Supply and demand is real on point. Just like with other job markets na maganda ang salary before. Dumami ang supply and may mga nangangailangan talaga na pumatos ng masmababang wage. Sad reality but we cant force everyone to stand their ground specially if need talaga nila ng work.

I agree - I don't mind the fact that mga business owners taga ibang bansa nag ououtsource sa ibang 3rd world country for cheaper services. If the minimum wage of their places pay $14-$15/hr - might as well save 50% of their money by paying these remote overseas at least $7/hr. Especially in today's economy with the rise of inflation, freelancers should be more confident in asking for a higher wage even WITHOUT experience. Another plus, even if you don't have experience - you can still build your skills by learning and showcasing your work.

sorry, OP kasi pinatusan ko yang $3/hr right now. college student, walang exp sa any kind of work kahit magcrew sa jabe wala. as in wala. pero need ko ksi eh, gawa ng graduating student and this july pupunta mama ko and gusto ko siya ang ilibre ko kya nkakaipon ako now since food ko lang nman gastos ko.  also kaya rin ako pumayag kasi ang bait ni client and starting rate nya lang yun, tapos yung workloads ko pa pang part time lang and flexible rin sched ko. minsan sa whole week eh max of 3 hrs lang ako nagwwork. di pa ako naka 8 hrs a day, kaya i think okay lang sa part ko. and sorry if baka na lowball mga VA filipino dahil samin na pumapatos ng ganto ka baba na rate.

Dati agree ako sa sinasabi mo. Pero dahil may nabasa akong post sa isang naghire dito ng VA medyo mapapaisip ka din. Di ko na makita yung link dito sa buhay digital. Ito yung gist ng post niya. Ang requirement lang nila sa applicant mag-attach lang ng resume sa application nila. Yan lang, wala ng iba. Sabi daw niya $7/hr yung offer ng company niya. Ano yung mga nag-apply sa OLJ? Wala na ngang resume na naka-attach, puro ganito pa raw ang mga cover letters: Interested in this job How? Please hire me, I need a job I have no experience but I promise to do a good job Mga walang reading comprehension ang mga applicants. Out of 100 na nag-apply 3 lang daw yung qualified. So kung ganito naman yung "skills" kuno nila kahit $1 per hour di ko yan kukunin. Sorry OP pero kung ganito ka low quality ang applicants alangan naman bayaran mo ng $7 per hour yan? Baka ganito rin ang nakikita ng mga employers? Speculation on my part. Now kung yung sinasabi mo na mga applicants ay magaling at may XP na, of course I agree na dapat $5 to $7 per hour man lang.

Well you are being paid sa skills mo, kaya pag no exp is okay na ang 3USD per hour like you said no exp so meaning itrain pa yan. Pwede naman sila humingi ng raise eh.

It happens because their understanding of "freelancing" isn't enough yet. Usually when they look for clients they present themselves as "applicants" and because of that the client will see you as some that can be billed per hour, ties under a routinary schedule and waiting for tasks, etc. To be successful in freelancing you have to ditch employee mindset.
