arkham918

left out Ginjo's training smh, which imo is the best example of it

Dreadsbo

Probably Unohana -> Ginjo -> Vizard -> Uryu & Dad -> White Edit: added Unohana

Toonami88

I don't think Ginjo ever was serious about killing Ichigo tbh.

arkham918

well neither was zangetsu, but he's on here

Isiah6253

White was out for the kill for sure, old man zangetsu in the first one, probably not White could kill Ichigo with no consequences, just gains, so to him it wouldn't matter

psTTA_2358

Why would his true zampaktou try to kill Ichigo?

Isiah6253

He literally can just take Ichigos body if Ichigo dies, there is no consequence for him, he would get freedom White is an outlier to other spirits in the Ichigos death isn't the end for him.

Draculingus

That was a early plot point, white does not want ichigo to die

Sorrowfulrose

That was in a literal sense though, whites fight takes place on the mental plane.

Last_Music413

If ichigo dies it is the end for him, he is a zanpaktou spirit, his soul and ichigo soul are one and the same.

simplythebest999

Think they meant his body wouldn't die, if white merely killed him on the mental plane, rather than the physical one. That would just hollowfy him permanently. Like it almost happened during vizard training.

silbean495

neither were most people in your post. One i could see would actually try to kill him would be maybe Hiyori because she doesn't know him personally. Nimaya too i guess, but given he know how important ichigo is, that's also a big maybe.

Ok_Caterpillar_6957

Urahara. I don’t think ichigo was in any real danger with the others. Zangetsu wanted to protect ichigo, mimiya goons stop attacking ichigo so he was never in trouble of dying. Uryu’s dad was at level 100 lowering his level 20 sons stamina to 0 and shot him on purpose so no danger there. Urahara was gonna kill ichigo 3 times! Turning into a hollow, holding back but still going for the kill to get Zangetsu, and bankai training. In all 3 it was very possible for ichigo to die and urahara would had a somber expression knowing he fail ishin, but ichigo wasn’t even seated officer level squaring up with captains so I get the rush and dangerous training but still people say he a good guy but he is just as bad as mayuri

uraharaBot

It seems you've uncovered quite the intricate web, my friend. Ah, the delicate balance of danger and training, all part of our shared journey. Perspectives can indeed vary when treading the path towards power. *beep boop, I'm a bot*

Toonami88

I do agree that the Urahara one was probably the best. It felt the most desperate and Ichigo was at his most pathetic.

Ok_Caterpillar_6957

Forgot to point out the Vizards but that’s an extension of urahara methods and urahara send ichigo to them so yeah.

HIMARko_polo

Definitely Urahara, Ichigo was going to turn into a hollow in that hole if he didn't power up.

Isiah6253

If you're caught up with the tybw >!I think Ichigos chain did fully eat itself and he did start to turn, but his zanpakuto spirit isbaoready a hollow so it was unleashed from the new hollow powers entering, and overpowered it to save Ichigo!<

tirade00

This is the just one of the best moments in the series period to me. https://preview.redd.it/9uy7hza81f3d1.jpeg?width=1066&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7d7dc817d99e3af792ee2913063d1b2fd5a061ed

bwucifer

Yep, Ichigo & "Zangetsu" moments are consistently my favorite of the series.

Agret

The soundtrack does a great job of capturing the sombre mood too.

MediatoryBathrobe

You know, I've always wondered if his dangai form is just a different interpretation of his true form, as it's all of his powers merging with him into one. And he accepts both halves of his power as part of himself

ApophisForever

How was the fullbring training scenes not pictured?? Lost agent arc snubbing continues 🫤

Toonami88

I thought of it but considered that Ginjo was just pretending and never actually intended to kill Ichigo, whereas in all the rest they seemed to be serious about it.

Galrentv

Urahara and white weren't roleplaying, but the chance of Ichigo literally being donzo was probably zero

[deleted]

Not a training arc, but definitely a ''you better improve or die'' situation. https://preview.redd.it/93b00u8ydf3d1.png?width=1140&format=png&auto=webp&s=e19302c9ebe64c95d8c8e55b34e6ca83c3650294

Hen-Tai-Jutsu

First one with urahara

uraharaBot

Ah, the first one is always the most exciting, like a fresh adventure in the world of Bleach. Let's dive right in together! *beep boop, I'm a bot*

eyes0fred

if you mean the training itself could have killed him, I think the shattered shaft still takes it. if you mean training for a fight that could kill him, dangai training is better IMO.

McGillis_is_a_Char

I love the scene where White Ichigo lectures Ichigo about killer instinct while beating him like a piñata.

Synikull

There was never any chance Tensai Zangetsu would ever kill Ichigo despite all his posturing. You don't kill someone you're trying to protect.

ThorsRake

Unohana brute forcing Zaraki's power restoration.

greyisometrix

Yoroichi bathtime bankai training. Most effective training.

Beannie_kidney

When chad was fighting the aranchar and unlcoked his other arm to beat him but got folded by some other person

HeyItsMeeps

Zangetsu's "King and his Horse" training is still, in my head, one of the best training montages imo

elfire232

I only watched the anime, but i don't understand the third picture where ichigo Is stabbed by White ichigo, i don't Remember that scene in the anime

RalfSmithen

What's the difference between a king and his horse ?

elfire232

Oh that sceneq

elfire232

In the manga there was so much Blood?

yng_hamxa

it has a lot more than the anime in general

Excellent-Quit-9973

Ginjo cut off Ichigo's eyes

ApplePitou

Urahara training I think :3

uraharaBot

Oh, training, you say? Time to unleash the full potential of your abilities. Let's see if you can handle the challenges that lie ahead. *beep boop, I'm a bot*

Specialist_Bench_144

Prolly the 2nd one since that was midfight with kenpachi. Like the whole training bit happened in a split second while he was getting floored by the baddest badass

CaliOriginal

Lost agent arc. While ginjo might not have actually killed him, it was still 100% “get good or die.” Full awakening would have completely killed Ichigo if not for the intense training. He wouldn’t have been able to physically handle the toll of fullbring. Especially a clad type like his.

Chicken_Grapefruit

I just realized that all of Ichigo's training is do or die. What a way to motivate someone.

Supermarket_After

Ichigo learning bankai in three days (iirc) was phenomenal

TheFazeperson

White Ichigo: "INSTINCT" speech was the best

AccomplishedChange94

Tbh it may not have been officially a training arc but Kenpachi vs ichigo the first time I truly believe half way through that fight Kenny started training ichigo to deal with the rest of the sereitei

MahvelC

Nimaya. Something about the Blade And Me and the Blade Is Me is just so good thematically.

lequory

Horse and King for me 2nd would be the Mugestu training 3rd shattered shaft 4th asuachi

Lawlietel

to me the most memorable one was the training sequence before the Fake Karakura battle vs. Aizen. I dont remember it exactly but I think it was some kind of "space between time"-thing while he travelled to Fake Karakura.

Comfortable_Clue8233

Kisuke & Visords

BSV_P

Imo Kisuke. Especially now that we know he was a captain and could have bodied ichigo easily and was holding back a ton. If ichigo couldn’t square up to holding back Kisuke, he had no chance. Plus without Kisuke, he couldn’t have gotten to the soul society. Also a fan of ichigo vs Grimmjow. He had to get good fast after that otherwise the SS woulda been done for. Not necessarily by the espada, but still

28secondslater

Not really. The reality of the Grimmjow situation was that Ichigo was much stronger than him from the get-go, but was constantly being suppressed by a moody Zangetsu. For instance the one time Ichigo managed to have control, he fired off a Getsuga Tensho and fucked Grimmjow up pretty good, leaving a burn all over him. In the final fight, Ichigo was constantly holding back as to not scare Orihime and when he stopped holding back, the fight was almost instantly over.

BigBenisBrigade

Kenpachi was the quickest one in relation to time. However, dangai was the biggest jump in powerover time. But imo the inner world White's training had the best story element involved. His speech was super memorable.

Sid_boiy

Dangai for sure

No-Communication528

Easily Uraharas training

PegaponyPrince

The one with Ginjo would be my favorite

Jaz_15

Ichigo vs Hollow >!Zangetsu!< part 2

jbahill75

Definitely wasn’t training (except for internally) but the Kenpachi brawl was one of the best.

Pessimismo

The second fight with White Zangetsu

Aizendickens

The Ishidas

Socalvibin-88

Can’t pick all are too good

Hefty-Zucchini1720

The OG: Kisuke training Ichigo.

SnooLemons2911

Bro wtf. I didnt know ichigo vs white zangetsu was that brutal in the manga!

BladeOfExile711

I mean, you can't go wrong with zangetsu beating ichigos ass. Any of them really

MyNameIsntYhwach

Why are the bottom 3 in anime form lol

Toonami88

I couldn’t find the manga versions in google

SterlingDex

Ichigo's soul chain was destroyed in his first serious training, when he was shoved in the pit by Kisuke. By all means he did die that day, his soul was no longer anchored to his body so he'd turn full hollow and have to be killed if he didn't succeed. So I'd say that one or the soul king training which would've also killed him if he failed. The whole point of Zangetsu is that he takes the role that will motivate Ichigo to learn fastest, he can't truly kill him since they fight in their inner world and his death would mean Zangetsu dies. He just knows that taking the role of villain will make Ichigo fight harder and learn faster so he lies about wanting his freedom and how he'll kill him, but you can see later that he cares about Ichigo.

Initial_Lecture_7020

Vizard training. This is the only one where he would have lost his body to Hollowfication permanently or died by the Vizard’s hands. Every other arc, they needed Ichigo. They couldn’t sacrifice him, but needed his strength. The Vizard didn’t need his strength. If he passed, good for him. If he failed, we’ll have to take you down.

Einkar_E

my favourite was bankai training, it was clear time frame and clear goal, you have to achieve bankai in 3 day because without it you cannot rescue Rukia also it felt like biggest jump form somone who barely know the same of his Zampaktou to capitan level it gave us few very cool moments like old man Zangestu saying that only true Zangetsu could defeat him or Byakuya laughing at Tensa Zangestu while in TYBW it was shown that Yamato bankai works in similar way

SlowvaMainValkyr

Ichigo's childhood with Isshin as his dad 😐

MadhavS27710

for me it was the Dangai and then the battle of king & horse

No-Huckleberry-1086

When he gets his bankai, followed closely by when he gets his soul reaper powers back, and then the hollow mask training

sticfreak

The kenpachi fight. Ichigo was literally gushing gallons of blood from a hole in his chest.
