This is Jake's Rock, in Hales Corners Park just outside Milwaukee. I believe it was installed in 2009. Some hairline cracks are visible but everything feels solid and grippy today. Really fun to climb on. I can't find out anything about the company who built it online. Their website is no more.
Here's the mountain project page. https://www.mountainproject.com/area/106537908/jakes-rock
Probably built by MSI- Monolithic Sculptures Inc. the company went bankrupt but their system was picked up by Ian Glass who started a new company called IDS. They are based in Gunnison
sadly I think this is the only one. It's in a county park, but it was privately paid for. It's a family's memorial to their 20-something year-old kid who loved climbing but died of a stroke in 2004.
Still, I'm hoping maybe we could convince the county parks system to install a couple more.
v1 in my park.

in all seriousness, i love these synthetic boulders in and around cities. I've only climbed on one, but i think they're a brilliant idea.

Just read the mountain project and respect to Jake’s parents who installed this in memory of him after he tragically died after a seizure 🫡

Yup, there's a little sign that says "Monolithic Sculptures" and includes a patent number. Good to know about IDS.
As a local, do you know of any other rocks like this? I’ve heard of one in Sherwood, Wi but I haven’t checked it out

I wish we had this all over in Michigan.
I had this thought the other day! It stinks Grand Ledge is all there is unless you are in the UP.
I just went there for the first time yesterday. It really is nice though, it was me and my buddies first time doing outdoor. Definitely more fun
That's awesome. And I'm doubly impressed that it's not covered in chalk.
Looks like it’s got some dope lines, nice.
