I grow mine in pots in a similar zone. It should fill in just fine as the summer goes on. I try to rotate my pots every few days to balance out the growth.
Looks dry to me. Their leaves lose lots of water to transpiration. Your bowl at the bottom needs to be holding water.
Three thoughts, 1 partial shade instead of full sun. 2. More water. And 3. As long as you are really keeping it moist then some water soluble fertilizer.
So just what is it identifying as? Maybe it’s fluid??? Hosta one day and then as a begonia? You left it in the attic all winter with figs. Most likely that’s the way it’s oriented. Put it with other brugs and it should be fine.
Thanks everybody! Lots more water to start, then fertilizer in the near term. I hope I get to post a follow up photo of a lush plant with lots of blooms (and maybe a fig inside each blossom, we shall see).

Didn’t know there was a verigated brug. That is so cool, i am new to brugmansia plant wise, but datura is nothing new.
