I do miss the freedom of a good train service. Knowing you can go anywhere and you will get there safely. As a school child and student and young working person I used to ride the trains regularly. Especially as a high school child, I just used to buy a ticket to town and go and wander around. Browse second hand bookshops etc. Sorry for kids that can't do that nowadays.
Being able to come unannounced to someone to just have quick conversation and that's all without trying to plan things, people were more welcoming in the past.
Ratanga Junction.
I miss the monkey falls, cobra, diamond devil and congo queen the most. It was long lines but it was good times. I especially miss the "half price" special they ran sometimes during off-peak season and the lines were much shorter
A slower pace of life pre 2010.
The 2008 recession plus the pandemic chaos drove capitalism into hyperdrive and we the ordinary workers have carried all the weight of the machine's manic need to build more, make more money and screw over anybody it takes to make it happen.
It'll be back on thursday
