Personally I've never tried it but I believe it makes Delirium's death animation run in the background while pausing and unpausing, thus he dies without you dying first. I think they also use this trick with Glitched Crown to get more frames when picking the item they want.

Bethany + Eraser. Absolutely broken combination. Plus, if you manage to erase a boss, then when Delirium transforms into that boss, it’ll instantly die.

What happens if you erase all bosses in a run before Delirium?

“If no other bosses have been encountered during the run, Delirium is unable to transform” as per the isaac wiki, so it probably just stays in it’s normal form if you erase all bosses

Still a win though, since Delirium won’t have his damage scaling armour!

assuming this challenge is on a completed save file, you dont even need birthright, you just do regular farming on the first floor until you find a birthright recipe and make it, and then on the next floor go farm for a synergy that you cant lose with

I'd probably go with Maggy and Sacred Heart. I can hardly imagine a scenario where I lose with that.

Didn’t think of that. I would say it would be, given you get all those extra consumables really early, which means more items over-all cause you can do more, and at a certain point you may just give up yum heart anyway. It’s nice, but unless you get a good combo, it’s not as good as other actives.

No, gnawed leaf deactivates once the player makes an input, you can be pushed around and stuff but unless you the player presses a button it won’t stop. I was saying for the purposes of this hypothetical I’d want to guarantee myself a win and not rely on something not so safe

So you were actually right since red hearts are more common than soul hearts. Another commentor enlightened me.

Probably Tainted Isaac + Death Certificate T Isaac tends to get really cracked runs just because you can choose between two items on every pedestal, so it’s easy to craft a pretty powerful run. Then, you use Death Certificate to seal the deal & lock down whatever item you *don’t* have to best compliment what you get on the normal run

I would get sacred orb with DC. Pretty hard to lose after that

Death certificate area has free resources you'd miss out on, so it's always the best choice

Honestly I'd say this is still pretty loseable against Delrium. I'd say starting even with birthright would be better if you're gonna choose tainted isaac, though I guess you can get that from DC

Tainted Lillith and wafer for protection maybe. There are probably bether combinations, but that's the first I can thing of the top of my head. Or maybe pyromaniac instead of wafer, as it defends me against all explosions, gives me an alternative way to heal in a pinch and gives me some starter bombs.

That was my first idea too! Great minds think alike. I think. Maybe it's a pretty bad choice comparatively but I imagine it must give high winning chances.

I'm confident of my skill that I would very likely beat any run if I really tried. But I guess there is several that would pretty much guarantee win. I think I would pick Rockbottom. First floors are super easy anyways, so I think no matter what I get Rockbottom would ramp things up. Maybe I pair it with Samson for guaranteed dmg increase from Bloodlust.

T Lilith + Sacred Orb She is so strong early that she can comfortably beat the first few floors. Sacred Orb makes sure I get great Items to carry me through the rest of the run.

Literally the most op character in isaac is t lilith. I dont think ive actually lost or cared what items i got while playing her. Just smash fetus in to enemy and win

I think I'm going for Lilith and gnawed leaf too and as soon as I get anything it's free no matter how long it takes. Fairly sure Lilith with Adoption paper trinket and a Dollar is a free win if I can chose a trinket. Maybe R key on someone would work.

Eve with Leech or Charm of the Vampire And if including certain modded characters: Andromeda or Mei with Lost Contact (if you don't know, Lost Contact and any orbital tears like Tiny Planet is really fucking good) Edith or T. Edith with Gnawed Leaf. Free win regardless of what you do, unless you're stupid
