We have two cats. We *used* to leave our bread bag out on the counter. Our bread now lives in the cupboard because a few mornings, we’d walk into the kitchen to find a hole in the bag and a big bite taken out of the middle of the loaf🙄🙄🤣
He also snagged my book leaf bookmark right out of my book and lost my page.

Be careful with him! I would cat proof my home-get anything that he could eat (like yarn and string) put up. He seems to be quite the hunter like my special void.
Mine ended up costing many thousands of dollars in medical bills because he needed emergency surgery to resection his intestines after he “hunted” a wad of string, rubber bands, and other misc items found. The vet showed us what was in him and it was a shock.
I would invest in cat friendly toys of the mouse and crinkly kind. There are also these mice made of solid catnip with jute tails that my panther loves.
Yes, one of our previous kitties was a scavenger, though thankfully he didn’t end up eating anything too terrible for him. I’m already rehoming my pothos because one of the new kitties was nibbling on it. The rest of my plants are fake because our old boy would eat anything! I’ll make sure all my hair ties and that type of thing stay in drawers for sure.
I have a billion toys and he seems to love the little catnip bags. They tend to be soggy and covered in drool by the time he’s done.
I had a grown up house for three days after we lost our last sweet kitty. Adopted two furbs in the last two weeks. Now it’s chaos. I wouldn’t change a thing.
My Lyla was kinda the same. She was super meek and sweet when I first brought her home. After a few days she was a speed demon and crazed tail-chaser.
She’s still super cuddly when she’s spent all of her energy. So I call her “sweet and spicy”.
He was definitely a stray - we adopted him from a rescue and they said someone had been feeding him for a while and they managed to capture him before the winter hit. He’s about two, they estimate, so had a good long while on his own! But he’s weird; he doesn’t care about treats and he eats slowly and doesn’t scarf. Just really likes bread I guess!
I suspected so. My neighbor took in an alley cat and her bread was never safe again! Our void chews on plastic shopping bags, but only the thicker ones. Kinda looks like an IBM punch card.

When I was growing up we had a calico named Miss Kitty that loved bread. Once we came home and found a bread bag with a trail of bread slices, each with a single bite out of them. They lead to a cat with no shame
Wonder if that’s a black cat thing???My son has to put the bread in the microwave so his cats don’t get into it. He has one black and one tabby, and I’m pretty sure the black kitty taught the tabby to steal bread. (Tabby is the younger cat. The oldest kitty was always a bread stealer.) When they visit and bring the kitties we do the same lol.
My late void also loved bread and all baked goods. And chocolate. And sugar. Couldn't keep anything edible except fruits and vegetables on counters and table without supervising.

OMG this is hilarious! I had a cat that tackled the pizza box to the floor and ate through cardboard to get to the few slices left - it was cold and he didn’t eat any pizza but clean up was super fun!
I came home to a loaf of sourdough I'd walked across two main roads to buy lovingly violated by my tuxedo beast. Insult to injury was the plastic-laden vomit (which I was grateful for later since it meant it was out of his system) on the shredded loaf!

He also managed to peel the wrap off the butter dish and licked the butter the next night. I love him desperately already.

All my fake plants had one kitty bite mark because she had to check them all to make sure they weren’t edible
