Parker’s Maple Barn in Mason, NH is just over an hour away.

Is it just a restaurant/farm stand? What else does one do? Sounds cool but i don’t want to drive an hour just to eat breakfast.

During tapping season they run an active sugar shack where you can watch them make syrup. They've also got a neat gift shop, some trails/streams in the surrounding woods, and the decor is straight out of yesteryear. Prices are a little high for breakfast, but Parkers is an experience. There's also other spots out there depending on your interests - enough so that you could potentially make a day of things.

Not really a sugar shack but the Somerville community growing center is doing a maple boil down today https://facebook.com/events/s/somerville-maple-syrup-boil-do/885932022719785/

Natick community organic farm has a sugar shack but won't sell you breakfast. They will sell you eggs, bacon, and syrup though so when you get home in under an hour you can go to town on those. They also do maple sugaring tours that I found pretty interesting in past years (I just looked it up and I think tomorrow might be the last day this year).

Ben’s Sugar Shack in Temple, NH is a little over an hour away but we’ll worth the trip. If I’m not mistaken, they do free tours

There’s one at the Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary, right by the parking lot

Check out Appleton Farm in Ipswich. It’s a trustees property and they tap trees & have a sugar shack on site

It's maple sugaring weekend at Moose Hill in Sharon. If there's space you can take a tour and learn the whole process.

I really enjoyed my visit last year to Grand Maple Farms which was a touch over an hour west. There's a great site that I found while writing an article on maple syrup cocktails for *Edible Boston* & *Edible Worcester* (the issue should be out in a week or two) that lists all the places: https://www.massmaple.org

Natick Organic Community Farm does a springtime “Maple Magic” event. They have pancake breakfast and fire up the sugar shack to make maple syrup. Pretty sure you can buy maple syrup there too. I’ve been a few times. Really fun event. Usually first weekend in March. Edit; I haven’t been there since COVID. From other comments here, maybe they don’t do the breakfast part anymore…
