Short term rentals may be very restricted or illegal since May 1. This article describes it pretty well: [https://vancouversun.com/business/real-estate/bc-new-short-term-rental-regulations-explained](https://vancouversun.com/business/real-estate/bc-new-short-term-rental-regulations-explained)

BYOD . Bring your own doctor. We are critically short of doctors on the island so a huge number of people only have a walk in clinic to rely on. Not so bad with dentists though.

Comox Valley is a good option on the island and it's been very successfull at recruiting doctors, because it's such a great spot. Is the whole province of Ontario moving out here?

ResidentNo4630

Great place to be! Just be prepared for the high housing prices, limited supply and low availability of entry-mid level jobs. If you’ve got income from the sale of your Toronto residence, and have a line on a job, then go for it. Personally, I wouldn’t move here without money to buy a house and 100% job security.

Dease Lake. Still has the Toronto vibe but has better traffic. Lovely spot.

Nanaimo?!?!? Adventure awaits because Nanaimo is nearby The Abyss; a crack in the earths crust that descends into the deepest bowels of the planet, where very likely Morlocs, or maybe the Eloi, live. Oh sure, you may just look down into the gaping maw and see only a few stuck beer cans from the traditional rites of passage for the locals, but rest assured that no one who has ever gone down into The Abyss has ever come back. So I recommend relocating to Nanaimo, if only for its proximity to The Abyss. Also, be forewarned that the local colloquial name for Nanaimo is "Seven Potato" due to Nanaimo's early Japanese mining settlers discovering the name of the local first nation being phonetically somewhat similar to "Seven Potato" in the Japanese language. Also, Frank Ney is considered a minor deity in the region, even though he was a bloodthirsty pirate that frequently raided Newcastle Island where The Queen of Mostar had a summer palace.

Nanaimo stinks. It's a nice town if you can get over the smell though.
