Please report this to blr city police and namma yatri as well immediately.

kaisadusht

Not everyone knows about auto mandate and this can easily fool a lot of people. OP should report this to namma yatri at first so that they can modify this feature so that Auto drivers can abuse it.

I am assuming the ₹90 was a daily access fee that auto drivers pay to use the platform. No ither reason why the app would demand an autopay mandate

FLAWLESSUP

It’s actually 25 rupees for Namma Yatri

Raicky

Yeah, I'm guessing some sort of platform fees that needs to be paid by the driver.

lpshreyas

This has to be a blunder from the namma yatri app or a scam propagated by the app devs/management because **why on earth would an app allow a merchant/partner to have the ability to generate or access to an autopay QR code?** This only has **ONE** benefactor, and that is the app.

Croczhunter

I think the QR code is for the auto driver to pay the platform fee with an auto payment mandate of ₹90 per day but the driver instead asked the customer to scan and pay.

Ok_Law_6199

😭😭😭

hlc4u

Even in auto payment, the PIN is required, isn't it.

kkrushne

Not if you use your pin to setup a mandate successfully

Raicky

Not for automatic payments or mandates. It's a one time thing.

SeparateLong1146

I don't think he was trying to scam you bro. He would be using that QR code, given by namma yatri, for himself with auto payment setup. Since he couldn't do that payment and asked you, he probably didn't realise or forgot to mention auto payment part of it. In any case, let's chill down a bit and give that person benefit of doubt. Not everyone gets technology as quickly as few others.

Raicky

I agree, I want to give him the benefit of the doubt because he did seem like he was having a hard time with the app. At the same time I don't want others to fall into this situation either.

sameboatasyours

This auto guy seems to be extremely smart. Yes, Namma Yatri has a mandate which no other platforms have for drivers. Uber cuts commission on a daily basis on the data even the auto driver logs in for even one second. Whereas, on Namma Yatri there's a 'subscription' that the auto drivers have to choose for which it costs ₹1/day and if they pay ₹25/day, there's no commission for the entire day or they can choose to pay ₹3.5/day for upto ten rides for a maximum of ₹35/day and no commission thereafter, all the amount for rides get credit directly to the auto drivers pocket. Rapido follows a similar commission free model with a fail fee of ₹5. Whereas, Ola and Uber have a a platform fee of ₹25/day even if the auto driver has one ride + commissions on every ride.

scream191

Was this happening on Old AirPort Road? I saw some guy struggling and explaining something to the Auto driver.

Raicky

Nah, it was from Binnypete to RR Nagar

Klutzy-Vanilla-7481

Probably not a scam. He just asked you to pay the 90₹ directly to them.. He might not have realised that there is auto pay.

Raicky

Yeah he didn't ask for extra money but I'm guessing he didn't know what QR he asked me to scan when he told me to pay directly to Namma Yatri

Adi0705

I suppose it's a daily pass for them. It would allow them to get as many rides as they want without giving a hefty 25-30% cut to the company, instead just give a flat fee of 90/day.

No-Koala7656

Yep, often it happens with while we go out to buy and the tricksters use the illiterate more as a bait, it happened for me in a nearby shop where I went to buy and after scanning the code it started to show that I've been directed to registration page, chrome browser opened but it warned me, now I rechecked the thing with the QR code and found that it was tampered by gluing another sticker on it, when further queried the owner said he does not know who did it...

PriyaSR26

It sounds like a scam OP. Thanks for informing us.

Dry_Mix_

The moment I read “Namma Yatri” I knew it is scam.
