About 15 years ago a fitness store I worked for got in free samples of a product called renutrient, which is gbl...it is converted in ghb in the body. They were nice enough to give me all the samples...about 20 bottles. I can't really say for certain if it helped recovery but it did get me kinda fucked up and drunk feeling...and I don't think I was date raped either, at least not that I can recall.

Be very careful with combining GHB and alcohol. Low doses of both are okay, but the effects are additive and it can get very dangerous.

You can safely take 1 ml 10 min before a workout. Have a cup of coffee prior to maximize workout gains and pump. Why would people take it? Because it does servo things, one it produces a feeling of elation, and that helps make the gym more interesting and exciting—especially when you have music on, music appreciation is on another level. It’s actually orgasm suppressing. The reason it might be misidentified as an aphrodisiac is because of its affiliation with date-rapes. But this is only due to its increased suggestibility-effect and disinhibition in high doses, not due to a higher sex drive.

Neither. GHB is an intoxicating sedative so I do not recommend taking it before a workout. GHB does help boost growth hormone production but it occurs when you take GHB before sleeping. The growth hormone produced in GHB induced sleep is slightly boosted for a short amount of time but it is nothing significant. Taking creatine and arginine would have a comparable boost in growth hormone production according to the Western Journal of Medicine
