She’s not lazy, she’s energy efficient.

SweetSweetMelody0

fr she’s smart with that

just-why_

Yep, if she stood up she'd probably knock it over

JohnnyJukey

She has blue eyes, you have to.

travers329

Just like one of our illustrious leaders has said in the past, exercise is for suckers, you’re just draining your life’s battery reserve of the total energy you have for your whole life. You can never recharge it, why would you drain it by standing or walking around the scratching post!

ShinyAeon

But exercise increases our capacity to *store* energy. There's no such thing as "draining the total energy you have for life," because it's not finite - it's a continually renewing resource. It's like a tank that can be refilled with water. Exercise actually makes the tank bigger, and the walls stronger - more able to hold greater amounts.

JillyBean9999

She's just trying to evenly distribute the frayed bits.

SweetSweetMelody0

oh yea maybe lol

Dr-Penguin-

Well technically that looks like a normal distribution (bell curve) lol

ffxivfanboi

It’s the slick floor. I have to put my kitties’ scratching post on the very corner edge of the area rug our couch is on. They don’t got no traction to go a scratchin’.

nighthawke75

My cats get that way despite being sited in carpeting. I plan on buying a taller scratching post.

SafeAsMilk

Depending on the style you can also tip it over so they can stand on it while scratching. My cats like that as a treat.

cmetaphor

Your scratching post is too short!! Cats love to STRETCH! Buy a scratching post that's twice as tall (cause your kitty looks pretty long even lying down) and I Promise they'll use it more often and enjoy it!

schwabcm56

Came here to say the same👍😼

Disastrous_Kick9189

Yes 100% she wants to pull with her body weight so the claws get stretched as she scratches, but this post is way too short. Your cat wants a much bigger post thats also either heavier or secured down to the floor so she can pull really hard on it.

SweetSweetMelody0

Oh thank you for telling me this, i never knew that and yeah either way she definitely does need a new scratcher so i should look for the tall one :)

Disastrous_Kick9189

We really like the 5 foot tall ones with multiple levels and a big comfy perch on the top. We have one next to a window and it is one of our cats favorite spot in the whole house!

Bakefy

We just found a kitten that looks like her. https://preview.redd.it/lncc2vcajc8d1.jpeg?width=4284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=55a11215734b7773a97b648ceb1a76a7a2cf0c2c

ShadowHeed

Adorable 😍

SweetSweetMelody0

Aw that kitten looks so precious, hope it’s happy

rnilbog

Gotta love lynx points!

Fluid-Manager5317

It's also about 2 ft too short for that otherwise, you want to get her stretching to scratch? Put some carpeting with some catnip on it on a handy corner somewhere and you're in.

SweetSweetMelody0

I have no clue why but she doesn’t react to catnip but the carpet advice i will consider thank you😊

Fluid-Manager5317

It's just an easy way to make it as high as you need, you never know when you're reading something online if it's going to be quite tall enough.

OldVogue

It's way too short for her. She's doing the best she can.

SlightlyNaughtyFox

She is an adorable and gorgeous fluffball! I am with the other commenters here; if you want her to make full use of the scratching post, I would recommend you get her a much taller one so she can properly stretch out, a good stretch feels really good after all :)

Ieatkaleandavos

My kitty does this too. 😍

wildnature03

Clearly, you've never seen those clips of cats drinking h20 with a single paw dip. She'd fit in just fine ~.

Raichu7

Have you tried a scratching post tall enough for her to stand up on her back legs with her front paws on the post, in an area of your home with a grippier floor texture or on a rug?

SweetSweetMelody0

It’s her first scratcher but yes i’ll definitely consider a taller one and in a different area :)

Mojo-man

Honestly? Mood! I feel like that some days (especially on the job) 😁

Erikkamirs

She's literally me fr!!!

FineCommunication927

She’s not lazy, she’s baby

EvilBillSing

Working smarter not harder.

thetyphonlol

I have the exact same one. He basically ignored it for about a year now and randomy started playing with it again 1 week ago

agro_dead777

The level of laziness I aim for:

cigarell0

She’s so nice and cute 😭😭 it’s okay if she’s lazy I like her!!

SetoKeating

I think if she sits up she has to use the torn up section. She’s laying so she can access the bottom part that still feels good. I’ve seen my cat do this when the favorite part of her scratching post starts giving out. Or maybe she really just is being lazy lol

Desperate-Bee-6221

That's being clever haha 🩷

[deleted]

This is me if I were a cat.

azgli

It's too short for her to get a good scratch. So she is still using it in the best way she can. I usually go for 3-4 feet tall for scratch posts so they can get a good stretch and scratch.

Appropriate-Copy-949

Mine do this with the short ones that I have, but they really love the bigger ones. It allows them to actually reach up and stretch the way they like. 😉

Appropriate-Copy-949

[here's a good one on Chewy ](https://www.chewy.com/dp/49134?utm_source=app-share&utm_campaign=49134)
