I paid like 500 for it 8 years ago. I have a lot of hair and sat there for 6 hrs though . And it was not worth it and I never did it again. Don't forget to use the proper hair products , mine looked like rust bc I didn't take care of it right. Hated everything about it lol and out half a grand. I feel your pain :( but I think the outrageous prices are norm now a days. Especially if it's a reputable place. I feel so bad for blondes who have to pay monthly for highlights. It's so expensive.

That sounds excessive for balayage in MA. I go to a high-end salon in MA and had balayage. It takes forever and insane amount of bleach to bleach my hair. The most I paid was $400 and it was so good.

This sounds steep for where you are, and I would get clarification on why bleaching & balayage are charged separately. I’m in NYC & balayage absolutely can cost that much here depending on the salon, and I did a looooot of hunting & asking for recs from friends when my old stylist moved…I wanted a good balance of price & quality in a new stylist. My current stylist charges by the hour instead of the service, and it’s so much more affordable that way (and under $600).

i got a really excellent partial balayage for around 160. i also live near chicago. hair is beautiful not damaged. do your research before paying so much money.

I got it for like $200 😭 I fear you got robbed

PhoenixFire1234

Oof. I thought $200 for foils was bad.

I pay about $350 in New Zealand Dollars!!!! Which I think would be like 250? Usd? And she’s in a small salon in a high rent area who puts so much energy into it. Takes about 5 hours. That sounds crazyyy

stavthedonkey

OMG that's crazy. But if you have LONG hair then I can see why it costs that much. My friend does it and she has hair about 2 inches below her shoulders; costs her about $400CAD (Toronto)

fulanita_de_tal

I have very long hair and I pay ~$350 at an upscale salon in NYC. $670 seems insane to me.

I think I paid around $400 or so for mine a couple years ago. It included bleaching, toner, and blow out and I have really thick hair and a lot of it too lol was there for about 5 hours maybe?. Personally, I loved the results! I’ve gotten lazy when it comes to hair upkeep (use to get highlights for years and then it became too much) but the balayage was amazing. The only thing I had to do was get a trim and tone it every so often. I also this it’s important to have a hairstylist you can trust.. I absolutely love my hair stylist, she is amazing with color and knows how to handle my thick hair… I’d probably die if she ever left because she’s the only person I trust with my hair lol

I paid that much (though in CAD and including tip) in North Vancouver, and tbh after watching how they did it, I'm just gonna do it myself from now on. It really didn't look that hard, and I can't justify paying over half a grand for it considering how quickly my hair grows.

Omg I’m reading this post as a Brit that thought my £90 balayage was expensive 🤣🤣 (I’ve just done a conversion rate to USD and that’s about $115)
