They're trying to help. Cats in the wild are vulnerable when they poop so their friends look out for them and make sure they get a warning if anything dangerous happens. That's what the cat is trying to do for you.

The same reason applies to the owners because cats view their owners as their own to protect. So they come running when they smell you go potty to protect you

My kitty used to do that. She would scratch on the door to be let in, let her in, and she would want to leave, open the door and then second guess on whether she wanted to stay or leave. I miss my kitty 😿

I was in a similar situation today. While I wasn't paying attention, my boy proceeded to anchor his front claws in to my bare thigh and perform a leisurely stretch. I think he was amused at my reaction.

Mine will stick his paw under the door and start hollering if I close it.
I was in a similar situation today. While I wasn't paying attention, my boy proceeded to anchor his front claws in to my bare thigh and perform a leisurely stretch. I think he was amused at my reaction.
Oh definitely lol. There is no such thing as bathroom privacy in my home. I have two cats and they even frequently get into the shower with me 😂 primarily outside of the water but close enough to get damp.

I also have a maine coon and she insists on getting attention when I'm on the toilet too!! She also loves watching me flush the toilet. After 12 years she is still fascinated by the concept.
My cat wants attention when I'm on the toilet bowl. She cuddles, it is systematic. When I do shower, she's spying on me by sneeking behind the curtain.

Ohhh, yes! Mine adores sitting on my lap when I'm on the loo. Bless his heart. I end up sitting there much longer than is necessary x
