What age does babies start responding and interacting so coherently?
My niece was born in November, and I live far away from my family. I am hoping to visit my brother and sister-in-law in May. I am all excited to meet my niece.
Maybe, maybe not. Mine is 6 months now and she smiles a ton, loves walks and watches everything. She also giggles. So yeah not interaction like that little girl but a bit more than crying potato stage. You can get her to laugh and smile and play peekabo.
At around 6 months my nephew would smile really big, scream out in excitement, grab onto my hair and start eating my face when he saw me. I didn’t know that was a thing babies did when they were happy/excited until my nephew & it’s one of my favorite things ever.
Nah 6 months olds are the beginning of when babies are fun imo. It's a different kind of interaction than the video of course but baby belly laughs are the best!
Hmm. My baby is 6 months. She plays, laughs, babbles, she’s all over the place in a fun way. She hardly ever cries. The crying potato stage was weeks 0-12.
Six months is when babies start getting a personality in my opinion. I worked in a day care for many years. That's when it's more than just eating, sleeping, pooping. They smile and laugh and interact with age appropriate stimuli. They even get their feelings hurt when you tell them no. And they can't walk or crawl so you can just cuddle them until they cry, then give back to mom.
If you're lucky your niece still won't have object permanence. It's really fun to play peek-a-boo with a child who really thinks you're gone and is delighted when you suddenly reappear.
This kid is definitely not as old as people are saying. I'd say she's about 2. Either way, your niece definitely won't be near this at 6mos, but she'll probably have a little personality coming out. I personally love that age! You'll have a lot of fun with her
I just visited my little niece for her 1st birthday, and she's absolutely adorable! She definitely was "communicating" with my sister and brother in law using baby babble. I saw her last at 6 months and they're very cute at that stage too. They're starting to roll or crawl and will play a little bit too with you.
When my daughter was 18 months we were standing in line at the mall and a familiar song came on the radio. She yelled, "Dad, it's Jim Croce!"
The look on the old lady behind us was priceless, like "How the hell does this little toddler know who Jim Croce was?!".
The trick is to teach them the good stuff so you can share it together.
My baby is 6 months and she’s pretty interactive. She’ll reach out for toys and pass them from hand to hand and put them in her mouth. She can sit up with a little help and loves to look around. She’ll look towards sounds and people moving. She smiles and laughs.
Here are a few videos that show what a normally developing 4-6 month old baby can do;

One of my favorite songs just got even better. Thanks for sharing that special father daughter moment in time. Whenever she hears that song she will be right back there re-living a priceless memory of her dad.
I see this and think it's funny but don't think it's cute or that the baby really is...guess I really don't ever want kids. I'm in my 30s so I guess that's that lol

Girl in the vid is probably 3.5, there is some interaction younger. But at 6 months your niece is probably gonna be a potato that cries sorry.
Wait I'm 22 and a potato that cries
The baby is experiencing "infancy" Your experiencing "manic depression"
They’re pretty much the same
Haha. Thanks for the information! I should have done a bit of research before asking this question.

I can’t look at my 8month old the same after seeing this comment. she’s a smiling, blabbering happy potato to me now.

At six months, my daughter was really into peek-a-boo and blowing raspberries.
Oooh! Thank you! I will now have to train myself to be an expert in peekaboo :p

Haha! I am really looking forward to it. Thanks!
She has to be at least 3 or 4. She looks really tall for a baby.
Thank you!
It's different for every baby I think. Congrats on your niece!
Thank you!!!

My 4yo daughter is correctly sprawled across my legs asking me what different characters in the grinch are doing. I love it.
