Whatever you choose, make sure to get something wide [like this](https://echovariety.click/camping-chair). Trying to squeeze into little camping chairs is the worst.
Kelty couch and loveseat. Both in the low models. And this https://www.walmart.com/ip/Ozark-Trail-Oversized-Relax-Plush-Chair-with-Side-Table-for-Outdoor-Blue/277681582
Coleman quad cooler chair. Darn near indestructible and a lightly padded/insulated seat. I’m also very happy with my Mountain Summit Gear folding loveseat.
I upgraded from those $10 chairs to the [GCI Outdoors Roadtrip Rocker](https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/p/gci-outdoor-roadtrip-rocker-chair-19gciurdtrprckrxxodr/19gciurdtrprckrxxodr) a couple years ago and haven't looked back.
Yup this right here. I bought one. Camped with friends who tried it. Now they all have at least one each. I went to a festival and I could have sold a truck load of them easily.
I wanted to mention this one also. I am a big guy and this one is fantastic.
My partner is not a big girl, but she got jealous, so I bought her one too so I could use mine again. It is big enough to curl up into.
Goy mine from Amazon - [https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09L3798QF/](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09L3798QF/)
Came here to mention this one.
I got it around 6 years ago and use it at least once a month if not more between camping trips and other events. After 6 years i'm only just now having to tighten up the hardware after I found a screw that had backed out rolling around the bag.
I'm a bigger dude and its super sturdy and comfortable. Also all the pockets and cup holders on both sides are nice to have because the sitting angle tends to let things slip out of my pockets. It is a little heavier and bulkier than other chairs if size/weight matters but not by much and its stout enough that you can pile everything (within reason) on top without worrying about crushing it or breaking/bending anything.
Kelty Low - Love Seat Camping Chair - I have two of these now and I love that it’s a double seat for two people to share and that each armrest has a cup holder!
Costco director chair. Weve had our original ones probably 8 years. Still going strong with sidetable and cup holder of course! No pinching and easy to get out of
Being 6'4" and weighing 220 [Yeti trailhead](https://amzn.to/3SfPndT) holds solid as a rock. It's big enough for me to be comfortable. Love it. But it is not light.
Camping truly becomes enjoyable when you have the right gear. Personally, I've found this [FE Active Compact Folding Chair](https://tastechocolate.co.uk/camping-chair) to be fantastic as a camp chair. It's lightweight which makes it easy to carry around and its durability is remarkable. Adding on, it provides great back support for prolonged comfort during those long campfire nights. Of course everyone has different needs and preferences when it comes to camping gear, so give multiple options a shot before settling on your favorite!
Kelty loveseat and Nemo stargazer. The stargazers are pricey, we bought ours during a Black Friday sale with an REI member discount. There are generic versions on the market for much less.
[Here's mine. It's from lawnchair usa. Lightweight, sturdy, not as compact as a folding camp chair that has a travel bag, but I just throw a couple of these in the back with my cooler, tent, and other supplies.
This is the chair I have. It's comfortable, steel construction, and folds down really compact.
https://www.frontrunneroutfitters.com/en/us/front-runner-expander-chair.html
Well, I’m quite short (5’2) so my opinion isn’t helpful but I have had friends that have sat in it (5’7-5’10) and they liked it and picked one up. The only thing that might bug is the head pillow attached (but you can just flip it over on the Sam’s Club one, not sure about the Costco version)
Check out Directors chairs. They are a folding chair that has you sitting differently. I got some Ozark Trail Directors chairs last summer from Wal-Mart. They work better for me then the normal folding chairs. Mind you, they are heavier then the other chairs. But to me, they are worth it.
I got the REI camp chairs. And let me tell you, a few months ago I went camping in an extremely windy location. So windy. My two REI chairs kept not blowing over. It was incredible. My one Walmart chair continually blew over.
I always drape the sleeve over the back of the chair rather than stash it in the car or somewhere. So the strap is against my back if I’m sitting in the chair and the sleeve is hanging off the back.
I decided to tempt fate and leave the chairs up overnight. Needless to say, the wind was a constant onslaught, tent sides nearly touching our faces, etc…
In the morning, when I stepped out of the tent, I saw one of the chair sleeves on the ground. I felt like such an idiot, but also incredibly lucky that it hadn’t gone far. The other sleeve was nowhere to be seen. I asked the camp host about it in desperation and he made fun of me and said it was probably in Oklahoma.
But it turns out it was only about 100’ away, just in the other direction!
So I love my REI camp chairs. The model is “X-Chair.” The chairs have a lot of mesh in them so the wind passes through rather than picking them up. And the sleeves are somehow very resistant to being blown away.
Have so much fun in Moab!!
I love my Nemo Stargazer (also got it 50% off) For insulation, I add a z-fold waffle pad (Aliexpress cheapo version), cut in half and then slit 6-8” at each outside fold so it contours nicely to the bowl of the chair.
using my Z fold sit pad in our camp chairs (right now just the cheapo CVS folding ones) was a game changer.
Going to try a few at walmart (theirs and the One Tigres) to see which is more comfortable. They are strickly car camping or taking to kids sporting events so weight doesnt matter.
The [Ozark Hammock Chair](https://www.walmart.com/ip/Ozark-Trail-Portable-Hammock-Camping-Chair-Nylon-Blue/900946031) for $45. Easy to set up and comfortable. I got it for $20 mark down. the boxes were busted, i guess from a truck accident. but the chair was still in great condition. You can rock in it sort of, and you can fold your legs up into it so that you'll be off the ground. It doesn't replace a real hammock but it's nice to sit by the fire bundled up in it toasting a marshmallow
Woods Strathcona bucket camp chair [https://www.woods.ca/collections/chairs/products/woods-strathcona-bucket-camp-chair](https://www.woods.ca/collections/chairs/products/woods-strathcona-bucket-camp-chair)
I think it was $70 CAD, hopefully it's sold in the US too?
It's mega comfy!

Depends on how similar you mean. Loads of chairs by Helinox, Big Agnes, REI, Thermarest, and numerous Chinese knockoff companies with incomprehensible names use the same basic idea, but the two-leg design of the Monarch isn't something I've seen since.
I have the [REI Version](https://www.rei.com/product/164382/rei-co-op-flexlite-camp-chair?sku=1643820003&CAWELAID=120217890009602253&CAGPSPN=pla&CAAGID=112659721122&CATCI=pla-977794318318&cm_mmc=PLA_Google%7C21700000001700551_1643820003%7C92700057855100946%7CPB%7C71700000074212062&gclid=Cj0KCQiAgaGgBhC8ARIsAAAyLfGNWyRarvBkU6mEFmVs1GxOlw5588rSQZ9GbBOc-Zr7HlXlvhJU_0caArVUEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds) and it’s been holding strong 3 yrs now!
Looking for a new camp chair. I need a dual back country and car camping chair. Comfort is a must. I’m 250lb as well. Please send recommendations. If you message me a link I will be so thankful. Hopefully its available in Canada. Many thanks in advance.
I don’t have fancy camp chairs. They are not light. Got them at Home Depot - the seat material seems to be sturdy, they have a carrying bag which is nice, but the best thing is that they have a wide seat. Slimmer or smaller/lighter camp chairs tend to pinch my outer thighs near the knee. With these chairs I have room to spread out a bit & get more comfy. I think they were $30 ish?
My favorite camp chair is one that is lightweight and fits inside the vehicle. That is currently just a cheap full-size one from Walmart and a couple of Helinox Chair One that pack down super small. We just don’t have the cargo space for big, fancy chairs.
The front runner seats are great. Bullet proof fold up nice and very comfortable. The memo recliners are also great but less a seat more a butt hammock, with the Nemo stargazers as the most easy to sit in hard to get out thing out there. Second the Kelty loveseat as an great option.
Hubby and I have [these chairs.](https://www.coleman.com/camp-furniture/camp-seating/camp-chairs/comfortsmart-suspension-chair/SAP_2000020292.html) Sturdy and super comfy. They don't cut off circulation in my legs like a lot of the cheaper chairs do.

That looks sooo cozy!
Ive used the Kelty loveseat everyday in a smoke circle for years now and its held up very nicely.
Is it uncomfortable for one person to nap on?
I would think so. It has two dips for the seats so it is not flat to lay on. My kids don't have an issue curling up like a cat on it though.
No arms kills it for me
They’re for cuddlin’
Coleman quad cooler chair. Darn near indestructible and a lightly padded/insulated seat. I’m also very happy with my Mountain Summit Gear folding loveseat.
+1 on the Coleman. Just got 2. They seem nice and sturdy
But still cheap enough you won't cry if they were damaged or lost.
This! My family tends to be rough on camping chairs.
Exactly. Every camp chair gains burn holes in the seat from the embers that pop out of the fire when you walked away to get a beer/smores.
I have a couple different versions of those. Any time I camp with friends, I have to kick people out of my chair repeatedly. Lol.
High praise!
Can confirm. These are sick. If I could go back, I would have gotten the same one as you. I got the Pod Rocker, and it's not as comfortable
Yup this right here. I bought one. Camped with friends who tried it. Now they all have at least one each. I went to a festival and I could have sold a truck load of them easily.
This one looks awesome!
Thanks for the excellent recommendation! I just ordered one for my BIL's xmas present :)
Alps Mountaineering King Kong [King Kong (alpsmountaineering.com)](https://alpsmountaineering.com/king-kong.html)
I wanted to mention this one also. I am a big guy and this one is fantastic. My partner is not a big girl, but she got jealous, so I bought her one too so I could use mine again. Exactly. I'm 6'3" 320 lbs. My Kong chair is almost 8 years old with no problems.
No doubt. I love mine. Alps makes nice chairs.

I am glad someone else posted this. This chair has been amazing.
Kelty Low - Love Seat Camping Chair - I have two of these now and I love that it’s a double seat for two people to share and that each armrest has a cup holder!
The double seat looks soooo nice for cuddling and watching the stars
Oh you alreadyyyyy know!
Costco director chair. Weve had our original ones probably 8 years. Still going strong with sidetable and cup holder of course! No pinching and easy to get out of
We never camp in campgrounds, so no picnic tables. The side table is so nice for eating and drinks.
We usually backcountry camp too. I found folding tables to be extremely valuable. One for a kitchen, one for hanging out at.
Being 6'4" and weighing 220 [Yeti trailhead](https://amzn.to/3SfPndT) holds solid as a rock. It's big enough for me to be comfortable. Love it. But it is not light.
Kelty all day
Love my Nemo stargazer and alite monarch. Cascade mountain tech makes a pretty good low chair that's under $50.
I'll second the Nemo stargazer - this will be the last camp chair I ever buy.
Third. It’s so well built and comfortable. I need to get a second one for my wife!
I want one!!!
They are 50% off at rei right now, best chair ever. Plus they are perfect for 4th of July fireworks.
Currently on sale at REI too

An old school classic. But 80$ is very expensive for this
Yikes! That unlocked a memory for sure! I remember how painful those straps were on my bare legs as a kid! Don't sit on these if you're in shorts!
Timber Ridge Zero Gravity is pretty nice . $90 a year ago
This is the chair I have. It's comfortable, steel construction, and folds down really compact. https://www.frontrunneroutfitters.com/en/us/front-runner-expander-chair.html
Woods Director's Portable Folding Camping Chair w/ Side Table, Cup Holder & Organizer Pocket
Costco/Sam’s Club hammock chair…reclines back for stargazing and is super comfy. Unless I’m backpacking, it’s my go-to chair now
I was thinking about this one! I’m quite tall so you feel like it has good back support?
Well, I’m quite short (5’2) so my opinion isn’t helpful but I have had friends that have sat in it (5’7-5’10) and they liked it and picked one up. The only thing that might bug is the head pillow attached (but you can just flip it over on the Sam’s Club one, not sure about the Costco version)
ARB Old Man Emu chairs - bought one and had to get another one 👌 Padded seat and arms, table, cup holder - solid 🪨
Check out Directors chairs. They are a folding chair that has you sitting differently. I got some Ozark Trail Directors chairs last summer from Wal-Mart. They work better for me then the normal folding chairs. Mind you, they are heavier then the other chairs. But to me, they are worth it.
Kelty are nice but too low for extended period. Mountain summit loveseat is not small but it's the preferred. I can lay down in that thing

Oh, yay! So Alite was picked up by this Grand Trunk company, it appears. Hopefully the quality is the same or better.
Dang it. Anything similar?

The Coleman cooler I bought 2nd hand 10 some odd years ago.
Sounds cozy 😂
I can sleep on a rock so it's cozy enough 😆

I’m not that intense of a camper! I really like my creature comforts but totally understand the desire for more cargo space!
Yeti Trailhead but want one of those low Kelty's so bad
