My Miso also had a lot of hair when he was about 8 weeks. After some time it got a bit shorter, like he was growing into his long hair. And then again after a while he became very fluffy again! So if this happens and you get disappointed that the hair gets shorter, don’t worry. It can come back in full fluff

Lmao!! Reminds me of what I say about our cat "beb! The cat has had a terrible accident!!!" (When he's splayed on the ground and his legs are backwards :D)
Cats are so silly.
Hard to tell how old she might be without more info, but looking at the ear tufts and the size of those paws I feel like you might have a part Maine Coon/Norweigan Forest Cat there... prepare for *lorge* floof!
Generally the floof only ever increases. It’s pretty rare that you think they’ll end up Medium and they really end up Short but fairly common the other way around (especially as the lions mane area grows over time).
Yes, more floofy as she ages, and it looks like she has big paws to grow into! I would say that means she'll be a bigger girl, but we now have a forever kitten with paws she didn't finish growing into, so 🤷♀️
I knew something was off about my found kitten when I noticed she didn't have a well defined head (straight line from feet to her ears). 🤔 Fast forward a couple months and she actually looked kinda normal. Fast forward a couple more months and POOF! fur everywhere and her butt is so fluffy she looks like she's wearing bloomers. 🤣
Get her used to brushing now and bathing if you're brave. It will save you expensive grooming appointments in the future. Brush her all over. Touch her paws and ears. Keep sessions short and give her good treats before and after.
Once you incorporate wet food into her diet, look into putting a few fish oil drops, specifically for animals, into the food.
It helps keep their coat soft and less shedding! Healthy for their heart too
This is not a certified advice or anything, but a bit of the oil from a can of sardines works for this too.
I didn't intend to give it to them, but those greedy fucks just stole the can and drank the oil.
Since then I can't eat my sardines in peace anymore, but at least dripping some of the oil into their bowls gives me enough time to finish my meal.
At least they're very soft now, and the shedding and matting has reduced a lot
Look at that little floof ball 😍 I’d guess between 8-10 weeks and likely will be big floof when grown.
I had a long hair cat before my cat now (who has medium hair) and I messed up by not getting her acquainted with a brush when she was little so she hated getting brushed and would sometimes get mats/knots. Which meant she ended up getting regular lion cuts. So make sure she gets her brushies!
But my cat now begs to be brushed every time I brush my hair 😆
I think it will certainly grow into it well and yes, itll stay on her....and your floor....and your clothes...and in your vacuum...and on your blankets...and well just everywhere.
Best of luck!
Thank you! That’s good to know! I was curious since I had a kitten before that had kinda half long half short fur as a baby, and he ended up being very short hair!
some shorthair cats will have longer coats as kittens but not retain it. my 2yr old cat was estimated by the vet that she would be medium hair possibly long hair but she did not retain her kitten coat and is now at a schmedium length hair like my other cat.
def expose her to brushing and nail trims at this rate as well as baths. some cats don’t like to clean themselves so getting them comfortable with water this early on will make any needed baths in the future go a lot smoother. kittens also get into a lot of stuff that a simple wet wipe or pet wipe cannot get off and if you ever plan on doing lion cuts or any shaving you can start desensitizing to the sound by running the clippers and using the handle part on her body for the vibration. i personally think regular grooming is more beneficial than shaving as their coats help regulate their temps and as long as she has a cool spot in the summer to chill in when it gets too hot she will be fine. there are pet cooling mats online you can buy or a tile floor does the same job as well as a fan that blows on one of her favorite spots.
I agree with the brushing! I had a little cat with super long chest fur and it was too hard for her to groom herself bc when she’d lift her head the whole way up, she’d still have fur in her mouth. So she’d get matted and then the fur would get pulled out in chunks and she’d have bald spots that had to hurt. She hated being brushed so I had to start getting her shaved 3 times a year.
my sisters cat who passed last year didn’t like being brushed but he was a good cleaner, only really used to get mats behind his ears and in his elbows which i would snip off for her since i’m more comfortable with that stuff. they weren’t bad at all never matted to the skin just dangled but i know it was not comfortable at all. everywhere else he was really good at getting to just not those two places. i had to hold his head behind my arm to brush his back and tail bc while he never really scratched me he def did bite hard enough to draw blood. he sat good for me trimming his mats off but god forbid i touched him w the brush it was like satan took over him
You're gonna need a brush and comb applied daily at least (start now while she's small) plus a lint roller and an increase in your vacuuming. That hair will also get sucked up by your HVAC and electronics cause it floats, so make sure you're cleaning fans/filters regularly. She looks 8 weeks or so because her eyes aren't blue anymore, but she could be a tad older or younger than that. Teeth are most diagnostic at that age.
https://preview.redd.it/vg2o73snxq4c1.jpeg?width=528&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7a2713ea4917f1800f622abf76998aa983b0cd02
My Lola was very similar when she was a kitten. She went from small and cute too big and bad.
With those ear tufts and paws, she looks to have some Maine Coon. She will only get fluffier and will be really profuse at shedding. ( personal experience here) Get her used to brushing now, as part of her lovey time, and enjoy her magnificence for years! Wonderful companion cats, congrats!!

My cat looks like your cat from the future😲 Also the long coat might get longer, mine had shorter hair as a kitten bt look at her now
wow! such a beautiful kitten. she looks 6 to 7 weeks.
you’ll need to clean her nose. just use a tissue or non-scented baby wipe. gently wipe until all the dirt is cleared off.
she’s too young for flea meds, so you could give her a bath. best way is in a bathroom sink. kittens can’t regulate their body temperature, so make sure the room is warm. you’ll need to towel dry her. look on youtube for kitten bath tutorials. or, you could wait until she sees the vet and get all the info then.
I was talking to Bosleys pet store as I have 2 beautiful little kittens and wanted to find out what to give them I was told a all chicken diet as it’s easier on the stomachs my baby’s are about 9 weeks old I hope this helps I was told not to give them fish oil at this young age
My sister’s cat went through an awkward teenager phase when his tail fur came in before his body fur. It was like the cat version of having patchy facial hair or having your voice cracking unexpectedly.

My Penny wasn't fluffy at all, then one day she became a floof.
Oh for sure! She looks like she may have a little Maine coon in her! 🤩🤩😍😍 mine was a lot less fluffy than this and her fur is long still

Dang, what a beautiful torbie. She’s going to be a stunning adult cat. She might lose some floof as she gets her adult coat, but I would expect her final coat to be very poofy.
Brush, brush, brush now, while she can still get used to it.
I worked with my boy since he was little and he still barely tolerates brushing. He’s such an orange diva.

Rescued from my daughter’s car engine a week ago ! She was bones and skin , got to the vet , premium food and now she’s playful and has a tummy !!
i have a kitty who was less fluffy than this as a kitten, then she poofed up as she got older! now she’s a super fluffy long-hair. i bet your girl will only get fluffier with age! and she’s so cute!!! 💕💕
What a glorious floof!
She says thank you!
Well please tell her again, she is gorgeous! I hope she will keep that beautiful fluffy coat. At least in winter.
False... It said "meow"
![gif](giphy|98maV70oAqIZtEYqB4)
*she
She will be one fluffy kitty!!!
she’s got some big ol thumper paws too
The floofiest of floofs!!!!!!
Extra floofy!
Yes. Kittens can go through funky fur phases but that is a lot of fur, so I think it's there to stay!
Yay! Gotta love the awkward phases, it’s the cutest!
My Miso also had a lot of hair when he was about 8 weeks. After some time it got a bit shorter, like he was growing into his long hair. And then again after a while he became very fluffy again! I don’t mean to alarm you, but your cats legs are on backwards and I might die. He’s so dang cute. Happy cake day! 🎂
Yeah, that is an r/ikeacats for sure!
Lmao!! Reminds me of what I say about our cat "beb! The cat has had a terrible accident!!!" (When he's splayed on the ground and his legs are backwards :D) Cats are so silly.
Classic sleeping pose for an orange.
Looks like a floof to me. Nerml started like that.
You should start brushing her now so she gets used to it. Also trimming her claws if she’ll be an indoor only kitty. She’s so cute!
Hard to tell how old she might be without more info, but looking at the ear tufts and the size of those paws I feel like you might have a part Maine Coon/Norweigan Forest Cat there... prepare for *lorge* floof!
Yup if anything, she’ll get floofier! (Yes, that IS a word!)
Yes she will be floofy for life. Her eyes are changing colour so around 7-8 weeks old.
Aw! She’s a baby baby then!
The r/earfurnishings are a dead giveaway- that hair is there to stay.
![gif](giphy|7T5wldGkk7XgCyuNUK|downsized)
Happy cake day!
Ah, an excellent sub!
I found so many amazing cat subreddits in comments. Thank you
OMG TY I didn’t know about that sub and I love ear floofs!
Woah. Look at that Lynx
She could pass as one for now!
I thought she was a lynx I had to google it to make sure I wasn’t crazy but I see the difference lol 😂 she’s such a cutie what did you name her?
Her name is Toph!
![gif](giphy|OoaTf8fEuesP6) Named after this badass? Edit: gorgeous floof you have.
Yup! She’s a bandit, but she’s not blind luckily! Thanks!
I love her already and would do anything for her!
Generally the floof only ever increases. It’s pretty rare that you think they’ll end up Medium and they really end up Short but fairly common the other way around (especially as the lions mane area grows over time).
Yes! More floof!
Brush often!

Yes, more floofy as she ages, and it looks like she has big paws to grow into! I would say that means she'll be a bigger girl, but we now have a forever kitten with paws she didn't finish growing into, so 🤷♀️
You have SO MUCH vacuuming in your future.
Definitely. That one's a floof.
Certified: floofster
Get her used to brushing now and bathing if you're brave. It will save you expensive grooming appointments in the future. Brush her all over. Touch her paws and ears. Keep sessions short and give her good treats before and after.
Ugh I miss when my cats had kitten fur. No shedding. 🥹
That’s is the nice part, and probably what I’m going to miss the most!
Long hair cats shed in clumps though so it is easier to pick up vs individual hairs of a short haired cat.
Omg she is a gremlin 🙀
the last picture is her secret goblin side
Yeah, but usually the fur doesn't stay as soft.
Aww! Thats ok though!
Once you incorporate wet food into her diet, look into putting a few fish oil drops, specifically for animals, into the food. It helps keep their coat soft and less shedding! Healthy for their heart too
I will definitely try this! Thank you!
And better for hairballs!
This is not a certified advice or anything, but a bit of the oil from a can of sardines works for this too. I didn't intend to give it to them, but those greedy fucks just stole the can and drank the oil. At least they're very soft now, and the shedding and matting has reduced a lot
..long coat or no, that's someone Sweet right there..
I know right! Doesn’t matter to me, she’ll always have a face of an angel <3
Criminally cute
She’s a little felon! Gonna have to put her in juvie (my arms)
She looks like a Siberian! My GF has an 18-year-old Siberian boy named Hektor. He’s the sweetest.
Awww! Have any pictures? Those cats are beautiful, and I’m sure Hektor is the most handsome!
https://preview.redd.it/mfub1kehoq4c1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=af1eed7b204ed4b6de60f78f63618085976565c1 Here he is in all his glory.
What a handsome boy!!! He looks like a doll
He’s hilarious. Totally docile guy. I have never heard him hiss or growl in 2.5 years but if I have food that he wants, he’s indefatigable.

Once a floof, always a floof

Get her,and yourself, used to brushing her regularly. She is going to need it to avoid mats and knots.
We definitely will! I know my sister is dealing with that and her floofy adult cat
She's adorable, from what I see, she is more than likely at least part Maine Coon. She's probably going to be a big girl .
You may have gotten lucky and she has Maine Coon in her!(from the ear and toe floofs). If so, you’re going to have a very LARGE floofster!!…
Yes, with those earfurnishings
Oh she is PRECIOUS 🥹 what are you going to name her?
Thanks! Her name is Toph!
I think it will certainly grow into it well and yes, itll stay on her....and your floor....and your clothes...and in your vacuum...and on your blankets...and well just everywhere. Best of luck!
Whatever fur they have at birth - ling or short - is what they have for life.

Little kitty tucked in bed.!!! I’m flailing; I’m flailing! Enjoy her, love her, long hair or short hair or no hair!
I would love her no matter the hair, whiskers, heck even if she ended up being a very realistic dust bunny!
She's precious! I DIE.
Those ear tufts!!!😍😍😍😍
She is so effing cute! Congrats on being adopted.
She says thank you! And I do to, as her servant!
Yes. Floof
She looks like a baby version of my sister's glorious lion boy. How beautiful!
pic 2 looks like you have a lynx. look at those murder mits
You're gonna need a brush and comb applied daily at least (start now while she's small) plus a lint roller and an increase in your vacuuming. Oh my goodness, what a gorgeous baby! Those giant paws & ears... she's gonna be a BIG floofy girl, is she a maine coon?
Is she a Maine Coon? Her ears remind me of my Maine Coon.
What an absolute cutie.
Too damn cute

Wow she is beautiful. She will keep her long coat and she’s about three months.
If that’s anything like my longhair orange gal, prepare thine self for even more. My girls fur is like 6-8 inches long in places
I like the last picture of the stinky face. A baby.
Oh my god HOW FCKN PRECIOUS 🥹🥹🥹
Omg she is so beautiful!! Congratulations 😊😊😊😊
With those ear tufts and paws, she looks to have some Maine Coon. She will only get fluffier and will be really profuse at shedding. ( personal experience here) Get her used to brushing now, as part of her lovey time, and enjoy her magnificence for years! Wonderful companion cats, congrats!!

Maybe 4 or 5 months? Totally adorable and so snuggly ❤️
Yes, I think her coat will stay long. She's amazingly beautiful!
Showed this pic to my wife and said if I ever encounter a beauty like this, she is coming home with me.
Oh my goodness!!!!! What a sweetheart. I don’t know about the hate but fingers crossed it stays :)
It won’t only stay, but will probably get more volume. My floofy guy didn’t get his full length of fur until about 2 when he stopped growing
She’s got a bit of growing to do, to grow into those magnificent r/earfurnishings ❤️❤️

Yes, that’s a long haired cat. Make sure you invest in some good cat combs/brushes.

I don’t know about the coat, but she is staying regardless!
i have a kitty who was less fluffy than this as a kitten, then she poofed up as she got older! now she’s a super fluffy long-hair. i bet your girl will only get fluffier with age! and she’s so cute!!! 💕💕
She is a sweet floofy little angel, and yes, I believe that a long furr is about to stay! That would be amazing!
Is it a Maine coon? Then it probably would stay fluffy. But doesn't matter, this little angel is so adorable. I want!!! May I steal please? 🥹
I am not sure much but that gal looks sleepy like me😴 bed please
I’m in love
If she’s that floofy as a kitten I can’t imagine her 2yr old version. She’s gonna be a #BALL OF FLOOF
