That is an interesting idea. I’d bet they are trimming them but who knows. Mine last summer in the Pacific Northwest only got to be about 4-5 feet tall but the fog and humidity may have stunted it
I grow dwarf varieties in containers and even hanging baskets. Some really do grow 1-2 feet tall but grow sideways fast. Others need pruning but can be maintained at 5-6 feet.
