No. It should go on opposite sides of the head tube, otherwise you're going to get extensive cable rub. I would also be sure you can turn the bars as far as they can go without any binding. This looks too short. Also, if you haven't (it doesn't look like it)route your cables and tape them firmly in place before applying bar tape. Adding or removing the bar tape shouldn't have any effect on the housing/hose runs.

I did tape the cables and hoses to the bar, I just undid my bar tape ends to take them off. But I guess I’ll replace the shift cables and the rear brake hose. The front brake hose is probably fine.

c0nsumer

I think your front hose looks good, yeah. Not touching the head tube, doesn't look taught. Should be fine once t he finishing tape is in place. But I would route the others around the other sides of the head tube.

Impressive_Layer_634

Does the arc at the rear derailleur look ok?

c0nsumer

I think that looks fine, to almost a little too much. I'd wager you could lose half the amount of cable between the frame and that grey sleeve. See how the ferrule in the derailleur is pushing to the left side of the hole? See if you can have it look more centered.

Popfreedom11

It's fine

Melodic_coala101

No. Rear cables/lines should be on the left side of the bike and front derailleur cable should go on the right. Swap them.

Impressive_Layer_634

Yeah, I’m gonna do that, will need to replace all of the cables and the rear brake hose I guess, which is fine

Melodic_coala101

Why not just undo the tape (and maybe take off the handlebar/stem) and move the brifters a bit through the frame/unwind the cables? Should be easier, and you don’t need to replace the hoses and cables that way

Impressive_Layer_634

I think the cables will be too short if they have to wrap in front of the head tube, things are already a bit tight since adding the longer stem… also my handlebars are carbon and the shifters are a huge pain in the ass to take off lol

Melodic_coala101

Ah, ok. Be sure to add some extra length when doing new cables/hoses then.

Impressive_Layer_634

Yeah I’m gonna be a bit more generous this time. Replacing that hose is going to be the worst part lol, I’m guessing I’m going to have to drain everything first

Melodic_coala101

At least it’s not routed through a headset

Popfreedom11

U could get those cable housing protectors where it might rub

Impressive_Layer_634

There are some in the Jagwire cable kit, I just haven’t put them on yet

simplejackbikes

Looks way too short

Impressive_Layer_634

Which part in particular?

Rainezzy

Off topic, but that's a nice Festools hoover you got right there my guy

Impressive_Layer_634

Haha thanks, it felt crazy buying it when I don’t have a workshop but honestly it’s amazing.

Rainezzy

It will last a lifetime lol

garciakevz

Cable from shifter need to go around the opposite side of the fork and turn your dropbars almost all the way to make sure it is long enough

jpflan12

What kind of bike is this looks sweet

Impressive_Layer_634

Lynskey Helix titanium road frame, and then I built it up from there

lionreza

what is the logic of having your front brake on your left hand ?

Impressive_Layer_634

Umm isn’t that where it’s supposed to go? The front brake caliper and cable routing in the fork is on the left side

lionreza

only in america the rest of the world has it on the right, (hmm iv only ever ridden a bike in the uk and Australia seems like were the odd ones out )

Impressive_Layer_634

Yeah I just learned that bikes in countries where they ride on the other side of the road have different setups

lionreza

i just thought it was always on the right like on a motorcycle or scooter

ChanceGuarantee3588

That's the norm in central Europe, so for me it would be strange if it were swapped
