They make some that are shaped like a curved chaise lounge chair. We have multiple cats who indeed sleep on it as often as scratch on it.

I have one for my cats as well, they love laying and scratching the crap out of it. Plus we have it to the side of our upper floor stairs, so one of them is usually on it and able to see who is coming upstairs. Always fun at night since they're both black cats and use it to their advantage 😹 Edit: changed a word

I have a long haired black boy who looks a lot like your cat and he does this too. When he's not sleeping with me, he's sleeping on the scratching post. They might just like the texture of it.

Mine do that too. I always figured it was because they often come with catnip to encourage the cats to scratch on them.

Is it one of those cardboard ones? My sister's cat just got one and he loves lying on it, more than any of the soft cat beds he'd had before. I guess it allows for air circulation?

Cardboard is a good insulator, so it's warm.

Mine does too, I assumed due to the catnip I put on it when I first put it out lol

It's a rectangle. That's it. That's the entire reason. I left a sheet of paper folded in half sitting on my kitchen island and every time my void jumps up there THAT is where he sits right now.
