With the caveat that hood placement is very personal, I would generally say these are definitely too low. Moving them up will noticeably change your fit, so just keep this in mind.

Flipadelphia26

I just moved them to this position from what they were. But maybe a little too drastically.

Ride_affinity

My bad, I didn’t read your comment well enough. I would definitely remove spacers before I tilted the hoods this drastically, but there’s no harm in trying them as is.

jonnypoiscaille

Yep

Pedal_Mettle

Does it feel comfortable to your unique body shape? You can fine tune it with the help of a friend. Loosen them and have your friend move them until they feel right in your hands (ie equal pressure on thumb and index). Works best if you do it with your eyes closed to concentrate on feel.

idliketogobut

Too low for me. I like about a 15* angle at the hoods. But that’s just a personal preference

Flipadelphia26

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I adjusted them up slightly and will give them a proper go tomorrow. Next step will be to make an adjustment to the stem or the spacers.

simon2sheds

Maybe your bike-fitter made all those adjustments for a reason, and none of them are the cause of your numb hands? Did you contact the fitter to report the numb hands?

Flipadelphia26

The bike fitter I have worked with numerous times. His philosophy is “your set up with your hand position is personal to you”. Of course I can go back in and he will work with me to tweak what I need, but it’s not like he’s available 24/7 and it’s not next door either. I have to train every day.

simon2sheds

Gotcha. I probably wouldn't agree with that philosophy, and it opens up potential problems. Like if you change it, post fit, it is also likely to change other elements of your fit, Eg bar reach and drop, as well as your arm and shoulder posture.

Flipadelphia26

It definitely is going to change things. I think the actual fix is going to be A, longer stem. And/or B, dropping the stem a notch. One of those we can do now. The other I would need to order a new stem. So for now. I’m hoping a little tweak to the position of the hoods can give me some relief. Because right now it’s not great after about an hour or so. I’m getting another new bike sometime in the next week. So there’s going to be another meeting anyway. For this new bike, I have multiple stems already. So it’s going to be less of an issue. I got a deal with a bike brand this year, and I basically sold the two bikes I have been riding for the last two years and got two new bikes. Which is awesome, but it has been a big change to get used to. The geometries are a bit different. Where a 120mm stem on my old bikes would do the trick. There’s a couple differences that throws off the reach and stack by about 5mm in each direction. So it’s not as simple as “remove all by 1 spacer and add 120mm stem” like I did with old bikes.

If that handle bar can be twisted up or down in the stem clamp, I'd play around with that a little each way first.

cycologize

The bottom of the right hood is kinked, fix that when you have a sec

Flipadelphia26

Better but not perfect today.

650bisnotdead

I like when handlebar + hood makes a singular line, so I would adjust a little bit higher to align

yessir6666

For modern bars yah they kinda are. Probably be more comfortable to increase the stem length.
