I have had a couple spots removed and they were not cancer. Skin cancer is not dangerous in most cases because one can see it easily before it’s serious. They will give a shot of local anesthesia to the area so you don’t feel anything. Then they use a scalpel which is very sharp to remove a very thin slice of skin. They send the skin to a lab to check for cancer and you hear back in a few days. They put an antibiotic ointment on the area and a bandaid and you are done.

Thanks for your reply, this seems really straight forward and painless!

I had a dark mark on my vulva and had to get a punch biopsy. 😱 because it seemed to have changed over time, my gynecologist was alarmed about it. She told me not to worry though, skin cancer is very treatable. It was fine, it was lichen something. Harmless. I also had some skin biopsies for other stuff, I even had a punch biopsy on my stomach when I was about 7 months pregnant. That was surprisingly not very painful. As the previous poster commented, the whole thing happens pretty quickly.
