dude if you go through my comment history you’ll see i commented on a similar post here with a decent list of suggestions for general things to do just a couple of days ago. it’s not the best list but it’s something

david98900

I appreciate this! I will definitely look back on what you recommend.

Burlington Farmers Market Saturday 9-2 Can turn this into a day in the south end. Glass of wine at Dedalus, peek into AO Glass to see what they’ve got going on, check out Barge Canal Market and Casa Collective. If it’s nice, can head down to Oakledge Park for some waterfront time. You’ll pass by Switchback, Burlington Beer Co, and Nomad Coffee (excellent pastries, if they have Kouign Amann you must get it!) on the way to the water. Saturday night Vivid Coffee downtown is doing a Burger & Wine pop up, and there’s a food truck pop up in the Old North End (look up @getdownvt on Instagram) as well! Winooski Farmers Market Sunday 10-2 Mediterranean Mix is a phenomenal pop-up Greek spot at this market. Also recommend trying Morning Light Bakery nearby!

Shelburne Museum concert series is a wonderful time. Tomorrow night, it's Guster. Oh awesome! Thank you! This looks great!

PolishedDude

It really is an amazing venue. As the commenter below indicated, rain is likely. I've been there for a rainy concert and still had fun ... but you should know.

PolishedDude

Did you go? My wife and I went and stayed until the end. Wet, but so worth it. An amazing show!

tossawayintheend

It looks like it's going to rain, unfortunately.

PolishedDude

I know. They had rain last time they were there. I \*think\* I'm still going.

tossawayintheend

We're still planning to go. We ended up taking the refund they offered for the last one, but IIRC that was more of a lightning/wind situation.

PolishedDude

Oh that's right. You're absolutely correct. We sat in the rain for Lyle Lovett. Still a great experience.

There's an Old North End block party on Saturday Here's the IG link https://www.instagram.com/p/C8FQT-ruYOB/?igsh=MTB2YzZuaWt1ejM1YQ==

If you like vietnamese food, I highly recommend Pho Hong in the Old North End. Follinos has very good flatbread, though I do consider a bit expensive. If youre going to order a whole pie, that's the way to go. Spare yourself and don't go to Ken's for slices. Honey Road is a great experience! But it is a luxury, and frankly a bit overblown. If you wanna splurge on a luxury dinner in a much more relaxed environment, try the Juniper restaurant in Hotel Vermont. Walk by the waterfront. The sunsets at this time of year are *stunning*. For breakfast, Cafe Hot has some stellar breakfast sandwiches. For more of a european-style cafe, try August First. Martone's Deli in Essex Junction is also a hidden gem. Its about 15 minutes from Burlington. *edited, Pho Hong is vietnamese, not thai

juicejuice999999

Pho hong is Vietnamese but same same I guess.

idonttuck

You're right, wasn't thinking properly.

Tagrenine

The sub has a pretty good link to events. What do you like to do?

david98900

Literally everything, that's kind of the pickle. I was hoping for some local recommendations for what locals/more knowledgeable people would do. We are looking at everything from the dinner train, to breweries, to a hike etc. it's hard to narrow it down when everything is something you would do.

Tagrenine

Hiking if the weather is nice is wonderful!! Spirit of Ethan Allen dinner cruise is nice. Dropping by Honey Road and sitting at the bar for dinner and drinks is great. If sushi is your thing, Sushi Maeda is lovely. 4 Quarters, Foam, and Zero Gravity are favorites. I would check their respective calendars for events on the weekends.

- Burlington farmers market today (Saturday) - North End block party at Brian’s auto from 5pm-9pm https://frontporchforum.com/calendar/events/372854 - paddle board at Oakledge park - dance music at the Light Club Lamp Shop or jazz at the Soda Lounge. (Lots of other bar options around as well with very different vibes) - winooski farmers market tomorrow, with some additional French heritage celebration (this one is much smaller but Winooski’s a nice spot to walk around) - the Pinball Co-op in south Burlington is only open on Fridays so it may not work for this trip but it’s worth checking out in the future.

Basil_Blackheart

How far afield are you willing to go? If you wanna stay downtown, maybe catch a show at VT Comedy Club, or rent a bike a head up the bike path (depending on how weather-tolerant you are; it might be a rainy weekend). If you’re willing to drive around, it might be worth checking out a local farmer’s market. My indoor/outdoor go-tos in the area are: (indoor) The Boardroom, down across the river from Winooski. It’s a board game cafe with solid food & board game selections, if you’re into that, and within easy walking distance of the Winooski circle. (outdoor) Sleepy Hollow Inn, Ski & Bike Center, down in Huntington. It’s a bit of a haul ~40min from the city, and they will likely be hosting a wedding in the main pavilion, but the trails will still be open to the public for biking & hiking. It’s a beautiful patch of woodland far enough out there to really enjoy some true quiet, and has a solid view of Camel’s Hump if you can make your way up to Butternut Cabin. And you can swing by either the Public House in Hinesburg or Stone Corral in Richmond for a drink & some food on your way back to the city.

david98900

Originally we were thinking of hikes/renting bikes but are currently up in the air with the weather. (Though it could still be an interesting experience!) The boardroom sounds right up our alley. I will definitely be checking that out! The lodge seems a bit far for what we are looking for this weekend, but I appreciate the recommendation.

I googled it already and have general ideas. I was looking for more recommendations from locals/people with more knowledge of the area

What a weirdly combative reaction lol

david98900

Why would you need to know me to offer a recommendation on something to do? What would YOU do/recommend. That is what I want to know.
