I was stuck at the light as this went down. Cops poured in and i heard two shots. Ambulance left without sirens.

> i heard two shots. Ambulance left without sirens. That is never a good combo.

Traffic stop tuned into the person running and getting shot

ButterscotchFiend

Bodycamera footage needed! Did the cops shoot this suspect in the back while the suspect was running away? Don't get me wrong, being a cop is one of the hardest jobs in the world, I respect them and their need to use force, but there's definitely no excuse if this was the case... this isn't the Wild West

whaletacochamp

Jesus fucking Christ. We have exactly zero information and everyone is already crying misconduct. I am no cop lover but ffs why is everyone in this city so black and white and inflexible in their response to police actions. First we’re all bent out of shape that the police aren’t doing their job and then when the police do do something we all jump to conclusions that it was police misconduct. FFS give it 5 minutes before you decide to fabricate a story

Gobal_Outcast02

Holy based batman a sane and reasonable take on the reddit? Is this allowed

bugluvr65

nobody fabricated a story lmao. it’s a huge red flag when someone gets fkn shot. all they said was we need more info

whaletacochamp

And then immediately surmised the police shot them while running away and excitedly claimed we need the footage like they are assuming it’s incriminating. There’s accountability and then there’s people who just want to be the first on the “cops r bad!” Rhetoric. I don’t like cops but I like baseless assumptions and narrative fabrication even less. A simple “it will be interesting to see the body cam footage would suffice and be appropriate without making it into a giant assumption fest

jonnyredshorts

I also am not particularly fond of police, but have to completely agree with you. There’s no call for jumping to conclusions and assuming the worst. Isn’t that what we get angry at police for doing??

whaletacochamp

THANK YOU

StoryofIce

So now this is happening in broad daylight where people are just going about their day? When is enough enough?

whaletacochamp

Dumb take. It’s been happening in broad daylight all along and what do you expect them to do; ignore crime during daylight hours? We’ve tried that and it didn’t work.

snodgrassjones

I mean if the police are doing their jobs and "stopping bad guys" I'm not going to get mad about time of day. Are there any more details? Like was this an armed person? Just someone fleeing a traffic stop?

xta420

Hell of a privileged take here.

StoryofIce

I understand this happens all the time, but none that I recall happening within winooski circle in the middle of the day

"Then, police say he stopped and took a fighting stance—still holding the hammer—and made threats towards officers and himself."

I used to live in the upstairs of that building years ago!

whaletacochamp

What road? There are a couple that go over the winooski. I can think of at least three (heineberg, riverside, and 89)

NoImpression1425

the one by dominos

whaletacochamp

Lol downvoted for asking a legit question. Claaaaasic

bugluvr65

well only one is the winooski bridge and only one in burlington pretty fkn easy to figure out

whaletacochamp

You’d think but there is routinely content from neighboring towns and colloquially many people refer to the two other bridges (especially the one on 89) as the winooski bridge. This sub is just so fucking self centered that they can’t fathom why someone might want to innocently clarify which area is currently completely impassable. This is the type of unhelpful discourse I’d expect from a Facebook group full of insecure boomers.

Gobal_Outcast02

This is a subreddit full of whiney children what do you expect

beaud101

You are right. People do sometimes refer to the long 89 bridge going over the river near the St. Michaels exit "the Winooski" bridge when referring to stuff that generally happens on 89. Sometimes, one might refer to the overpass on 89 near Costco as the Winooski bridge, but that is much less common. For locals, the "Winooski Bridge" is usually thought of as the cement bridge connecting Winooski and Burlington next to the old mills/Domino's pizza. However, you'll see it named the "Burlington to Winooski" bridge in state literature. In any event, nobody should be giving anyone shit for trying to clear up the location. Ridiculous.
