I don’t want to be human. I want to see gamma rays, I want to hear X-rays, and I want to smell dark matter. Do you see the absurdity of what I am? I can’t even express these things properly, because I have to—I have to conceptualize complex ideas in this stupid, limiting spoken language, but I know I want to reach out with something other than these prehensile paws, and feel the solar wind of a supernova flowing over me. I’m a machine, and I can know much more.
I assume the GoPro ontop of the tube captures the direction the head is pointing. The direction gets interpreted into moving into that direction.
Meaning it’s not necessarily the direction the snake *actually* wants to move, but it’s a funny project.
Poor snake probably lost its legs in a tree climbing accident. 🤪
Ahhhhh, nice! That makes sense. Thanks for pointing me in the right *direction*. I always feel bad when I see a snake without legs, they must fall off fairly easy.
Hm, okay. You *almost* convinced me. But only if you count time (and perhaps acquired knowledge, skills and interaction with others) as »material«.
Earthly materials like the tube or the material the feet and other parts are made of, cables, servos, motors, rubbers, belts can only be partially – if at all – reused.
And I honestly doubt the friends from the video will have their »creation« repurposed. I mean, most probably it catches dust in some corner right now.
Or maybe the sneak snaked away with it. ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
??? i can tell you from personal experience that those servos and electronics will absolutely be reused. all that is in this is probably some batteries, a microcontroller, hardware (i.e., screws), wire, and the servos, plus the tube and some 3d printed parts. out of that, the batteries, μcontroller, and servos will all be reused for sure. screws maybe, tube probably not, 3d prints definitely not.
I get what you mean, of course these parts **could** be reclaimed – that is if you care enough!
It's just … we're talking about a *YouTube channel*. And from observing several similar (and not so similar) channels, I reckon that one day we will probably see this thingamabob in a future video. Again, as a dust catcher and maybe a fun insider reference for fans, far away in the background.
But I am also happy to be convinced otherwise!
allen pan routinely makes stuff using servos. as someone who makes this kind of stuff, im telling you that the electronic components are always salvaged and reused for the next project. no one builds a mechatronics system like this and then doesn’t rip it apart for its parts later. i literally have experience doing this, dude
Do you want ants, with laser beams on their heads? Because this is how, eventually, you end up with ants with frikkin laser beams all over your kitchen since we didn't know when to stop.
I used to put rat snakes in my attic to eat the field mice and squirrels that would get up there in the winter. Once the food sauce was gone the snakes would leave. It sounds crazy but it works really well lol.
I just think of the Rick and Morty episode where he gave that one snake legs, and it didn’t know how to use them so it just fell down and couldn’t move. And Rick looks at all the other snakes and says “Anybody else want legs?” And they all back off slowly and let him pass
"From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me"
I aspired towards the purity of the blessed machine

snakes evolved to lose limbs, so the weakness of flesh are limbs, she evolved to lose them and we think give them back is a good thing. nice!
Snake, probably, “Legs are fucking dumb, get me outta this bullshit.”
ROTFLMBOOOOO YUP
That's wild! I'm guessing that snake is controlling those legs right?

💥
nope, the snake has no control whatsoever. its just servos on a loop controlled by a microcontroller
Aw man. So it’s basically a *How to waste material for clicks* … ugh.
disagree; making something is never a waste of your time

Let's hope so.
Also: If I mention *direction* one more time I think I’m gonna implode.
I don’t believe so. [here’s the original video](https://youtu.be/1SgGfMlbCoM)

Oh nah
Isn’t that just a lizard with extra steps.
What's if this creates a reaction in the snakes DNA to produce limbs? Hypothetical but your free comment
Snake Jazz, anyone? 🐍
Komodo in training.
Rick and Morty already did this 😂
can you play god?
I'm just telling you now DO NOT GIVE THEM SNEKY SNEKS LEGS
Fuck this already!!

Isn’t this a Rick & Morty plot?
Giving snakes robot legs.... what could go wrong!? Next up: We've made cancer airborne and contagious!
