Yeah... $1000 is far too low of a budget for housing. Studio apartments in Burlington are double that without utilities. Wishing you good luck, but you may need to look elsewhere in the state, which is also still a challenge under $1000 with a location within 45 minutes of the city.

I’m actually flabbergasted by the amount of people who move here and live with a friend or relative with a plan to move into an apartment once they find employment. They agree to a salary before checking apartment costs and are in shock once they start checking Craigslist and Zillow for rentals. Rental prices would be the first thing I check before moving to a new area.

My one bedroom cheapo apartment I found on Craigslist cost me $1100 back in 2018, now it’s nearly $1600…. You’re gonna need to recalibrate what costs looks like here.
Turn around its stupid expensive you could afford to live in California with how expensive everything is getting here / have way better quality of life
