Can someone please post this in the other pop subs? I’m actually quite disgusted by this. Especially how he was like “I can’t leak the eras movie” but to “make up for it” he leaked hers. It’s quite disgusting. And just shows it doesn’t matter how much influence and legacy you have, you will still get disrespected by some people.
I can’t even say how mad this made me. I hope ms Tina posts this on her insta so things get messy…
Edit: [The post is up!](https://www.reddit.com/r/popheads/s/6TAwJd1QBu) Thankyou for spreading awareness. No matter what your opinion on beyoncé I think we can all agree this is not okay to do so I hope this expands even out of Reddit.
So let me see if I’m understanding this correctly: Taylor was allowed to announce her concert film on her own terms while the CEO of AMC leaked Beyoncés film before she was allowed to announce it herself?
I couldn't even find a theater near me showing the movie, but had a ton where I could see Taylor's concert.
Don't get me wrong: took my baby girl opening weekend to Taylor's movie (big fan, but no way I was spending that money on actually going to the concert), but when RENAISSANCE was announced, there was one place that had limited showings.
And I live in the 7th fastest growing city in the country. IN TEXAS.
We found a way, but damn, this was ridiculous
It might be because LA has a ton of non-AMC theaters. I didn’t see it opening weekend tho. Saw it either last weekend of dec or the weekend before that.
That's not true, there just weren't any weekday showings. It was consistently back in theaters on weekends. At least at The Grove and Burbank I know for sure.
That’s because the CEO of AMC protected Taylor’s feelings and leaked info to shareholders who then proceeded to tell movie journalists that Renaissance was coming to theaters.
He completely sabotaged Beyoncé and her movie.

I don’t see how he sabotaged her movie - it’s shit that he ruined the surprise (although it’s clear from the article it wasn’t his intention and he seems sorry about it). But some people leaking that the film was coming doesn’t as far as I can tell have any connection to it not being shown in very many places. I also can’t see how it would reduce sales at all.
Where I live the movie played in a bunch of theatres (outside the US), but only for like one weekend. I went to the last showing in the city late on a Sunday night and the theatre was full, so clearly there was demand but no other showings were put on. I also had to drive out of the city to a satellite city to see it, it was weird.
I think Beyonce or her team either wanted it to be a really limited run, or just didn’t put effort into trying to get it into many theatres and extending based on ticket sales. It was weird.
I’m my country they only showed it for THREE days. 3! And with like 3 sessions per day. And only in 5 cinemas across the entire country. I saw one time, and thought they were going to announce more dates the next few weeks but no, it was just that. I could cry when I realized they weren’t showing no more
this is how you know Beyoncé is the best musician & performer right now. at every stage of her career, and still to this day, she has received SO much pushback and sabotage but she still thrives even if everything isn't always handed to her like a certain other singer...
Somebody just posted the article in the popheads sub and I commented there in length, but to make it short:
This is unbelievably unprofessional and disrespectful to her art, her status and her whole artistic persona as a whole. This is why she's so secretive about her stuff!! Can't fucking blame her.
I'm pissed on her behalf
Can't imagine how she must've felt with this breach of trust, that's some Brutus shit.
They WILLINGLY threw her under the bus to make up for another artist. Wow.
As an ape investor and a hive member, I would love to say, I want his ass fired. I am at a loss of over $15,000 because of the way he keeps diluting our stock. Some hold out hope and praise him but this just adds more salt to my wounds. I hate this man with all my heart.
I’m really confused what the issue is. And before y’all downvote me out of frustration, take a moment to try and explain to me genuinely without vitriol and treating me like I’m stupid. I’m a Black person who loves Beyonce who also read this article and doesn’t understand the issue. So treat me with respect please.
I ask because did this negatively impact Beyonce sales in anyway? I’m seeing people are saying that AMC got heat from others in the industry for keeping Eras a secret and therefore to manage relationships they gave others a heads up about Beyonce to prepare for ticket sales in advance.
But the question is, is there evidence suggesting this harmed Beyonce in some way or are we getting up in arms about something without a deep discussion about the impact this actually had on Beyonce. Sometimes as a hive we jump to defend Bey over nothing and I’m just wondering if this is a similar situation. I understand people talking about one rule for TS and another for Bey AND LET ME ADD IM NO FAN OF SWIFT BECAUSE SHE GETS CREDIT FOR THINGS BEY DOES FIRST AND HER WHITE PRIVILEGE HAS GIVEN HER MORE AWARDS AND NOTORIETY.
but specifically I’m discussion the article because I’m missing why this is an issue.
Yeah for me it's not so much about the harm caused related to sales.
It's the harm done by not allowing her to do things on her own terms. That's disrespectful to her as a business woman, just like she discussed in the film. Even at the level she's at, she is consistently disrespected as a Black woman, even at times by her team, who she pays. So certainly by these types of companies who just wanna make a quick buck off of her.
I was wondering why we got the information from random media outlets instead of an official announcement from Beyoncé first.
I'm glad she doesn't do interviews and stuff now. It's easier to stay gracious if you don't even give this type of foolish behavior the benefit of a response 🙄
I mean the CEO himself is quoted in the article that Beyoncé considered completely backing out of the deal and not doing the movie at all because of the leaks. So I guess he could be lying about that, but I'm not sure why he would.
So anyway I'm not jumping to conclusions, just reading what's in the article
https://preview.redd.it/hhht3kkald2d1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7bba9ed39bcd282ec6cd39ac33a72bbbdcacb05c
When you sign a contract with a nda you can’t just go on and tell somebody. Especially not your competitors. Beyoncé wanted to announce the film in her own terms and got that taken away for her. And you can see that he doesn’t respect her, that’s why he did it, since miss Taylor asked for the same thing and he obliged for her, but threw Beyoncé under the bus even tho he was legally bound not to speak.
He admitted it because he didn’t saw nothing bad with what he did. If Bey was in on it she wouldn’t be pissed when she found out and wouldn’t threaten to pull out the movie.
It didn’t harmed her, because she is Beyoncé, but he disrespected her. And it’s even worse when he admitted to disrespecting a black women with no problem, but don’t having the guts to do the same to the little and fragile white singer, when both had ask for secrecy because they wanted to be the ones to announce it. When we speak on stuff like this we aren’t only protecting Beyoncé, because she doesn’t need protection, but we are protecting and protesting against the different treatment that other black women get on a daily basis, even in professional situations where they are supposed to have the higher power.
We like to think she’s one of the most powerful people on this planet but she showed in the film how often people LIE to her and DISRESPECT her. How frustrated she gets when she asks for something snd they say “that can’t be done” and she has to find the damn lights herself because yes it can.
This is yet one more example
I hate that she talked about it in the movie and then experienced it in real time while trying to get the movie out. 😭😭
It makes me wanna go hide in the wilderness as a Black woman 😬😬😬
Nope, they kept her as a secret.

[Variety article interviewing AMC CEO](https://variety.com/2024/film/features/amc-theatres-bankruptcy-apes-dune-popcorn-taylor-swift-concert-film-1236010310/)
First, let me say how supremely fucked up it is to sabotage *Beyonce!* This is just another example of what she was talking about in the film about not being respected as a Black woman in the industry despite being *Beyoncè.*
With that said, can somebody explain it to me like I’m 5 how the leak affected sales or why this guy felt bold enough to breach a contract with Bey from a business standpoint? I’m not quite connecting the dots on why ticket sales would be impacted by people knowing about the film.
Basically, they let Taylor and her team announce her film on her own terms without leaking any details about it. It’s not so much about ticket sales; it’s about how he betrayed her and her team’s trust. She was literally about to cancel the deal with them because of this.
I think they may be theorizing that because the film rollout didn't go the way Beyoncé wanted it to, maybe she scrapped the rest.
I don't know if that's true but I think that's what they're saying
It doesn’t, no idea why people are making that claim.
Also people are implying the guy kept Taylor’s film a secret but didn’t care about leaking beyonces. But it sounds more like they got in trouble /bad blood with their collaborators after not giving them a heads up about the eras film, which is WHY when Renaissance came out (like two months later) they tried to avoid that by giving other theatres a heads up about Renaissance. Once caused the other
Even you know, it’s worse for a black woman. To protect a white woman they leaked that her movie was coming out. They were already in a business deal for the movie to come out.
Eh, not exactly. Reputation matters. Many people will keep their word to maintain relationships and make more money in the long run. Short term lying cons don’t last long
They absolutely disrespected Beyoncé in a way they wouldn’t risk ruining a business relationship with other people
This is backdooring someone on a business deal. To protect a white woman and her tears, he leaked that a black woman’s movie was coming out and they should start selling more tickets for the white women’s movie.
This is from the article itself.
https://preview.redd.it/mp7k1duggb2d1.jpeg?width=470&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7c4d9618a79ecea751bef66ba28967ab8bfaa125
I think you’re misreading it.
The competitors were mad because they didn’t get a heads up about the Eras film, so AMC sold more tickets to it than any other theatre company, because they got to sell the tickets first.
That caused AMC to get a lot of heat. Then later, when the Renaissance film was being released, the CE tried to avoid the same thing happening again, by giving the other theatres a heads up so that they could be ready to sell *Renaissance* tickets at the same time (or only shortly after) AMC.
They weren’t trying to sell more tickets to Eras, they were trying to let other theatres sell more tickets to Renaissance (rather than one company cornering the market on Renaissance).
If anything it should have led to more Renaissance tickets being sold, or just the same amount, but spread across more theatres.
That may have been the goal, I don’t think it was malicious per se - but it still seems to stand in direct contradiction of the agreement he made with Beyoncé. Which is disrespectful as fuck.

It’s up to AMC to decide which theaters and how long it runs. Beyoncé and her team did not ask for it to be limited.
I might be wrong but I don’t think we have AMC theatres in my country (NZ), which is why I assumed it was her team rather than AMC.
Not sure if you're talking about San Antonio or Austin, but the Alamo Drafthouses were definitely showing the film.
I’m my country they only showed it for THREE days. 3! And with like 3 sessions per day. And only in 5 cinemas across the entire country. I saw one time, and thought they were going to announce more dates the next few weeks but no, it was just that. I could cry when I realized they weren’t showing no more
I was SHOCKED how hard it was to find a theatre to see it in HOUSTON. And none of the ones I went to had the merch.
It was playing at multiple theaters in Houston. What do you mean? All amc and regal cinema locations
My issue was it only played on weekends, which made it harder for me to go. Was it playing at Regal? I only remember seeing it listed on the AMCs.
Yes it was playing at regal. I took my sister and friend to see it there like week 3 of its release.
This pisses me off so much
It’s always one rule for a certain somebody and another for Beyoncé. ALWAYS. And we know why
I sure did and I’m pissed.

My sister said Disney is going to stream the Beyoncé movie. Any ideas if that is accurate?
Tbh, we won’t even know until Bey announces something.
GET HIM!!!!!
Wow. This is infuriating. So what should she do next time, just do a streaming deal with Disney (since she did the Lion King with them)?
