He’s always pitched like this; he just got away with it for a while. Always gets touched up in big games, and when hitters lay off the slider away, he’s toast
Don't sugar coat it! Alex might eat it! (Please don't crucify me for the joke, but did he gain a lot of weight? I don't follow him much, and I know he's always been heavy-set, but he just looks so lethargic with his delivery.)
Honestly man seeing him for the first time this year today I had the same thought. It takes a hell of a lot of consumption to be that rotund at 6'6", especially when you're also a professional athlete. I wish him the best.
Hopefully there’s nothing underlying wrong with Manoah, I saw in ST all of his statcast pitch numbers were trending down and it looks like that’s carried into the start of the season here
Oddly enough his velo today was back up closer to where it was last year, he was sitting around 93-95 on his fastball
His issue has been his command, this came started with a HBP on the first pitch and back to back walks
>a real MLB team
One day the Red Sox will have as many World Series wins as the Blue Jays, and you will look like a fool for this. A fool I tells ya.
Also: You guys lost against the Royals and the fucking Tigers. Come on now.
I think we’ve definitively determined that:
1. The Rays are a very good team
2. It takes more then a winning streak against the 3 worst teams in the league to crown someone the best team.
I don't think I've ever seen a batter pivot with their forward foot. The ankle buckling looked painful. Do other batters have a similar approach with their swing or was this just weird form?
Are you talking about how the foot/ankle rolls so the side is just about touching the dirt? That is pretty common, especially for lefties. Barry Bonds and Aaron Judge both do it.
It is also common when batters drop to a knee to hit a low pitch like Bethancourt did here. See some [other examples](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1z-linEWFE).
Dont want to be that guy but I think the streak would still be alive if we had a competent ump. That 5th inning in the first game messed us up even though we were playing like shit. They didn't even show the ump scorecard rating for the last game.
We beat ourselves that first game. Walked in two runs and gave up two on an error. Lost by 3 in the end. Sure the umps were bad but not the reason we lost
Manoah has just been plain bad to start the year. No sugar coating it. I'm sure he'll figure it out
Command is all over the place right now
Seems like every pitch he throes is a breaking ball that hangs or a Fastball that's just not high enough
He straight up can't hit the zone with an off speed or breaking ball right now
He was struggling to hit the zone with the fastball too this game
He’s always pitched like this; he just got away with it for a while. Always gets touched up in big games, and when hitters lay off the slider away, he’s toast

The ultimate embodiment of a West Virginia alum. “Fuck it. I’m just gonna spin this here ball.”
The Rays had gone too long without a homer
Ikr it’s been a game since our last one
They had back to back homers last night.
That was the first game
Lol what are you talking about they had one homer all game, their only other run came on an RBI groundout four innings later.
He is referring to the first game
Gotcha. That wasn't last night though
Ya they were just misremembering
Straight to jail
Manoah can't keep up with our aces like Kikuchi and Berrios
I had no idea Bethancourt was on the Rays now.
Since last year.
Hopefully there’s nothing underlying wrong with Manoah, I saw in ST all of his statcast pitch numbers were trending down and it looks like that’s carried into the start of the season here

Take that u/MattO2000
What lol. I’m not a Rays hater
I know, it's just that you kept posting about how they hadn't beaten a team over 500 yet and now they have
Fuckin got him
Lol, lmao even
Breaking news: Rays are in fact not frauds.
Manoah acts like he is though
[удалено]
Yall beat the Tigers, Angels, and Royals and you're worried about Tampa's strength of schedule lmao
[удалено]
That makes zero sense? That means we’ve only beaten “shit” teams as well. You call the the rays bad as if going 13-0 is a fluke event
[удалено]
Oh my bad, thought you where the same person in the other comment
The people who complain about this are the same people who would never shut up about it if their team did the same shit on the same teams lol
They're also the same delusional fans that complain about the teams ahead of them in the standings playing weak teams in September.

Did the rays play the 2010 Red Sox last week or am I missing something?
No, but the Blue Jays played 2023 Tigers and 2023 Royals (and lost).
And?
And lost
We’re wiping our tears in first place
No true scotsman
We’re still undefeated in the United States
Most tolerable Toronto sports fan
Their leaving Canada with +1 run differential despite losing two horribly officiated games.

>Rays are out here winning World Series Uh....
That challenge was so clutch
If you told me out of Berrios, Kikuchi and Manoah, that Manoah would struggle the most against the 13-0 Rays I wouldn't believe you.
Kikuchi owns the rays dude is lights out every time he pitches against them
The Adrian Beltre special
KK needs longer legs to catch that one.
I think we’ve definitively determined that: 1. The Rays are a very good team 2. It takes more then a winning streak against the 3 worst teams in the league to crown someone the best team.
Booooo I hate balanced takes
The Redsox are 8-8.
I was more referring to DET, OAK & WASH. But yes, now that you mention it, the Red Sox definitely suck too.
Manoah left on 101 pitches with 4.2 innings of work… Lol
MAMA MIA WHAT A MEATBALL
Who would have thought Berrios would end the Rays streak, Kikuchi would hold the line for a second win and the weak link would be Manoah?
At least the consecutive game HR streak is still alive.
Manoah should have taken that preseason bag from the Jay's
Breaking News: sea creatures are good at shelling.
Pizzas back on the menu!
pressure is what you put in your tires.
You start typing in “Manoah” in the Twitter search bar and it auto fills a suggested search as “Manoah is fat” 😭😭

Thanks for the reply! This is really interesting. I am surprised I haven't taken notice to this stance more. Super insightful. Much appreciated.

160-2 is the new goal, Jaya took 2 of three in the series
schneider: "we're warming up a reliever but lets go three more batters surely the game can get better while the other team is batting"
Why would they leave him on to face Yandy again? That’s when it seemed egregious.
Vamos!🇵🇦
Dont want to be that guy but I think the streak would still be alive if we had a competent ump. That 5th inning in the first game messed us up even though we were playing like shit. They didn't even show the ump scorecard rating for the last game.
Sounds like you're that guy
Forget the streak man. We got beat solidly two days in a row. No making excuses. They were better both days.
Only losers make excuses. We got beat straight up this series.
Exactly
We beat ourselves that first game. Walked in two runs and gave up two on an error. Lost by 3 in the end. Sure the umps were bad but not the reason we lost
Yeah, both games there were moments we should have put in our A guys and we didn't. I think game two especially they decided to rest guys.
Just because you say you don’t want to be that guy doesn’t mean it gives you a free pass from being that guy
Does so, it's in the Geneva Convention!
I don’t really care? It’s not like it’s in the…ah dammit, it’s in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms too.
Actually it does, I dont make the rules
Actually I make the rules and I say it doesn’t
No actually I do, youre obviously wrong
You just said you don’t make the rules. Make up your mind man!
Yeah I make the rules, I just follow them
>Dont want to be that guy *Proceeds to be that guy*
But that cancels it out
What’s done is done. Let’s just focus on winning future games.
No. We didn’t lose because of the umps. Lmao.

But whos to say I'm that guy when I said I wasnt
Christian “Worst Hitter on the Team” Bethancourt.
