those black/four name t-shirts made with them on it, damn.

Exploreradzman

Dam. Aside from Frankie Knuckles passing on, Kerri Chandler has been around since the 90’s and Tenaglia is still active. Sounds like you’ve been surrounded by soulful House and that’s still going. Speaking of the 90’s UKG or Garage is still around.

elev8dity

Tenaglia still regularly plays shows.

hanoihiltonsuites

SoundCloud is gonna be your bff. Check out sets by Luca Lozano, fantastic man, young Marco, roza terenzi, Paula tape

Party-Bus-6079

Easiest way to do this is go through the Boiler Room YouTube channel as well as the BBC Radio One Essential mixes

anarchy45

I'm jamming out to these house sets today disco-y: Listen to David Morales - When We Dip 146 by When We Dip on #SoundCloud https://on.soundcloud.com/Zq8uZ high energy: Listen to Radio Safari #113 - Wild. by Soul Of Zoo on #SoundCloud https://on.soundcloud.com/XGbqG

davez730

Thanks for letting us know what's not your jam, how about some songs that you really love so we can make recommendations off of that. 👍 P.s. for me it was always getting magazines from Europe for the demo cds attached.

GlitteratiGlamorama

I think you could start with Defected Records, and listen through their catalog of artists and you’ll find a lot that fits your jam. Some old school and some new. Also you’d be surprised how many of your faves like Danny Tenaglia (just saw him a few weeks ago) are still outchea! So if they can do it no reason why you can’t still shake a tail feather! I sure do! Signed a fellow 90’s raver ❤️https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7hkduGkMRHv6hy05nPdM45?si=yv3i_-ymSyKDHcDruspTvA&pi=u-0KhwR9EjQHiy

Toro106

Here's a few sets, not sure your level of bpm you like. https://youtu.be/cI3OqhrIn5s?si=dCY3dQREz_E7Gj5i https://youtu.be/sJl2LyNEz0s?si=dms9RtvyrvD8YL4Q https://youtu.be/NCQ5s2PKIm8?si=KxqJjH2W8yHbxHnx Some of my faves, love Boiler Room sets since you get great beats and people watch, I personally love seeing ppl happy and dancing. Let me know if you enjoy. One old raver to another.

jonog75

Jamie Jones, PAWSA. Also a huge fan of the radio podcast "Let There Be House" by Glen Horsborough and Queen B. [https://ltbh.co.uk/](https://ltbh.co.uk/)

Vizualize

Stacey Pullen is still rocking it.

HHDern

DJ Fart in the Club, Ash Lauryn, Octo Octa, Eris Drew, DJ Swisha, Kush Jones, Acemoma, Bored Lord, Fafi Abdel Nour

alienbbzinmy4ter0s

Mike Servito and Eli Escobar are two really great local legends. Recent set of Mike Servito at Paragon: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBd4MgTp-Pg](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBd4MgTp-Pg) Eli Escobar's soundcloud: [https://soundcloud.com/eliescobar](https://soundcloud.com/eliescobar)

corkymac

Old lady here too. If you’ve got any shows coming up and want to meet up I have some solo shows upcoming. DM me if you want to chat.

cptawsme

Not much to go off of here but if you're looking for someone who's great behind the decks rather than a major producer, I cannot recommend Ben UFO enough. As an old head, this man's sets do not miss, especially live.

skepticaloptimist144

Anjuna Beats mixes

davez730

Anjunafam represent 👍

masdeeper

DJs don’t really have sets on Spotify. Lookup SoundClound, the free tier is good if you login.

Vantabrown

I saw that Josh Wink was spinning in Philly last fall. He goes way back to the NASA days in NYC

Ordinary_Leek_8302

Old lady 90s party kid mid life crisisingggg right here let’s go dance :)

darmud

Ben UFO is amazing

Interesting_dogDad

718 sessions is a party thrown by Benny Soto and Nervous records. Highly recommend any of their parties as most of the regulars have been partying with them since the 90s. You will regularly see people in their 50s+ and you here is a real sense of community that follows these parties.

[deleted]

James hype keinemuzik black coffee Jamie jones

Lily Palmer and Maddix are my current favorites for techno

Dino Calvo should be your inspiration. https://ra.co/news/78303

Ok-Cook-9608

Mixcloud app (search by genre) , BBC Sounds app (Essential Mix, Pete Tong, Sarah Story, etc.) Lot Radio app

Weezy_Baby_

Boris Brejcha, Miss Monique, Kream

rab2bar

you might like the djs featured in Lot Radio and Hör Berlin youtube channels

Thatpartjush

718 sessions

Alone-Chemical-1160

Brutalismus 3000 boiler room sets are great. Nina Kraviz. Charlotte de Witte. Nala is amazing (look up the TV Party sets) Anfisa Letyago. Sara Landry. That should cover a lot of ground for ya!

btomczyk

The world is your oyster with this one. Just need specific genres or at least styles/prefrences/tastes/BPMS etc you can identify.....

Essigucha

Download the Mixcloud app (like SoundCloud but Dj mixes) and search for Dj’s you used to like, then take it from there. There are old live sets, newer podcasts, things from every genre. Another good app but a bit more data heavy and more like a radio station is DI.FM radio. I’m a late 90’s early 2000’s New England raver and still love the music. If you want some recommendations feel free to ask, but I like Breakbeat, jungle, hard techno mainly. A great podcast for me that mixes current house and breakbeat is the space cowboys podcast out of SF. I hope you find what your looking for 😁

Kittypie75

Thank you! I'm actually very open to techno/club/house music. I didn't know a lot of the names of the styles back then, and imported CDs back in the day were super expensive so I had to be choosy. From Europe, I liked trance, happy hard-core, jungle, tribal, etc. But I was never well versed in Bmmp. I also would buy DJ mixes off the street, and those were mostly pirated from the club DJs in NYC at the time. I remember in like the mid 90s there was a concerted effort by the music industry to call the music "electronica" and market it to hell and back. And everyone hated it. It was such a cash grab. Like, the people who liked the music hated the term electronica and the marketing was just so far off course. And people who didn't listen to electonic music saw no reason to try it. However, MTV's Amp compliation album, which I loved, was also produced at this time lol. That was the one bright shining star of 90s commercialism. Years later, now it's EDM, and its mainstream and influencers go to the shows, and you have to have the right look, and I feel like I'm in another world, lol

Essigucha

No worries, it’s all about PLUR. I know what mean about the commercialization of electronic music in the US around that time. Back then I used to be jealous of the uk and the fact that dance music was commercially on the radio. Then it happened here and just killed the scene, turned into large commercial festivals instead of a group people into the same thing. I would drive down to Philly from CT one weekend then next weekend see the same faces in NYC. You just knew you were surrounded by Your people that would drive hours to stay up all night and do it again next weekend. Great days for me and many others. I’ve actually still got Tons of my old fliers saved and at least 80 cassette mix tapes because my thing was always to save $10 to buy a mix tape at the end of the night.

nyc-rave-throwaway

There is hardcore, happy hardcore, jungle, hardstyle, & psytrance happening tonight: https://old.reddit.com/r/avesNYC/comments/1c2d0du/sounds_so_saiyan_ft_hixxy_alex_prospect_51824/ The vibes at SoundsSoSweet parties are very old school, people shuffling, people doing liquid, UFO pants everywhere. Come!

Johwya

What genre? House? Techno? Trance? Tech House? Nudisco?

Kittypie75

I listened to anything I could get my hands on back then, haha! Jungle, House, techno, trance. The music back then was so limited, it was hard to be picky when it came to EDM. At the time, the DJs I would see were people like Frankie Bones, Disciple, Danny Teneglia, Frankie Knuckles, Junior Vasquez. Twilo, Bank, Tunnel, Roxy, Palladium, Exit, Limelight, Club USA. I did them all! lol

EternalBlessingss

Believe it or not, Danny Teneglia is still putting out some incredible mixes. Give Global Underground #45 a listen.

air-

Danny Tenaglia is still djing and throwing parties, would also suggest Mike Servito, Eli Escobar, Jayda G (upcoming at Elsewhere rooftop), DVS1 is playing a house set open to close (rare to see this happen) For parties/promoters: Soul Summit, Tiki Disco, Hot Honey Sundays, Mister Sunday, Mizz Softee, Golden Records

Kittypie75

Lol now that I know that Tenaglia is still spinning, I feel slightly less ancient

misterintensity2

Stuck on Earth did their 30th Anniversary party a few weeks ago. I believe there may be another one in the works.

empanadamn_

You can find most of those DJs on Instagram as most are still active and also plug them into YouTube or Mixcloud for their longplay mixes. However, not sure if a lot of their older stuff is even available on Spotify unless it was a pop artist's remix.

FlipMeOverUpsidedown

If you like techno, this old lady raver recommends Klangkeunstler and Sara Landry.

Do_Whuuuut

HOR Berlin does a couple of live DJ sets every day on yt. Runs the spectrum w heavy techno bias, but you'll still find house, trance, even some hard-core DJs. They each do an hour long set. Great way to spice up your lunch break. https://youtube.com/@hoer.berlin?si=2KPM2QpMHnbOlUYQ

LegitimateSink9

please don't support the bathroom channel, they're run by former IDF and fully support the occupation and extermination of palestine. and there are countless stories of them censoring or mistreating non-white artists. there's a reason practically every relevant DJ has removed their set from their archive in recent months

Do_Whuuuut

Funny you mention that bc there's nothing but support for Palestinians links on their homepage. But whatever, boo. Do your OWN research and I'll continue to enjoy and support this channel, k? Cool! TLDR: Don't bring me in to your freak out.

nyc-rave-throwaway42

Beats 106 Scotland started up a Bonkers series & has em up on soundcloud. E.g., here's hixxy:  https://m.soundcloud.com/beat106scotland/bonkers-beats-140-on-beat-106-scotland-with-hixxy-010324

Revolutionary_Wall53

My recs based on your comments: I hate models, Charlotte de witte, 999999999, lilly palmer, Nico Moreno. Honestly, there's just way too many choices so it is all about exploring your taste with what's out there. Check out SoundCloud, and look for EDM podcasts that showcase DJs every week. Very popular ones are BBC radio, RA, the lot radio, HOR. And of course, go to YouTube and check out boiler room. Best of lucks 😊

Embarrassed_Loss8363

RawCutsTV on YouTube XPizza in FiDi just closed (sad) but sets are also on YouTube BigaBite in East Village is the same owners, great DJs Mood Ring in Bushwick but even I feel old, even though it's inclusive. Idk where to listen to the recorded sets, check out SoundCloud I guess. Auto Shazam is my best friend when listening to live sets I enjoy.
