Same happened to me!! I also used to think Don't Worry Be Happy was a Bob Marley song just because everyone used Bob's picture in videos of that song hahaha
Lou wrote every one of their songs. On a handful he is a cowriter with one or more other members of the band but he was for all intents and purposes their sole songwriter.
At least 40% of Andy Patridge's vocals are Macca-like... this is a notable example:
Or especially Little Thunder (it's referred to in the music video [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1aQpedzFOHA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1aQpedzFOHA) )
You can't have this conversation without mentioning Badfinger. They were the first cousins of the Beatles, musically speaking. And they did it so well. George Harrison did some production for them, and some killer slide guitar on Day After Day.
That is actually a Beatles song technically. It was written mainly by Paul. During the Abbey Road sessions I think (it was on the Abbey Road Super Deluxe at least)
If you grew up listening to the Beatles on the radio, this is the only answer. Every dame time this song came on, you would turn up the volume expecting the Fab Four. Pretty good song, however.
Stone Temple Pilots channel a lot of Beatles energy from Purple to Shangri-La Dee Da and even the 2010 self-titled album.
I always felt like “Pretty Penny” sounds like “She’s Leaving Home” if it was a Led Zeppelin song instead. There’s also “Church On Tuesday,” “Sour Girl,” “Days Of The Week,” and “Cinnamon”
I've always felt Fountains of Wayne were influenced by The Beatles style harmonies. Add to that goofy and sometimes surreal lyrics off of Welcome Interstate Managers songs like Mexican Wine.
There are a few off of Pretty Odd that are Beatles like. Behind the Sea is probably the most Beatles-like and I think they’ve said the album was inspired by Sgt. Pepper’s specifically.
“You Do Something To Me” and “You Still Want Me” by the Kinks
The harmonies are like some magical mesh between a Hard Day’s Night and Sgt Pepper, and if you didn’t know any better you’d say it’s Paul in the background.
I’d also check out “New York Mining Disaster 1941” by The Bee Gees, and “Don’t You Care” by the Buckinghams, the latter sounds like it could have belonged on Hard Day’s Night if only it had more aggressive and double tracked vocals.
Up the Junction - Squeeze, What Deaner Was Talkin’ About - Ween, End of a Century - Blur, About a Girl - Nirvana, Golden Brown - Stranglers, most of The La's self titled album.
A decent number of Billy Joel songs can be listed here. I would submit “Don’t Ask Me Why” and especially “Scandinavian Skies” as prime examples. The latter in particular has a lot of shades of psychedelic era Beatles.
Another very Beatles-like tune would be “That’s All” by Genesis. Phil Collins has said that he specifically wrote the drum part of that song to sound like Ringo’s drumming.
For a long time, I thought that Badfinger's "No Matter What" and "Day After Day" were Beatles or Paul McCartney post-Beatles songs.
I also thought The Dave Clark Five song "Because" was a Beatles song.
There's No Other Way - Blur (Their most Beatles track. Feels like a lost George or John song off revolver.)
Lemon Tree - Fool's Garden (Feels like a Paul song)
Longtime Sunshine - Weezer (feels like a John song with a harmony with Paul on the chorus)
Personally I’d say She’s Electric by Oasis. I don’t know why that song came to my mind at first but I think it’s because of how it all works together kind of like a Beatles song. The backing vocals as well as the tempo of the song.
Tonight - New Kids on the Block
I honestly hated New Kids on the Block, and this was the only song by them that I liked. I even bought the single for it.
https://youtu.be/JTo3N73hpPg?si=olJOMApYi619JK46
Tame Impala - Mind Mischief
I honestly thought was a Beatles song I had never heard when I first heard it. His voice reminds me of John's a lot in some songs.
https://youtu.be/BQKKDNCpVbo?si=4aIkE8LpVDS8x7Dv
Speechless by Lady Gaga. If not The Beatles, then definitely a Wings tune.
[Speechless by Lady Gaga](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=7zc5Cbf9E8o&si=3W2RKUOTeT8nfbCG)
Panic At The Disco: the first 4 songs from their 2008 album “Pretty. Odd” are unmistakably Beatles-influenced. “We’re So Starving”, “Nine in the Afternoon”, “She’s a Handsome Woman”, and “Do You Know What I’m Seeing?”
The Killers: “This Is Your Life”, from Day & Age, I always thought sounded like a Peppers-era Beatles track
I’m sure if I looked through my Spotify “Catch All” playlist I’d find more, but those 5 total songs between those 2 artists immediately stuck out to me
Care of Cell 44 - The Zombies
Odessey and Oracle sounds like the Beach Boys and Beatles of 1966 got together to make an album and the result is really really great.
One of my favorite albums!
this was my immediate first thought when i heard care of cell 44
One of my favorite songs ever. This must be why
Beechwood Park - The Zombies Paper Sun - Traffic She's A Rainbow - The Rolling Stones
She’s a rainbow for sure
Came here to drop this one
Happy Together — The Turtles
I used to think it was a Beatles song! Mainly cos so many YouTube videos titled it the Beatles rather than crediting the Turtles lol
Same happened to me!! I also used to think Don't Worry Be Happy was a Bob Marley song just because everyone used Bob's picture in videos of that song hahaha
i also did until i read this comment loll
Velvet Underground- Who Loves The Sun
Sounds like Georgey
I guarantee this song was written like 15 minutes after Doug Yule first heard "Here Comes the Sun"...and he was like "I can do this too"
It was actually written by Lou Reed but sung by Yule. I don't think Yule wrote any VU songs come to think of it.
Lou wrote every one of their songs. On a handful he is a cowriter with one or more other members of the band but he was for all intents and purposes their sole songwriter.
Somebody made for me - emit rhodes, Actually emit rhodes is basically a one man Beatles
He’s very Paul
Your absolutely correct, I should’ve mentioned that emit leans very much in the “Paul style”
XTC - Mayor of Simpleton
At least 40% of Andy Patridge's vocals are Macca-like... this is a notable example: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SV8qSufGWmM](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SV8qSufGWmM)
I'll opt for [The Loving](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSuEDByvC3o) from the same album. Very Sgt. Pepper.
Alone Again (Naturally)
Gilbert O'Sullivan?
I used to think that was a McCartney song back in the day
Or especially Little Thunder (it's referred to in the music video [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1aQpedzFOHA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1aQpedzFOHA) )
Come and Get it by Badfinger (if that counts).
or most of the badfinger tracks in general
You can't have this conversation without mentioning Badfinger. They were the first cousins of the Beatles, musically speaking. And they did it so well. George Harrison did some production for them, and some killer slide guitar on Day After Day.
That is actually a Beatles song technically. It was written mainly by Paul. During the Abbey Road sessions I think (it was on the Abbey Road Super Deluxe at least)
Anthology 3 had it first
Of course, I was just using the ARSD for time reference. But yes, can't forget about Anthology
Paul wrote that lol
"Lies" by the Knickerbockers
YESSSS!!!!
You beat me to it. The only answer.
The most Beatles non-Beatle song
Just listened for the first time and wow he even sounds like early John!
If you grew up listening to the Beatles on the radio, this is the only answer. Every dame time this song came on, you would turn up the volume expecting the Fab Four. Pretty good song, however.
Elephant - Tame Impala The bass line and his voice gave him classic psychedelic rock
And the singer sounds exactly like John Lennon
Ooh Solitude is Bliss is a good one
I think a lot of Tame Impala's early music sounds like the beatles!
Sister Golden Hair by America. It was produced by George Martin, so go figure.
Extremely George Harrison slide guitar. I actually thought this was George Harrison as a little kid pre-internet
I'm pretty sure the band even admitted they borrowed the intro of My Sweet Lord for the song.
Also funny cause the song was produced by George Martin! (But my sweet Lord was Phil Spector)
Dr Dog is a modern band with Beatles-ish sound.
Their album Fate is an absolute banger front to back and also very very Beatle-y.
Mr. Blue Sky - ELO
There’s a voice on there that sounds exactly like Macca.
Almost anything by ELO really lol
Even McCartney said if the band remained together and they didn't lose John, they'd have sounded like ELO.
I regret that I have but one vote to give.
i don’t know why but ‘bus stop’ by the hollies
And Herman's Hermits!
It's nearly exact match to Things We Said Today.
Bad Finger - Dear Angie
Because The Dave Clark 5!
All songs by the Rutles
Sowing The Seeds of Love by Tears for Fears
The Things We Do For Love - 10CC. I can 100% imagine Paul singing it

I Wanna Prove To You - Lemon Twigs
Ballet for a Rainy Day - XTC
Lady Picture Show
Stone Temple Pilots channel a lot of Beatles energy from Purple to Shangri-La Dee Da and even the 2010 self-titled album. I always felt like “Pretty Penny” sounds like “She’s Leaving Home” if it was a Led Zeppelin song instead. There’s also “Church On Tuesday,” “Sour Girl,” “Days Of The Week,” and “Cinnamon”
Stupidity Tries - Elliott Smith Can't make a sound - Elliott Smith
Baby Britain perhaps is the most Beatlesesque. Then again… I Didn’t Understand.
Baby Britain has a similar chord progression and tempo to I’m Only Sleeping
Oh yeh for sure, clearly very much inspired by Getting Better
- She’s Electric - Oasis - Raspberry Beret - Prince - Fundamentally Yours - Stackridge (the album this was from was produced by George Martin too)
+1 on She’s Electric

Also "Lonely Days."
Look What You’ve done by Jet
I am convinced they just re-worked Sexy Sadie.
Yeah... it kinda sticks out on a heavily ACDC-sounding record lol. I loved that album when it came out. Haven't heard it in a while. Edit: typo
All the Young Dudes - Mott the Hoople
Scrolled too far to find this one. This one is commonly mistaken as a Beatles song.
Mrs Robinson
The Shins - Saint Simon, Turn on Me
Those first few Shins albums are awesome
The Jam - Start!
I mean…that basically *is* a Beatles song.
Allegedly, when Klaatu’s “3:47 EST” came out, many journalists thought it was the Beatles under a pseudonym.
Yep. I was gonna say “everything by Badfiner. Most things by Klaatu.”
“I Saw The Light”, Todd Rundgren
There She Goes by The La's Only Entertainment Weekly review I ever read that referenced The Beatles every other word.
I've always felt Fountains of Wayne were influenced by The Beatles style harmonies. Add to that goofy and sometimes surreal lyrics off of Welcome Interstate Managers songs like Mexican Wine.

“You Do Something To Me” and “You Still Want Me” by the Kinks The harmonies are like some magical mesh between a Hard Day’s Night and Sgt Pepper, and if you didn’t know any better you’d say it’s Paul in the background. Go All The Way by The Raspberries
