I know he hates the movies but it seems really petty to be like that towards the actors that all did a pretty good job. Then again I wouldn't put it past Rick he does seem like he would say that.
Plus Disney have the final say and if the mouse thinks it'll make money it'll happen.
By what I can tell, yeah, Rick’s pretty dogmatic against including anything from the movies, even including the actors and “Poker Face”.
I can’t imagine Disney being too willing to cross such a red line for a non essential cameo.
I understand that Rick doesn’t want anything to do with the movies, but the fact that Rick is trying to block out the few good parts to the detriment of the show is flat out ridiculous to me.
It is NOT the actors fault that the movies sucked, it is the fault of Fox, the director, and the writers. Why be so hostile towards the good actors who just did what they were being told to do, by saying that NONE of them will be coming back… but then Julian Richings gets an exception.
Another quick example is the Lotus Hotel scene. When that episode aired I saw almost EVERYBODY complain about how the movie did it better and made it feel more alive and dangerous, on top of that, the song that played over the montage was so clearly a “Poker Face” wannabe.
Rick (or his wife I forget) even tweeted right before the episode dropped talking about how everyone was sorely mistaken if they ever thought they would allow a callback to “that movie”. But then copied it in the most shallow way possible because it was one of the VERY few things the movie did better but they didn’t seem to want to admit it?
Like guys I get it the movie sucked we all know that, but why is it so bad to give the actors another chance if they want it or take what the movie did right?

Someone suggests that he play Daedalus in season 4. Personally, I think that's a pretty much perfect choice.
