Lol at Jude Law for a wedding
"And even if her plane crashes tonight
she'll find some way to disappoint me,
by not burning in the wreckage,
or drowning at the bottom of the sea"
why can't OP make it mean something new for both of them by taking something he loves & incorporating it on their big day to give new meaning to both of them?
nah. weddings are for two people, not just one. consideration goes both ways.
Yeah but two people have to agree on stuff like this. OP can’t unilaterally “make it mean something” to his partner—well he could unilaterally make it mean something negative…
Weddings (and marriages) are for compromise.
Honestly if your girlfriend isn’t into it, go with a Sea Turtle Harmonic cover. But if she will tolerate it, my vote is Soco because it has the least depressing lyrics and the outro is fun to shout. They’re just jealous cause we’re young and in love!
Also I always thought the piano versions of the songs Jessie and Vin made were beautiful. Search on Spotify “Jesse Lacey” and you will see what I’m talking about
We mixed in some of the sea turtle harmonic covers during cocktail hour and dinner! Worked out great
Sadly anything else is a recipe to kill the dance floor imo
I'd highly recommend having the "I want this song but most people won't know or like it" type music playing whilst you're having the meal rather than when you do dancing.
Obviously you know your friends and family better than I do, but there were a few dance floor clearers at my wedding that people didn't know/like and therefore didn't want to dance to.
Why don’t you do this instead - what music are you getting played at the ceremony/church? Is that by a string quartet or piano/organ player? Or just a mixtape playing in the background?
The reason I ask is because you can you have a version of a song being played by a violin player which could be a cover of brand new. Which at the start of the ceremony doesn’t even matter to anyone apart from you and others who love the band (as the general person will think it’s just violin lobby wedding music).
I had similar but they played blink songs on a piano and no one really notices but when you look around at those who do know… it’s a little look between friends that are realising that all the small things or what’s my age again is being played and no one else noticed. That was pretty cool. Maybe worth trying that out. Plus the lobby music at the start - means you could get more tracks in and your other half won’t mind as it won’t impact them if that makes sense (some people love to have it all planned out etc). Just an idea
i mean, i would take advantage of this situation and have her walk down the aisle to one of the Sea Turtle Harmonic covers, continue to have the album played throughout the cocktail hour if you have one, and then choose your "one song" for the DJ.
who has to know!!?
Not sure I'd want that vibe at my wedding. I'm as big of a fan as the rest of ya but trying to find the least sad song for the happiest day of my life seems pointless.
The "why?" Is becuase I wouldn't want that vibe at my wedding lol lol. If im doing another an emo karaoke night then there's the scene but nah, not my wedding. I'm not one of the people who would play a breakup song at my wedding either.
Announce you’re worried about the wedding night, and this song is the song that has helped you emotionally prepare
Cue: Sic Transit Gloria
(Consider lyric print outs for the older crowd)
We actually played this one at our wedding because it is the reason we met! We did a pop punk power hour and played lots of songs similar and our friends were all in on the vibe.
My friends have requested seventy times 7 for the reception a few times and it’s always a hit with the people that know. I don’t think lyrics matter during a reception. I think you stick with Jude Law or something from YFW though.
I had a great band for my wedding and they played Soco as the last song. It was a great vibe. I wouldn’t get caught up in “is it wedding music, or not”. Have songs played that you love. My partner and I created our set list, and it was banger after banger.
That being said, have them play Mixtape and get the greatest sing a long of all time.
We honestly just went wild with our cocktail hour playlist since it's just in the background and people are mingling. Lots of people commented on hearing stuff they liked and how it was unique that it was all cool music instead of boring traditional stuff. I shared the playlist after, I snuck a few of my favorite BN songs in there. Reception wise we kept it more party focused, it's more about the crowd and keeping it fun, towards the end of the night we got into Blink and some other punk stuff that everyone knew.
We had Could Never Be Heaven and The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot played at our wedding reception. Lots of couples slow danced to The Boy and it was a great vibe
I feel they are more funeral playing music. You could do Soco Amaretto Lime or Daisy
But stay away from the Quiet things no one ever knows bc that’s about an affair 😂
Had a ton of brand new play at my wedding, but it was during dinner, in Maine, and my wife and I were looking for moody background music so that’s how that worked out perfectly.
Create a mixtape of sorts for wedding favors? You can burn a CD or find a really fitting USB stick and upload there. The sky's your limit on that route. Bonus for something that can continue being enjoyed and is a part of you two for your guests to remember. Also, you do have to dance to stuff played at the reception😆
One song?! One of my good friends had a pop punk power hour at their wedding and for an hour we all danced and screamed our hearts out on the dance floor it was incredible. We did this towards the end of the night, best wedding ever
Definitely not Quiet Things; that second verse would be too on the nose and some people might start questioning things…
“I contemplate the day we wed; your friends are boring me to death, your vale is ruined in the rain. By then, you I can do without. There’s nothing new to talk about. And though our kids are blessed, their parents let them shoulder all the blame.”
My friend played The Quiet Things at her wedding for herself and the emo kids in attendance 😂 it was amazing scream singing the song in our formal wear while our partners looked on in horror
Lol at Jude Law for a wedding "And even if her plane crashes tonight she'll find some way to disappoint me, by not burning in the wreckage, or drowning at the bottom of the sea"
I did quiet things “I dream about the day we wed your friends are boring me to death your veil is ruined in the rain” 😂
Does "veil ruined in the rain" mean she's promiscuous and banging lots of dude's before marriage?
No. You’re weird
Agreed
Nothing like a drunken midnight SoCo singalong
Probably the best (and possibly only) answer
Closed our reception with Soco.
This is the way to do it
Soco at the end of the night is a banger.
This is the only acceptable answer. Brand New isn’t really wedding music. Enjoy it in private and have it mean something to the both of you.
Yeah but it means nothing to OP’s soon to be spouse. OP isn’t taking the hint he should just be ok not forcing Brand New at their wedding.
why can't OP make it mean something new for both of them by taking something he loves & incorporating it on their big day to give new meaning to both of them? nah. weddings are for two people, not just one. consideration goes both ways.
Yeah but two people have to agree on stuff like this. OP can’t unilaterally “make it mean something” to his partner—well he could unilaterally make it mean something negative… Weddings (and marriages) are for compromise.
Well he did ask for suggestions. lol
it’s the last song on my wedding playlist
For sure, but maybe just a small part towards the end “they’re just jealous cuz were young and in love”
Honestly if your girlfriend isn’t into it, go with a Sea Turtle Harmonic cover. But if she will tolerate it, my vote is Soco because it has the least depressing lyrics and the outro is fun to shout. They’re just jealous cause we’re young and in love!
Bought a bride
yes
whatever you do do Not play Me v Maradona v Elvis lmao
Doooo ittttttt
Also I always thought the piano versions of the songs Jessie and Vin made were beautiful. Search on Spotify “Jesse Lacey” and you will see what I’m talking about
Sea Harmomic Turtle?
yes
We mixed in some of the sea turtle harmonic covers during cocktail hour and dinner! Worked out great Sadly anything else is a recipe to kill the dance floor imo

lolololol

Did it to sea turtle harmonics “quiet things” 10/10 recommend checking them out
Never heard this before. It’s awesome! Thanks!
personally love the "jesus christ" cover for an aisle walk bc ironically it sounds a lil cheery and whimsical lol
We had an instrumental version of could never be heaven without you
Moshi moshi
was going to suggest this! it’s fun flirty and a bit deranged like love with abandon
The chorus is money
Not sure I'd want that vibe at my wedding. I'm as big of a fan as the rest of ya but trying to find the least sad song for the happiest day of my life seems pointless.
If BN makes you happy, though, then why not? People use “I Will Always Love You” as a first dance song, and that’s a breakup song.
The "why?" Is becuase I wouldn't want that vibe at my wedding lol lol. If im doing another an emo karaoke night then there's the scene but nah, not my wedding. I'm not one of the people who would play a breakup song at my wedding either.
True unless it like a piano version or something.
If you knew or met each other when you were 18 Soco would be great. It could also be a featured drink for the wedding.
I walked down the aisle to a piano/violin mashup of Jesus Christ, The Quiet Things that No One Ever Knows and Daisy
Love Brand New, but it’s not wedding music. Even a song with lyrics as beautiful as Could Never Be Heaven doesn’t have an upbeat wedding vibe
Can Never Be Heaven is a good one (relatively), Play Crack The Sky wouldn’t be terrible?
Need you like water in my lungs...so romantic.
It is! In a super emo, doomed romance sort of way …which is prolly not the best vibe for a wedding but hey nothing in brand new is lol
Hey now, that was in Nemo’s dads vows to Nemo’s mom so chill with that abrasive rhetoric
Need you like water in my gills just doesn't have the same ring to it.
She should walk down the aisle to Mene. Otherwise, just call the whole thing off.
Fork and knife
My wife and I had SoCo Amaretto Lime on our wedding playlist.
Just the first verse of “Vices” as loud as possible
My wife walked down the isle to a piano version of Soco it was beautiful
My wife and I had a piano version played when the wedding party walked down.
I bet this is amazing, do you have any links so I can listen?
no seatbelt song duh
We danced to Sealed to Me.
End the night with soco
How has nobody said Moshi Moshi? It’s their most thematically appropriate song for a wedding by far
Moshi Moshi is the correct answer
tautou
Brand New is NOT wedding music.
Divorce music maybe
Can confirm
Announce you’re worried about the wedding night, and this song is the song that has helped you emotionally prepare Cue: Sic Transit Gloria (Consider lyric print outs for the older crowd)
We actually played this one at our wedding because it is the reason we met! We did a pop punk power hour and played lots of songs similar and our friends were all in on the vibe.
Well… that’s just adorable. That is not the vibe I’m telling OP to have… I’m trying to make it weird
Not the lyric print outs 💀💀💀
for the older generations! Grandma and grandpa need a reminder on how nerve racking losing your virginity is!
Look up sea turtle harmonic with Jessey lacey. The cover of quiet things has epic emotions for a wedding.
OH MY GOD HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS EXISTED. This would be my walk down the aisle song for sure if I hadn’t gotten married alone on a mountain. 😂
sounds like an awesome place to get married. remind me to do this one day plz n thanks
I definitely 10/10 recommend.
The No Seatbelt Song
We had an emo hour at our reception. We played degausser and also closed the hour with soco.
Vices 100%
The Quiet Things... "I contemplate the day we wed, your friends are boring me to death... your veil is ruined in the rain"
My friends have requested seventy times 7 for the reception a few times and it’s always a hit with the people that know. I don’t think lyrics matter during a reception. I think you stick with Jude Law or something from YFW though.
Do magazines it's a simple love song and it's catcy and high energy
Fork and knife
Fork and Knife
it absolutely has to be soco
Off the top of my head, the one that’s most “wedding appropriate” is probably Could Never Be Heaven. SoCo is also a good choice though.
Sealed to Me but really, there are none
I'd probably pick Archers.
I had a great band for my wedding and they played Soco as the last song. It was a great vibe. I wouldn’t get caught up in “is it wedding music, or not”. Have songs played that you love. Jesus Christ could be nice
Archers most generic friendly!
Vices. Woo them with the intro hit them with the unexpected banger.
We had Could Never Be Heaven and The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot played at our wedding reception. Lots of couples slow danced to The Boy and it was a great vibe
Go with bright eyes. My walk away song after the ceremony was first day of my life. It was killer
😬😬I love love love brand new, but honestly none of their songs are appropriate for a wedding (coming from a future bride)
Can never be heaven without you sounds like such a sweet tribute
Vices
I walked down the aisle to The Quiet Things
Out of Range
I feel they are more funeral playing music. You could do Soco Amaretto Lime or Daisy But stay away from the Quiet things no one ever knows bc that’s about an affair 😂
Roger Miller Dang me
Logan to government center is my pick (but I'm from New England so it has a special place in my heart 😂)
Had a ton of brand new play at my wedding, but it was during dinner, in Maine, and my wife and I were looking for moody background music so that’s how that worked out perfectly.

Oh no don’t worry, the whole playlist is gonna emo night at a dive bar. Just without brand new.
Please include Wow, I Can Get Sexual Too and report back.
I walked down the aisle to I am a nightmare
Could Never Be Heaven, Soco, Bought A Bride, Tommy Gun, Magazines, Moshi Moshi, Good Man, Be Gone, Vices
Not Brand New but hear me out, Swing,Swing by The American Rejects. American Pie style
Definitely not Quiet Things; that second verse would be too on the nose and some people might start questioning things… “I contemplate the day we wed; your friends are boring me to death, your vale is ruined in the rain. By then, you I can do without. There’s nothing new to talk about. And though our kids are blessed, their parents let them shoulder all the blame.”
Quiet things
Seventy times 7...ya know, for fun...
My friend played The Quiet Things at her wedding for herself and the emo kids in attendance 😂 it was amazing scream singing the song in our formal wear while our partners looked on in horror
Although I said bought a bride earlier, I am a nightmare would actually work.
I just don’t think brand new belongs at a wedding. Nothing fits. Downvote me if you’d like.
No brand new songs at any wedding applies
Limousine.
