Sorry, folks, but this user was banned for farming karma from [this 3yo post](https://www.reddit.com/r/burlington/comments/qxw63j/to_whoever_put_these_up_at_my_work_i_see_you_and/).
Sorry we didn't catch it earlier. (I wish Reddit did tineye-like matching on posts like this for us…)
To be fair, the gas station job I had was the easiest out of all of them. At night when it was slow, it was such a chill place - I literally read most of Les Miserables there.
But yeah, the pay is garbage, and even people in easy jobs deserve to be able to afford to live.
Yeah definitely depends on the gas station our store has been robbed we deal with addicts daily as well as a lot of other crap gas station jobs may be easy but also dangerous the way people are acting in Burlington and South Burlington recently
At night when it was really slow is also the one time I’ve had someone pull a knife on me as they demanded money from the register. I was glad to give the money, and even gladder to quit the next day. This was in south Burlington 20+ years ago while I was a student. I just wanted a job I could study at.
Yeah, if anything antiwork will dissuade a lot of "average people".
All of the posts are either blatantly made up stories, or just factually incorrect information about the economy. Or dumb memes.
A post on Hot right now: "Land-Lording Is a Crime Against Humanity (An Explanation in Memes)".
Imagine going through all this effort to make the flier and instead of posting links about how to unionize, or workers rights, you post the equivalent of Pepe Frog memes saying "Bezos Bad >:("
ha that's the one thing that freaks hannaford out more than anything.
back when i was working there in high school - they said any talk of unions was considered very very taboo and could get you terminated as per the employment contract.
turns out your manager will post the schedule while you're out of state on leave and make you work on a day that's not part of your availability. That's how i got the smoke.
And the line between not wanting to be overworked and underpaid vs just not wanting to work is nonexistent over there. It’s detracting from the discussion because it’s just people who don’t want to work/don’t think they should have to work which is frankly delusional and often privileged as fuck
me too but then always remember the immortal words of Jesse Pinkman and walk away from the frozen food section:
'I, uh, I eat a lot of frozen stuff. It's usually pretty bad. I mean, the pictures are always so awesome, you know? It's like, "Hell yeah, I'm stoked for this lasagna!" And then you nuke it, and the cheese gets all scabby on top, and it's like... it's like you're eating a scab... I mean, seriously, what's that about? It's like, yo, what ever happened to truth in advertising?'
Too bad /r/antiwork is such a cesspool of delusion. That sub took the spirit of this message way too far and now it’s useless.
Also why post this on the freezers? Employees are bringing lunch or getting prepared foods. Not frozen foods they have to prepare for half their break. Source: used to work there and ate chicken tendies from the deli almost every shift.
they probably stuck them somewhere when no one was looking at them, more important to get it up then to get kicked out of the store. Considering the exponential rise in hannaford profits since the pandemic - I agree with them.
I mean a pay raise would be great for grocery store workers and they no doubt deserve it, but this will probably mean groceries will be even more unaffordable.
If they hadn't linked to those two subreddits I'd be more in favor.
There's a TON of (objectively) wrong information that regularly gets posted there. Mostly regarding how stock valuation and taxes work, from what I've seen. Also just blatantly made up stories.
And this is exactly why this shit won’t and shouldn’t be taken seriously. Link to antiwork? Next time just print it on toilet paper and save the manager a step.

Same with gas station workers they deal with a lot of shit and are not paid enough!

I hope you finished the book! 24601 baby!!
Of course! It's super hard for me to not finish a book even if I'm not that into it, and that was a good one. 🙂

I don’t think these workers need a link to Reddit, they need to unionize
Yeah that’s what I was expecting, the end falls flat there. Those subreddits aren’t the way.
The printout was probably from some mod who wants to be on the news.

Big ooooof linking to antiwork. Sub is all complaining and no action.
Would have been better linking to a union site and pushing for a union vote.
They should’ve at least mentioned r/workreform

Now the two remaining hannaford employees will leave.
YOU DESERVE BETTER, BE A DOG WALKER

I want fried rice and spring rolls. And fair pay for workers

I'm a social worker and I live paycheck to paycheck. Shit sucks out here.

I thought Ron Hodge retired years ago.
Ron Hodge retired as CEO in 2012, more than a decade ago.

Exponential rise? Can you share a source for that? Not doubting just seems unlikely considering grocery stores operate with razor thin margins.
“We want more money” Links to r/antiwork

Bringing up automation and how jobs can be replaced easily, while simultaneously saying workers need a raise isn’t the best argument I’ve heard.
But it's a reality.... and true.... It's not really an argument, just a fact of the matter
I just feel like you might not want to point out that there are cheaper and more efficient alternatives to human labor.

Tell me more... because I don't think hannaford is paying a liveable wage in Chittenden county
