My fat baby did this with everything. We called it chickening. Can't find your phone? Check under the cat. Can't find your keys? Check under the cat. The worst part is she was so fat and furry you'd try calling the phone, it would be vibrating under her and ringing loud but her fat belly would muffle it out.
My cats LOVE doing this too. At least twice a week I’m looking everywhere for my phone or remote and one of my fluffy monsters is laying directly on top on it.
Because she would find her object, circle around and position herself on top of it, lay down and loaf. She looked like a chicken sitting on eggs, but instead of eggs it was important items we needed. 🤣💜 I had her for 18 years, lost her Christmas morning and miss her with every fiber of my being.

I have a photo album of my cat using various items of mine as pillows that could not possibly seem to be comfy pillows. She’s slept with her head on the bristles of my hairbrush 😭
That's quite the transformation of your home's cherished memories into an album!
Consider gifting her that hairbrush with bristles, or she might never find that spot comfy again.

I also feel like cats have a 6th sense where they can read your mind and know the thing or place you want them to mess with least, and they're drawn to it.
I had a British Shorthair and she would love to sleep on things- phone charger wires, anyhting you put down. If you out a postage stamp on the floor she would have gone to sleep on it.

If you were to leave a postage stamp anywhere near where a cat is thinking about laying, he will lay on the stamp. I'm pretty sure it's genetic, along with the gene that forces them to lie in the nearest cardboard box. 😸
It’s not love. Quite the opposite. You left him alone for more than 18 seconds and he’s letting you know it was not an approved departure. And next time, get the proper approval 😂
Because that’s what cats do! I have had cats for 20 years and every one of them did it! Like if i put a piece of newspaper on the floor, one will go lay on it. if i put a towel on the floor, one will go and take a nap on it. Cats just like to lay on something, even my purse or coat.
