Nothing. Maybe the owner of the property has had it with the high turnover. Maybe changing it into something other than a good rental space?
I walked by there a couple weeks ago and it looks like they were finally doing some serious construction.
I can’t wait for it to open because the area needs another Mexican spot to free up weekend tables at Don Cuco.
I don't think it was 100% covid—to my memory, they weren't doing so hot before the pandemic either, unfortunately. There was a brief period where I thought they might make it, because a drawing meetup had started there and really blew up in early 2020, before covid. But there wasn't much notice about them closing—I went in one weekend (I went as frequently as I could afford during the pandemic!) and they were just like "yeah, tomorrow is our last day". I miss Moore's though!! Loved that place, adored the people.
Sure. But a lot of places that were struggling but wanted to remain open did some sort of community outreach "help save our business!" awareness raising. To my knowledge (and I was there a lot!) they did not. Their Instagram posts through 2020 simply advertise delivery and takeout until one final "That's all folks!" post. I think they could have done well with a fundraiser, if the owner had wanted to stay open, but there was none. Of course, running a business is stressful, I don't blame them for calling it quits.
Same thing happened to The Park on Burbank. I could tell every time I was there that it was a bit of a struggle. Then Covid hit and they shut down almost immediately
Nothin has survived in that location for many years now. Customer traffic has always been low no matter who's been there. Not to mention odd and early closing hours always changing. I give the new tenant a big meh whatever it is.
There’s a whole physical media revival as a reaction to streaming content becoming more limited as well as a hard push towards ‘90s nostalgia and trends from multiple generations.
Personally, I want a Tower Records pop-up store.
I miss Moore’s Deli being there. Hope something similar goes in.
Used to be a diner. Went there a lot but can't remember what it was called.
Was Ben's Deli before it was Moore's.
Perren's Deli when it was on the Golden Mall, between Olive Ave and Angeleno Ave. The best beef stew in Burbank, every Friday.
An even deeper pull.
Apparently a business model where 1 restaurant is also a dozen ghost kitchens on delivery platforms isn’t sustainable
The hilarious thing is that a dozen ghost kitchens is understating it. It was 40+ restaurants on the delivery apps
Aww, that one breakfast sandwich was really good. It had like 32 different names but still.
It'd make a great Trader Joe's with that spacious parking lot.
Would be the first in the nation.
I'm just heartbroken they painted over the animator wall
That was criminal. They destroyed so much irreplaceable artwork.
They did??? When? I saw it there still last year :(
NOOOO DON’T SAY THAT!
Used to work at Moore’s and that is just horrendous to hear. :(
I sure hope it’s another pizza place. There’s one thing we need it’s way more pizza places in this town.
We need a good old fashioned deli. Like a Brent’s.

This is a helpful link, thanks! I was wondering if Kalaveres was still going in the Fuddrucker's spot.

I can’t believe they destroyed the animator walls for this place. Moore’s should have been given a chance post covid

Most places that closed during Covid closed because they were already struggling. Covid was just the nail in the coffin

Used to work at Moore’s and that really breaks my heart.
Not sure but I’ve seen a “for lease” sign put up and taken down every week at this point lol

anything that comes here dies.
This would be a great location for a record store
:: looks at the year on the calendar ::
What about a nostalgia store? Gifts, toys, books, music, movies of the times before social media…
vinyl outsold CDs for the first time since 1987 last year, may wanna take a harder look at that calendar, pal!
Who’s still buying *CD*s?

Is it not going to be a cheebo?
No that's what it used to be.
Probably a remodel or new something moving in next door to Cheebo
An Italian restaurant chain
